As they were having fun, they heard a knock on the door. Liam who had switched off his all encompassing powers of his eyes, opened it again. And he was surprised to see who had knocked on his door. He wasn't expecting him, but then again, it was expected. Ciri noticed the change in expression.
"Should I grab my sword?"
"No," Liam said slowly. "I don't feel any hostility yet."
He opened the door.
Standing on the other side was King T'Chaka of Wakanda.
Clad in a regal dark purple tunic that seem to be shimmering. His gaze was calm. Dignified, ancient, and yet not without warmth. T'Chaka offered a small, courteous nod. ehind him stood two Dora Milaje—silent, statuesque, and armed, their vibranium spears resting lightly in their hands.
"Liam Woodsworth.. I am.." T'Chaka said but before he could finish Liam said.
"T'Chaka, King of Wakanda. I know.." Liam said.
"Uh.. I hope this is not a bad time," T'Chaka was embarrassed as he also knew that Liam knew of their existence.
"Not at all, Your Majesty. Please—come in." Liam replied.
T'Chaka inclined his head again and stepped into the apartment. The Dora followed silently, their eyes subtly scanning every corner of the room. Ciri had already stood up from the couch. She gave T'Chaka a polite nod as he glanced at her.
"This is Ciri," Liam said. "My girlfriend." T'Chaka's eyebrows lifted slightly. He gave her a small bow.
"A pleasure, Miss Ciri."
"Likewise, King T'Chaka."
King T'Chaka took a seat on the couch while the two women remained near the door. Liam didn't mind that.
"King T'Chaka," Liam said. "I'd ask what brings the King of Wakanda to my doorstep." Liam knew why he was here, but he wasn't going to blurt it out.
"Uh.. I have known about you for sometime and wanted to meet you. The one they call the young genius." T'Chaka said. He also noticed that a huge dog slowly walked in from the other room and he knew that this dog was there on that fateful day too so he was very curious about the animal. But he didn't ask anything.
"I've been called worse," Liam replied with a grin. Liam then offered him tea too and T'Chaka actually drank from it even though he could see that the two women were very uncomfortable as he did so, but didn't stop him.
"I've followed your rise for some time," the king began. "Marvel Industries. Your technological breakthroughs with the clean energy initiative and even the shielding technology is very ground breaking."
"Thank you. If you want our shielding technology, you can always ask Pepper, but then again I don't think you even need our technology." Liam said and this made T'Chaka stiffen. He didn't know what to answer to this and just made the whole atmosphere awkward. "So… is this just a friendly visit, or are we going to talk about the Vibranium that we took away from Klaue?"
Liam didn't want to revolve around the topic for too long.
"Straight to it, then." T'Chaka sighed. He knew that he would have to talk about their reason to visit sooner or later. He was glad that Liam brought it up.
"I find it saves time," Liam said, sipping his tea. "You're here because we took away what used to belong to that criminal and before that was a national treasure of your country. And I imagine Wakanda wants to know what's become of it. And not only that, it is about the identity of your nephew too. How is he in prison?"
T'Chaka had an inkling that it was Liam that day when the fight happened against Abomination, the one who unveiled the identity of his nephew. Wakanda had to move fast to take him away as they feared that the man would leak some intelligence. It also surprised T'Chaka as he didn't expect the young kid he left that day would turn out to be such a thorn.
He felt guilty about it. But now that it was out, it was time to bring him back and of course, he was sent to the dungeons immediately.
"You are what they call Wraithborn." TChaka asked.
"Some call me that. I didn't coin myself that name." Liam replied. T'Chaka nodded and became silent. For the first time he felt like he didn't recognize this world anymore. He had seen the videos and it didn't make sense.
"I admire your honesty," T'Chaka finally said. "And your transparency. That is why I came myself—without demands. I wished to see the man myself."
"No, you wanted to know what I know of your country and if I had spoken about it to others and also if you take back the Vibranium that we took away." Liam said. T'Chaka didn't expect to be called out again so soon.
The two bald women stiffened as they held their spears, ready to attack if there was any problem. They had seen how Liam had handled that monster, and they didn't believe that they were better than him and also the reason why they didn't want the King to talk with Liam personally.
Even though the Council didn't agree.
"From the looks of it, you went against your own Council to come. Isn't that right you Majesty." Liam smirked as he said that.
"How.." The words of Liam threw him off as it meant Liam basically knew everything about their country.
"You don't think you are the only country which is unique and special. Right?" Liam asked again.
"What do you mean?" T'Chaka couldn't help but ask.
"Tha Talokans." Liam replied. This made T'Chaka's mouth wide open while the Dora Milaje confused.
"You.. You are a Talokan?" T'Chaka asked.
"No, your Majesty. Do I look like I can breathe underwater. I am just saying that your country isn't unique. There are others like yours while it may not be as advanced but at the end of the day all of us are tied by one single thread. And that is humans. So you acting superior doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. But I respect your privacy since we have the freedom of choices. So our freedom of choice is that we will keep the Vibranium since we found it and in need of it. In return, if you need any help, you can always ask me or any of us as I am sure you have done your homework. It the price we will pay for taking away something that shouldn't belong outside of your country. And in return you will not harass us for the Vibranium."
