Chapter 132: A mission to complete together
CHAPTER 132: A MISSION TO COMPLETE TOGETHER
Elliot was taken to rest one day, not knowing what he would get next.
Anna left and told him: I have a surprise for you.
But she said nothing more.
Fortunately, the day passed quickly. Elliot rested all night. Something characteristic of the last weeks was that his hunger was abnormal.
He was eating too much, which also increased his weight. His muscles became more toned and bigger, which allowed him to gain a lot of presence.
Especially in these last two weeks, when they were continuously beaten to a pulp.
In addition, because of the strenuous training, he practically eliminated much of the fat from his body, which allowed him to be in his best shape, not only in terms of strength but also of physical beauty.
When he looked in the mirror, he thought he was seeing someone different.
Not only was his jaw set in an extraordinary way, something that had not happened often before, but his facial features seemed more perfect and carefully sculpted.
These weeks have been weeks of transformation for him. Because the change was so radical, he wanted Jenna to see this new version of himself.
So, the sixth day of the week dawned.
Anna knocked on his door very early in the morning, and after an opulent breakfast, she drove him to the outskirts of the city.
"Are we going to some dungeon?" He asked.
"No." She replied. "I told you I had a surprise for you, so let’s go see it."
’A surprise on the outskirts?’ He was interested.
Quickly, they both arrived at a place: some mountains on the outskirts of the city. A road crossed through the middle of these mountains and would take them on a ’tour’ to other mountain areas.
This was close to Tall-Ar, though not that close. More precisely, on the other side of the cliff where Elliot and Jenna were going to fall that time, with the tank that later betrayed them.
’There are no dungeons around here...’ Elliot thought, a bit confused by the surprise she said.
But as he moved closer to a tree, Elliot caught a glimpse of the surprise she was referring to.
There stood Steward, a rather powerful woman and...
"Jenna!" Elliot smiled at the sight of her.
She immediately turned at the sound of his voice and was stunned to see him. Well, they both were.
Jenna has always been a beautiful woman, but lately, she has a little more muscle, which makes her look extraordinary. She’s not skinny or fat, either. Her legs are amazing, and her waist, which was already perfect before, now seems to have been sculpted by the gods.
She was wearing soft clothes—shorts that covered a little more than half of her thighs and a close-fitting blouse that reached her navel. They were not wearing baggy clothes because that would make hunting in the mountains difficult.
It was this slightly revealing clothing that revealed her splendorous figure.
In Elliot’s eyes, she was already perfect. But now her perfection had been amplified several times over.
The same was true in Jenna’s eyes.
But her daze didn’t stop her from running to him to greet him with a big hug.
The two talked for a moment before Anna caught everyone’s attention.
"Did you like the surprise?" was the first thing she asked, looking at Elliot.
He nodded at her. "Thanks."
She nodded quietly back at him. "Well, I didn’t gather them together to have their longed-for moments. They have a mission to complete."
"What mission?" Elliot asked, quizzically.
"It’s the last test within the four weeks of training." She pulled out a scroll and showed it to them.
"There is a criminal organization near here. We found their location and they are located on the fourth mountain and have recently been getting stronger, which has increased the smuggling of drugs that they plant themselves."
"Your mission is to destroy the organization and its seed fields. They are counting on strong people at the moment. One Awakened One with 50 points in strength and resistance. And two others with 45 in the same attributes. In addition to that, they have two field leaders, who are in charge of planting the drugs, who have about 30 points in strength. The rest are Misfits..."
As she explained, Elliot found himself curious.
’I did some work for that organization before. So whatever those crates they wouldn’t let me check were carrying, it was drugs.’ He frowned, remembering when his former boss reprimanded him severely for trying to pry into what was there.
As a Misfit, it is common for them to do such jobs. This is also why Misfits hated by their superiors do not live long. Being involved in transporting drugs without their knowledge, these leaders tend to denounce them easily, just by presenting a few proofs.
And they are Misfits. Only criminals have a lower status than they do, so they are not listened to. That causes them to be easily killed.
That’s why they crave money. With money, they could live in remote places or some small town, where they could raise a family and get away from all that kind of work. But it is not in the leaders’ interest for them to be free.
That’s why their salaries are so low.
And this is one of those organizations that works with Misfits, but if one of them opposes it, they immediately denounce it and have him killed. Several of Elliot’s colleagues then suffered that fate after opposing some things in the organization.
He did not expect to be sent to destroy it.
’I never knew where the headquarters was located... now it makes sense. It was quite far away and among dangerous mountains and forests.’ He thought.
After Anna explained everything they needed, they set off for the central mountains.
"Have you ever been made to do missions like this before, Elliot?" Jenna asked as she walked beside him.
He shook his head. "It’s the first time. You?"
"First time too, but I had to kill some nimble guys before. It was pretty tough."
"During these weeks, I only fought with humans in the last three days. She made me go to the Combat Arena... it was painful." He sighed, and she smiled at him, excited.
"Yes, I saw it on the news. You made it to the Top 10 of the C Rank with an amazing streak. That’s unbelievable. Everyone in the guild is talking about you."
"Hahaha..." Elliot felt a little embarrassed. "It’s not that big of a deal."
She just smiled and stared at him as they walked.
Ten minutes passed in silence, where Jenna wasn’t looking straight ahead, while Elliot’s forehead filled with sweat. He carefully turned to her.
"Is something wrong?" he asked carefully, steeling himself. Why had she been staring at him so intently for the last ten minutes?
Jenna seemed to snap out of a stupor and blushed at his question. She looked ahead quickly and tried to pick up her pace, but Elliot grabbed her.
"Hm?" he asked.
She couldn’t run away. She ended up smiling. "Sorry. You’ve become like 10 times more physically attractive. I got a little lost in my thoughts, " she replied, completely embarrassed and with tomato-colored cheeks.
Elliot was a little stunned...he couldn’t respond. They both kept walking then.
Between words, the two of them wandered in following the map Anna had given them, and by noon, they had reached the designated mountain.
From the front, it was lined with trees. It looked like a normal mountain. But as they went deeper, they could see some small abandoned settlements on it. At the top, there was a whole village with many houses and a big mansion in the middle. Many people were working back and forth.
There were at least 40 people here.
But, toward the other side of the mountain, were huge plantings of what appeared to be corn.
"Corn?" Jenna frowned.
What was so druggy about that?
But Elliot frowned. "It’s a front." He spoke.
Looking closer at the planted corn, Elliot could see another bush with a similar leaf growing between each corn. They seemed to be growing together, but looking closely and having seen it before, it was recognizable.
It’s a type of drug that emerged alongside the magic.
Well, it didn’t really emerge. In times past, it came to be called ’marijuana’, but magic acted on it, and it mutated.
"What kind of drug is it?" Jenna asked quizzically.
And Elliot frowned. "It’s marijuana. The one that mutated about 400 years ago."
Although its name is preserved, the effects are different. They are fully strengthened and can destroy the normal human brain in less than 10 years. That of a Misfit still takes 15 years, approx.
In the Awakened, it only has efficiency in the first two Ranks, so it is usually sold to the younger generation if you want to negatively affect them.
And this is not just any destruction.
It is a total degradation of everything. The brain completely loses cognitive and general abilities. The normal person becomes crazy when he has been consuming it for 5 years, and at 10 years, he enters a vegetative state. It would be an unwanted miracle if he manages to live 2 or 3 years longer than that.
It is one of the most harmful drugs of the current era, being a magical drug. But being a magical drug, it has healing benefits in potions, but planting it outside the Registered Guilds in the System is forbidden.
Jenna could now understand why it was necessary to destroy it. The Association banned this drug. To violate its rules would be like violating the very rules of the System: a capital offense.
"How are we going to burn it? It’s dangerous to even go near it because of its wide-ranging magical effects." Jenna asked.
Elliot knew this. Looking closely at this drug, he could tell there was a strange aura swaying through the leaves. Maybe Jenna couldn’t see it, but he could.
That aura was actually a strange wind, one of the effects of this magic drug. Inhaling strongly could put you to sleep if you were in or below Master Rank.
So, he looked at her.
"Whatever happens, don’t inhale hard. Try to control your breathing with minimal effort." He warned her.
Then he looked once more toward the main mansion.
Then he frowned...
’He is...’ He recognized a man walking into the mansion. A strange thread seemed to shine in his eyes.
