Gamers Are Fierce
Chapter 262 261 Spearhead
A dense rain of green fire poured down, covering most of the street. Wherever it passed, reinforced concrete melted with ease, dripping onto the ground like wax.
There was no escaping. The casual clothes Ash wore suddenly burst, revealing a thick layer of gray dust stuck to his skin.
This dust, like flowing sand, slipped down and rapidly spread across the surrounding ground, expanding upon contact with the air. Within moments, it formed an enclosed Pyramid that enveloped Ash and the nearby vehicle.
The virulent, poisonous fire rain, capable of melting steel, hissed upon contact with the Ash Pyramid, corroding countless pits into its surface. However, the gray dust regenerated as quickly as it was destroyed, showing no signs of depletion.
The cloaked figure—or rather, the player known as Resentful Demon—saw this and let out a cold sneer, sweeping his White Bone Palm gently to the side.
Suddenly, the torrential fire rain halted, suspended in mid-air. The next second, countless sparks of fire shot toward the Pyramid with electrifying speed.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Under the fiery impact, dust scattered. Through the battered gaps, one could glimpse Ash inside, draped in thick Rustic Gray Armor, propping himself up from the ground with one hand.
Resentful Demon's White Bone Palm clenched violently. This time, the fiery raindrops stuck to the Pyramid's surface like flesh-burrowing maggots, completely enveloping it. After a brief delay, the flames erupted with a deafening roar.
Green flames shot skyward, turning the Ash Pyramid into a bright pyre that illuminated the entire street.
Resentful Demon stared at the blazing pillar of fire, then suddenly retreated backward and to the side, his speed so immense that he left afterimages.
A thick, long, ghastly blue beam of light shot out from within the Pyramid, piercing Ash's outer shell and striking the spot where Resentful Demon had just stood.
The Light Cannon, having missed its target, struck a reinforced concrete high-rise a hundred meters away. It effortlessly melted a hole the size of a water tank, penetrating the entire building.
Resentful Demon glanced at the high-rise, showing little fear. Instead, he spoke with rapt interest, "So this is the little toy you folks from the Special Affairs Bureau developed..."
Before he could finish the word "toy," another beam of light blasted toward him. Resentful Demon's cloak billowed wildly as he dodged in mid-air, tracing a bizarre trajectory to narrowly avoid the second Light Cannon.
The green fire rain gradually extinguished, revealing the heavily damaged Pyramid below, and Ash standing beside the vehicle, cradling a large, futuristic sniper rifle.
This agent from the Special Affairs Bureau's Mobile Detachment held the rifle's body with one hand. His other hand had transformed into gray dust, merging with the rifle's buttstock.
This sniper rifle was also a prototype developed by the Special Affairs Bureau's research department using knowledge from the 'world of scripts.' It was equipped on only a few vehicles belonging to elite Mobile Detachment agents.
The Laser Gun was extremely powerful and battery-driven. After a single shot, some of its burnt and melted components required replacement. It also needed at least three hours of precision maintenance, plus one hour of energy replenishment.
The fact that Ash could fire again so quickly was entirely reliant on a skill called 'Firework Ash'.
The Special Effect of this skill allowed him to turn his body into ash. This not only let him ignore a certain degree of physical damage but also create various shapes of cold weapons.
When necessary, he could even integrate his ash with firearms to enhance their damage.
The only side effect of this skill was that it burned a significant amount of body fat, causing substantial weight loss—a detail many of his female colleagues envied.
"Interesting."
Resentful Demon said indifferently, "A pity. You don't seem to be holding up much longer..."
Before he could finish speaking, Chu Yin, sitting in the vehicle's back seat, swiftly tapped her tablet a few times.
Instantly, the undersides of the Special Affairs Bureau's specialized vehicle extended outward, revealing Beehive-shaped missile bays. A total of eight 63.5-centimeter-long 'Sleeve Arrow' light missiles were mounted, four on each side.
The 'Sleeve Arrow' missiles, employing a canard aerodynamic layout, responded with extreme speed. Four launched almost instantaneously, racing towards Resentful Demon in the sky, guided by their internal television guidance systems.
Resentful Demon rapidly retreated, maneuvering agilely in the air like a bird. However, the four 'Sleeve Arrow' missiles, trailing blue flames, relentlessly pursued, determined to shoot him down.
Resentful Demon shot up along the skyscraper's façade to swiftly gain distance, then flipped his palm. A howling demonic wind erupted, flinging countless green-faced skulls at the 'Sleeve Arrow' missiles and detonating all four simultaneously.
The blast wave shattered the skyscraper's windows. Firelight flared, and the explosion was deafening.
Looking down from within his black cloak, Resentful Demon saw the vehicle's engine roaring as it drifted around a street corner and vanished in a streak of smoke.
HUMPH.
Resentful Demon sneered. He was about to give chase but then heard a barely perceptible, sharp Bug Buzz in the air.
His friend, the Lepidopteran larva Gulu Lugu, was sending him a distress call.
Without hesitation, Resentful Demon swept his cloak aside, spun around, and burst through the building's glass wall. He skimmed through the grayish-white office corridor, scattering countless paper documents as he raced towards the rehabilitation hospital.
On the fifth floor of the rehabilitation hospital, the plump green Mao Mao huddled, trembling, as it clutched a silver, mirror-like Lunar Phase Locator.
The fifth-floor corridors were densely webbed with glistening white threads, each as thick as a finger and coated with numerous tiny, sticky droplets.
These threads were incredibly tough and resilient. They could not be torn by explosions, nor cut by blades or axes, and the sticky droplets on them even resisted fire.
Nevertheless, Gulu Lugu, cowering, desperately shook its head and spat countless more threads onto the floor beneath it, reinforcing it.
On the Lunar Phase Locator it clutched, two distinct dots representing itself and its teammate, Resentful Demon, were clearly visible. Two more red dots, symbolizing enemies, lingered on the floor below.
Li Ang, his cloak of justice fluttering, dug his fingers deep into the building's exterior. He rapidly climbed the hospital wall, suspending himself outside a fifth-floor corridor window that was heavily sealed by threads.
Liu Wu Dai followed closely, leaping and ascending via the exterior air conditioning units.
Li Ang extended his Spiritual Sense to its maximum range, easily spotting the caterpillar cowering in the center of the corridor.
A bug can be a player? Does this thing even have a brain?
Li Ang's mind raced, but his body had already moved, activating the Special Effect of his Phase Boots and darting through the thick web of threads.
He effortlessly passed through all the threads. But instead of striking Gulu Lugu with his Virulent Poison Short Dagger, he dropped all his Molotov cocktails beside it and descended to the fourth floor before deactivating the Special Effect of his Phase Boots.
The fifth-floor corridor was so densely webbed with threads that rashly charging in to attack would inevitably result in him being impaled by the omnipresent strands once the Special Effect wore off.
Having descended to the fourth floor, Li Ang didn't check if the Molotov cocktails had killed the caterpillar. Instead, he took out his Broken Triangular Bone Tipped Spear and, with the shaft pointing upward, thrust it towards the caterpillar's location.
Who says you can't kill without a spearhead?
