CHAPTER 394: CHAPTER 393: INVINCIBLE

Anna’s synergistic body ability, deeply concealed, suddenly burst forth, directly squeezing John’s and Smoker’s hearts into shriveled, withered apples.

The dual-bodied Bob, one black and one white, who had just hit Anna with the Fireworks Shotgun and a Feather Duster, also felt the impact of the synergistic ability.

Fortunately, the skill of Good Karma Bad Karma divided all the damage received equally between his two bodies.

So Bob only felt intense pain in his heart, as if most of his strength had been drained. His ears rang thunderously, and his vision was filled with flickering black and white spots, like an old TV losing its signal.

With his last bit of consciousness, he used the remaining strength in his body to place the pale Feather Duster horizontally across his chest.

This action directly saved his life.

The Frozen Monster sent John and Smoker flying with a blow that ripped open their chests. Then, its Wolf Fang Club-like ice crystal fist suddenly extended half a meter and swept across the chests of both Bobs.

BANG!

The Feather Duster snapped in half, pale feathers scattering chaotically.

Both Bobs’ chests caved in simultaneously, the sound of breaking bones continuous, like firecrackers.

Both Bobs spat out blood, their bodies flung sideways, smashing into a corner of the palace next to Julia, their fates unknown.

Julia, holding the sniper rifle in one hand, had been standing farther away and was less affected by the synergistic body ability.

Pale, she watched her companions lose their combat capability almost simultaneously. Facing the Ice Crystal Monster reaching out towards her, she clenched her teeth and pulled the trigger once more.

The long, simple bullet, like a pen, spun out of the barrel and rushed toward the Frozen Monster’s forehead.

Julia didn’t even look at the shot’s effect. She slapped the rifle’s body, turning the futuristic sniper rifle back into her left leg, then pushed off the ground with her right foot, rolling nimbly to the side.

CLANG—

Countless ice spears, as thick as arms, savagely sprouted from the spot where Julia had been crouched.

If she hadn’t made the snap decision to roll away, she would have been skewered like a candied haw.

The Ice Crystal Giant shifted its arm, ready to strike at Julia again.

Miss Chai charged forward, her body as agile as a snake, easily slipping through the opponent’s blind spot to appear before it.

Her palms, like long spears, jabbed into the empty eye sockets of the Frozen Monster.

Not only that, but Miss Chai also lived up to the street fighting principle of "no tactic was too dirty, only dirtier," using all kinds of dirty tricks on the Ice Crystal Giant: yanking its "hair" (the ice cones on the Frozen Monster’s head), kicking its crotch, poking its temples. If she’d had a bag of lime powder, she definitely would have thrown it all into the enemy’s eyes and mouth.

Anna had never seen such a crazed, intense barrage of attacks. It took her a second or two to realize that her synergistic body ability was completely useless against this suit of Yellow Plate.

Fortunately, the Ice Crystal Giant’s defensive power was truly exaggerated.

Miss Chai’s flurry of moves, scraping off a large amount of ice shavings, was merely visually spectacular; it didn’t directly harm Anna beneath the ice.

Outside the palace, the roars of Magical Beasts grew closer, and the uneven presences of countless Spellcasters were also approaching.

Is everything about to be exposed?

All the Spellcasters on the hillside were Anna’s trusted aides. Anna could pin Elsa’s death entirely on these Eastern Monks, perhaps even deceiving the Magical Beasts loyal only to Elsa into serving her.

But the commotion in the Snow Mountain Palace would definitely not escape the notice of Anna’s political enemies lurking in the shadows.

Elsa had been absent from the public eye for so long, and various forces were already restless. This anomaly could very well be the last straw, convincing them that something had indeed happened to Elsa.

On this basis, they might challenge Anna’s position, or even wage a war...

The situation is probably unfolding in the direction I least wanted.

So, there was only one path left.

"Get out of my way!"

The Frozen Monster let out an indistinct roar. Its waist and abdomen melted rapidly, forming a hollow circle from which a blizzard mixed with lightning and thunder burst forth, pushing back the Qinge Armor.

At the same time, the Ice Giant bent over sharply, its two sturdy arms smashing into the solid ice-ground, causing a sudden tremor.

HUM—

The entire palace trembled, numerous ice fragments shaking loose from the hall’s dome.

Strands of pale blue beams spread from various corners of the hall and Elsa’s frozen body, creeping along the floor, slowly converging toward the Ice Crystal Monster.

Elsa, once the strongest in the world, had her Energy not only contained within her body after death but also a substantial amount accumulated within this Ice Crystal Palace.

Now that what’s happening here has been exposed, I might as well reap all the remaining power and become the undisputed Queen of the new world.

A flicker of resolve and determination shone in the Ice Giant’s hollow eyes.

For that supreme power and crown, she had lain in wait for over a decade, enduring the fear of confronting monsters head-on, suppressing her inner disdain, and forcing smiles before that creature wearing her sister’s skin.

I don’t want to endure any longer. I don’t want to compromise or give way. It’s time for the world to hear my voice!

The grand palace shook violently, on the verge of collapse. The next second, the frozen Energy exploded, extending numerous ice pillars that barely shored up the crumbling structure and incidentally erected thick ice walls outside, blocking the Spellcasters and many Snow Mountain Demon Beasts from storming in.

Julia’s eyes blazed with fury. Ignoring her exhaustion, she extended her arms forward, merging them into a heavy firearm, and fired continuously.

Miss Chai was frantic. She commanded the Qinge Armor to dive, braving the ice shards that sliced at the Yellow Plate, and pounded the Ice Giant’s head with punch after punch.

CRACK—

The Ice Giant’s head shattered into a pile of ice chunks mixed with stones.

But the headless Giant’s body still stood tall. As the pale blue beams streamed in, its surface gradually became coated with a layer of crystalline brilliance.

Bob, collapsed in a corner of the palace, struggled to lift his body. His previous Good Karma Bad Karma form had suffered excessive damage and had now merged back into Bob himself.

His chest was entirely caved in, bloody foam gushing from his mouth, and his eyes were nearly losing focus.

Yet his hands still fumbled on the ground, picking up the Fireworks Shotgun. He rested it on his leg and pulled the trigger in the enemy’s general direction.

The Ice Giant’s arm was hit by the incendiary bullet, exploding into countless ice crystals. But in an instant, the broken icy arm regrew, as good as new.

"It’s no use," Anna’s muffled voice resounded from within the Frozen Monster.

She looked through the layers of ice at Elsa’s statue above the fountain and roared, "Is this the power you once possessed? So vast, magnificent, mighty, boundless! Ha, foolish woman, you actually gave up the chance to become a god. Then let me inherit it..."

"Idiot."

A nonchalant, flippant voice arose from the floor beneath Anna’s feet.

The voice was so abrupt that it was crystal clear, even as the entire palace trembled and shook.

Anna instinctively looked down at the floor and saw, hidden within it, a face twisted to an eerie degree.

It was an indescribable, unnamable face with sharply defined contours, not adhering to the shape of any creature on this planet but rather resembling a geometric solid from a math problem. Atop the face were some black, linear objects, swaying in the wind like tendrils. The front of the face featured a shriveled, twisted mass of flesh, covered in crisscrossing ravines. Upon closer inspection, one could see that the face was not composed of smooth muscle but of bundles of fine, quivering, fleshy nodules. The eyes were even more bizarre. Instead of the usual white, gelatinous orbs found in ordinary creatures, the eye sockets held two pitch-black, pointed towers spiraling upward, their bases adorned with segmented red branches resembling the limbs of arthropods. It seemed as if, at any moment, these red branches might pull themselves free from the sockets, carrying the dark towers as they crawled away from this indescribably hideous face.

Merely looking at this face, Anna felt as if her sanity was evaporating.

Her rational thought emptied out, leaving only this indescribable, twisted visage in her mind.

She was staring directly into The Abyss.

More terrifyingly, The Abyss spoke to her.

"Idiot, idiot, big idiot!"

The face’s gaping maw opened and closed, issuing deafening, maddening shrieks.

Anna instantly felt everything around her begin to warp.

Oxygen, temperature, weight, smell—everything lost meaning, leaving only emptiness in her mind. Only the intense beckoning from the Abyss of Hell remained.

"Anna darling, when you were hit by a truck, it was I who bribed the driver; when your heart stopped, it was I who pulled the plug on your respirator; when your ashes were mixed with rice, it was I who cooked it with love; when the whole village danced on your grave, I was the one who pressed play on the stereo.

True friendship warms the soul, Anna darling. May our friendship last forever!

That ugly face mumbled on and on, but Anna couldn’t make out exactly what it was saying.

She only knew that an inexplicable rage welled up in her heart, leaving only brutal anger in her mind. Any fear of the unknown face evaporated in an instant.

"You’re still cursing?!"

Anna roared, shaking her arms violently and plunging her hands into the ground. Ignoring the Energy cost, she unleashed Extreme Cold Air, wishing she could charge deep into the rock strata and tear the other’s mouth to shreds.

The Ice Giant aggressively drained all the Energy from the entire palace.

In its furious attack, the floor, already made of ice crystals, was once again permeated by ultra-low temperatures.

The once smooth, transparent floor was frozen into a blurry, pale color.

However, all this was to no avail. The face lurking beneath the ice crystal floor retreated swiftly. In a breath’s time, like a diver surfacing, it burst out of the ground, revealing Li Ang’s small red figure.

He had used his last Electric Afterimage scroll, gaining five seconds of invisibility.

During the time his teammates broke into the palace, he had made some preparations.

Then, activating the intangibility Special Effect of the Phase Boots, he had burrowed into the floor, concealing his presence.

Once Anna had absorbed enough Energy, he re-emerged. He then activated the Magic Mirror’s Fear Projection Special Effect (distorting the wearer’s appearance to other observers, causing them to feel fear, and lasting for one minute).

At the same time, he used his last Skill Scroll, Mocking Taunt, to begin taunting.

When Anna plunged her arms into the ground in a furious attack, Li Ang activated two Special Effects from the Magic Mirror shards:

False Prophecy, which predicts various ways of dying within the next twenty-four hours,

and Temporarily Undead, which grants immunity to a similar injury when it occurs in the future.

The combination of these two effects shielded Li Ang from the upcoming "frozen to death" injury.

Taking advantage of the Phase Boots’ intangibility Special Effect, he smoothly returned to the surface.

The reappeared Li Ang stood calmly in the ravaged Ice Crystal Palace, casually saying to the panting Anna, "Baby Anna, don’t shout so loud. Mommy gets scared."

"..."

Anna breathed heavily, looking at Li Ang’s still-ugly face, speechless.

The recent Mocking Taunt scroll had successfully depleted a large amount of Anna’s Energy, causing the once-crystalline Ice Giant to dim considerably.

But it had also allowed her to regain a good deal of her sanity.

"Do you think you’re so cool doing this? Do you think you actually have a chance to defeat me?"

Anna took a deep breath and sneered, "As long as I stand in this palace, as long as Elsa’s body and I stand together, I am still invincible."
