Genetic Extra In The Apocalypse
Chapter 43: The third affinity
CHAPTER 43: THE THIRD AFFINITY
The young man led the group of three into a large room, that looked more like a mini suite, than just a VIP room in a restaurant.
In the middle of the hall, was a large aquarium, filled with a lot of exotic fishes swimming about as though in their natural habitat.
To one side were four large cushions, neatly arranged with small, carved wooden stools by their sides, one for each.
A glass dining, with dinning chairs equally made from reinforced glass, with soft foam on the seat, to successfully enhance the blend between comfort and luxury.
Three miniature bots floated from one side of the room to another, exuding soft lights from their thrusters.
"Please, make yourself comfortable." The man ushered, as Sean and Drew took in the sight, this time without much amazement considering the tension that hung softly in the air.
"They would take your order," he said, pointing at the three miniature bots, as he excused himself.
Without overstaying his times the man left. Infact, he looked really eager to escape, not wanting to continue enduring the suffocation that came with standing so close to someone like the White Witch.
Plus, he didn’t want to be caught in the tension of what was going on between the three, nor did he even want to know what happened, that made Sean react the way he did.
The three of them settled quietly, and one of the miniature bots approached.
"May I take your order Miss," it said in a monotonous voice, as it hovered before Richelle, then turned to Sean and Drew... "Gentlemen."
She made her order, and looked at the boys with a raised brow, as though asking why they were not placing theirs yet.
The both of them immediately did.
Although Drew did not know a majority of what he ordered, they were quite different from the usual bread and soup he usually had in the slums, and maybe once in a while, some protein.
Sean on the other hand, picked food that were quite common between Earth and this world, and also a few of what he had seen Richelle order, that he found interesting.
And a last item, that he had never had before... Artificial blood.
"The entrance examination would demand a lot from you, so don’t stuff yourself." Richelle warned, notifying them just in case they forgot.
When they were done, the three bots exited the room, leaving them to their devices.
The tension in the air immediately thickened a slight notch the moment they were alone, both Drew’s and Richelle’s gazes, shifting to Sean.
"What happened?" Richelle asked calmly, however, the slight crease of her brows, gave away the worry she felt.
Sean had thought about what happened, and what he should say, in the short time they had spent in the elevator.
The feeling he had felt when he stepped through the entrance, was familiar. It was the scent of death. No more accurately, it was the feeling one, or rather he, would get, when someone stronger than him wanted to kill him.
Sean knew nobody in Elysium, or rather he has yet to meet with anybody in Elysium, for them to want him dead... likewise the original Sean, had never stepped into Elysium.
The only person from Elysium who might have a grudge with him, was Michael. But that was anger directed to Richelle and not him, and Sean didn’t believe that Michael was stupid enough to ty something like that.
In that case, it had to be someone else.
For a while now, he had the belief that the original Sean was murdered by a higher power for some reason. The unknown genes in his body, only solidified that theory the more.
If there was someone else that would have such violent reaction to his presence, and the first thing that came to their mind was to kill him, it would be the person that killed Sean.
The person who took the life of the original Sean with their own hands.
In that brief moment when Richelle had shielded him subtly with her aura, the person’s bloodlust had been unable to reach him anymore.
This gave Sean one crucial detail. The person was weaker than Richelle, and most likely, was commanded by a power that was even higher.
He had tried to find the person amongst the number of customers in the lower floor, studying their expression to the last detail, but his enhanced senses failed him.
That didn’t mean he came out empty handed either. He had noticed a young man his age, seating by a table at a corner.
He sat beside a table of two, who seemed to be quite familiar with him, just due to the way their body language responded to his presence... An ability he had received from one of his genes.
The young man appeared ordinary, and he blended in well. There was nothing out of the ordinary with him, but the moment Sean’s gaze had landed on him, something within him seemed to have shifted.
He felt like he was looking at his most hated enemy. His body had even tensed slightly just by looking at him.
That told Sean all he needed to know. That boy, was Sean’s killer. Or rather, the hand that took Sean’s life.
And judging from his appearance, although Sean was only able to glance at his side profile, he appeared to be a young vampire his age.
Most probably, he would be taking the entrance test to the academy too. Finally, he knew someone who had some answers to questions he would like to ask.
If he left Elysium to kill Sean, then perhaps he had knowledge on some things, or would know someone who did.
Sean took a deep breath.
"Someone was trying to kill me," he said.
"Kill you?"
"What?!"
Both Richelle and Drew respectively, exclaimed at the same time. One finding his words odd, the other from pure shock and a hint of fear.
"If someone was trying to kill you, I would have noticed." Richelle said matter-of-factly, her eyes trained on him like she was urging him to say the truth.
Sean had already known that she didn’t notice it. After all, the person was not trying to kill him...
He shook his head. "Let me rephrase. Someone down there wants me dead... I think know what my third affinity is now, or at least, something related to it."
