CHAPTER 64: AGAINST DEATH II: BRINGING THE BIG GUNS!

Sean’s breathing stabled and his awareness was pushed to the extreme.

Without giving him time to think, both Victor and Malek attacked.

Sean instantly shot backwards, feeling grateful in his heart, that he had been enhanced with a spider, than any other beast. The hydraulic pump, muscle movements of his limbs, were invaluable.

Malek’s clawed fingers sliced short of his nose, catching faint strands of his hair, and slicing cleanly through the filaments.

Mist bloomed out of Victor’s body, as well as shadows from his feet.

The moment the shadows appeared, a wave of disorienting screeches and wails hit Sean’s ears, throwing his world into a mess, and leaving him unprepared for a claw that almost tore open his throat.

His death sense pulsed in dangerous warning, and his eyes cleared, allowing his to lean back at the last second, and causing Malek’s claws to miss his throat.

His chest on the other hand, was not so lucky, and Malek’s claws sank into it, ripping his shirt, and tearing open his skin.

The the sensation stung, and blood began flow, but lightning coursed over the large claw wounds the next second, cauterizing them closed with a hiss, and the smell of burning flesh.

Sean’s head almost blanked from the pain, but he didn’t dare let up.

Since he came to this world, aside the vastly different societal system, technology, and biological improvement, another thing that was present, and he hadn’t known on Earth... At least not to this extent, was pain.

From the very first second he was transmigrated, pain. Genetic enhancement? Pain. His time in the pits? Pain. His training with Richelle? Pain... Exhaustion.

And if he wanted to be true with himself... The pain did not scare him.

The feeling of his life on the line, dancing on the thing edge of life and death, thinking and fighting, strategizing and brawling... It was something he could get addicted to.

A shadow left Victor’s side and struck him square in the face. Instantly, a deafening screech echoed inside his ears that he lost sense of left and right... up and down.

Shadows bloomed on his face covering his vision, and in an instant, he felt like he had become cut out from the world, abandoned by all and everything.

It wasn’t a result of physical inability to see... No, it was much deeper. He felt like he had truly been cut out from the world, like his soul had been banished and abandoned by every life.

From the ringing screech in his ears, he shuddered in pain... It wasn’t a pain the kind he was used to. He couldn’t even tell where it was coming from, but it was painful nonetheless.

Far more painful than almost everything he had experienced in his two lives, save for the Genetic enhancement process.

The panic was immediate. His breathing became fast and rapid as though oxygen eluded him, despite him begging for it.

He felt an irrational fear deep within him, that almost made him cry out. He felt hopeless, he felt abandoned. He felt lost.

In actuality, wasn’t he truly abandoned? He was in a new world, a tough one where he didn’t want to be, and with nobody he knew... Nobody he shared his heart with.

His mother had left when he was seven. His father and brother... Their fates unknown, and his fate, in the hands of a person who used him as a pawn, used him as they saw fit.

Not only had they plucked him away from his own reality, but had even brought him back to life, when he was supposed to be dead from a genetic enhancement "gone wrong".

He felt abandoned by fate, by life, and by death.

He felt...

His death sense pulsed, alerting him of extreme danger.

His eyes immediately cleared, and his body instinctively angled diagonally, weaving between, a clawed hand that almost shattered the air, and another shadow, that whizzed past his head.

Sean roared, and lightning exploded from him, electrocuting Victor and Malek... Malek who was closer to him especially, and causing them to retreat.

Sean’s heart trembled.

His cold eyes shifted towards the shadows of different creatures that pooled at Victor’s feet, feeling the waves of disorienting screeches, continuously bombarding his hearing and trying to throw off his balance.

Yet, it was nothing compared to that feeling he had when just one had touched his face.

If not for his death sense, he would have died!

’This is dangerous!’ He thought with eyes narrowed and cold, with a little flash of fear that was buried deep inside.

"Lightning and death..." Malek mused, his body twitching somewhat, but not reacting the way he should have.

’His scales!’ Sean exclaimed internally, the fading metallic glint of Malek’s scales, catching his eye.

"You’re strong, but not as much as I feared..." Malek said, his head shaking in a mixture of relief and disappointment.

"Or is there something more up your sleeve you have? It would do you well to put them all back on, as now that I have an approximate gauge of your combat power, things wouldn’t be so easy for you."

Sean didn’t respond, but the lightning that was confined to just his body, began to strike the ground... Particularly the small puddles of water around.

A huge bolt left him and struck the behemoth that had gone silent after its initial roar, standing silently a few meters away, inside the largest water puddle... Almost like a pool.

The moment Malek had arrived after it roared it had gone silent, but was restless. Sean could see it... Could feel it.

Even if the behemoth gave off nothing, the slight shifts in the puddles around, showed that it could fight, but was wary.

In that case, he just had to force it into the fight.

Two on one? Though he had considered the possibility, he never intended on facing two people on his own.

And if Malek was allowing him bring out his guns, then he would.

A sphere of ironically clean water, shot off the ground and washed over him, and instantly, his wounds were gone.

His cells sang in celebration, and his stamina recovered.

As for the out-worlder...

ROAR!!!
