Genetic Extra In The Apocalypse
Chapter 67: Kill
CHAPTER 67: KILL
Having missed Sean, the out-worlder attacked the next available target, slapping Victor into the distance.
The air split from the force, as his body streaked through the air like a torpedo.
Seeing that it got one of them, tye out-worlder immediately followed up, chasing after him.
Sean on the other hand, had claws, impaling his stomach the moment he touched land, Malek seemingly shooting out from the earth, like a burrowing rabbit.
He coughed out blood, but the chill in his eyes didn’t fade. Instead, it seemed to have even become worse.
His knee shot up, impacting Malek against his groin, and causing the scaled young man’s eyes to shoot wide, while he bent over in pain.
What greeted his face however, was Sean’s knee straight to the nose, which was followed by an elbow to his spine.
Sean was going, for another combo, when the earth suddenly splitter open beneath them, causing him to jump at the last minute, his incredible reflex allowing him that room.
Malek however, allowed himself to fall inside, and the ground closed after him, swallowing him into its depth.
Sean paused, his senses tingling, and his eyes flickering from left to right,. trying to predict where Malek intended emerge from.
Contrary to his expectations, Malek did not come out, and it that time frame, Sean allowed his body to soak on the water mana in the atmosphere, using the surrounding puddles to draw water to heal himself.
As a vampire, blood was quite necessary for his survival and improved healing factor, but with someone with affinity for water, as long as he had enough water mana around, his regenerative abilities would still remain top notch, at the cost of mana expenditure.
While this one definitely took longer to heal that his earlier claw wound, he still felt himself recovering fast enough.
But Malek would be a fool to allow Sean to finish healing, as Sean was forced to shift to the right, a massive earth spike shooting past his chest.
Lightning immediately flooded his body in generous amounts, overloading his nerves for a second, but giving him enough time and power, to shatter another dangerously appearing spike, with one stomp, while his hips twisted slightly.
His calves bulged, and he shot off from his position, reappearing some feet away, his heart pounding.
Blood dripped from his nose, and for a few seconds he felt faint and light headed, his body protesting from the overcharge of neural signals and pathways.
While boosting his reflex, and neural function with lightning was good and helped a lot, an overload could kill, or even turn one into a vegetable.
’This guy is troublesome.’ He cursed inwardly.
Not only was Malek stronger physically, but he was a Stage-1 that bothered on Stage-2... In any moment, he could take that step, and the end results wouldn’t be something that favored Sean in anyway.
His scales, were also deflective and resistant to his lightning attacks, and plus he was an earth user too, and was skilled enough to move through the ground undetected, while attacking from there.
He didn’t know a way of forcing Malek out, but if he paid enough attention, detecting his movements wouldn’t be really hard for him. Studying the minute shift of the puddles could give him answer he wanted.
The only problem was that there were so many things he needed to pay attention to, if he didn’t want to lose his life.
As intelligent as he was, he was limited in what he could and do not do. Taking in so many details at once, and processing them at the same time, was one of them that was still beyond him.
Especially in the heat of battle, where his life lied on the edge. It was far different from multitasking, where one was in most control of their environment and actions.
’Do I retreat?’ He questioned internally, his head leaning back to avoid a sweeping claw from Malek, who immediately disappeared back into the ground.
He highly doubted that Malek would want other students to see him and wonder about his identity, with the scales that covered him like a natural armor, trying to be inconspicuous, was impossible.
’By now a recovery mission must’ve already been ordered.’
Well, all these would still be true, unless Malek had a similar technology that helped Victor appear as somebody else.
Their technology appeared to be above Aegis’s, able to fool and blend in perfectly... Just as Malek had somehow managed to break the spatial barrier, from what should’ve been its end.
Their location was quite far from the Gate entrance... Deep into the gate, and at the edge of the isolated space, where one of the Academy’s spatial nodes had been setup, meaning Malek somehow had to have come from inside the Gate, rather than from the outside.
Moreso, no out-worlder had come in after him, which made Sean believe he had cleared them all up by some methods he was unsure of.
Malek was nowhere strong enough to destroy space, or destroy spatial nodes by himself, and would most probably, have needed some kind of equipment to do it.
And Victor also answered to him, setting the distinction for their hierarchy. Even if there was a tiny chance, then he was willing to bet on it that Malek did have such technology.
And if he wanted to stop him, to avoid painting a constant target at his back, then he’d either have to kill him... A very difficult decision considering that even damaging him was something he struggled with.
Or, he had to hold him for long enough for the rescue operatives, Stage-2 personnels to arrive. But Sean didn’t want anybody on his business.
’Kill him it is then’ he confirmed.
His eyes narrowed and once again, he overloaded his senses with lightning, smoothly shifting backwards, moving fluidly through the motion as though he was gliding through the air, rather than land.
With a gathering of torque in his belly, his leg whipped outwards, cutting through the air like knife, and slamming against Malek who was just emerging from the ground for his hit and runs.
The entire sequence was so smooth one would think Malek had presented his head to be played like a football.
BANG!
