"It was the instrument itself that did the work. I just activated it," he said, shaking his head. "By the way, do you see it? That giant, glowing whale up ahead?"

She followed his finger and saw a massive whale bound by huge chains. "That is..."

"Just as I said. That is the former ally of the god-king Remus, the prince of the vishaps and leader of the Deep Sea Dragonheirs, Scylla," Lu Li explained. "If we want to catch the culprit, I think we'll need his help."

"I see. Are we to break his chains? But, with a body that large, can he really help us if we unseal him?" she asked gravely.

"He will. He was sealed here because he was betrayed by the very person we're after. He probably hates him more than we do. Besides, vishaps are extremely proud creatures; they wouldn't stoop to repaying kindness with treachery. And finally, his current form is just a soul attached to spiritual dew. In a real fight, he's not at his full strength. He won't be a match for us."

Clorinde had no more questions. She decided to follow his lead.

They swam towards the chained dragon prince, who remained motionless even as they approached. Lu Li explained his plan, and just as in the game, they destroyed the anchors of the chains one by one, and the chains that had bound him for two thousand years shattered.

"Hahahaha, what a warm current! I am finally free!" the great dragon-whale roared, swimming freely in the deep sea. He then looked down at the two small figures. "And you two... are my saviors. So small... did you come from the surface?"

"It's just that you're so big that we seem small," Lu Li said. "Prince of the vishaps, we saved you because we seek your aid."

"Of course. I didn't think you would go to such trouble without wanting anything in return. If there is anything I can do, just say the word. Consider it a token of my gratitude!"

"We came here to deal with the remnants of the Remurian dynasty who are plotting a revival. The very culprit who left you without a physical form, forced to exist as a soul."

"That traitor... you mean Boethius... he has awakened... I see..."

"He killed a person on the surface, which is how we tracked him down. His unknown plan, whatever it is, is surely not good for the current Fontaine."

"I understand... I don't know why you are so purposeful and seem to know so much, but I have no objection to helping you," Scylla said. "As for his plan... I have some idea. Remus once told me... he probably wants to use the power of 'Phobos' to control the souls of the living, or... even more madly, destroy the seal on the Primordial Seawater and turn Fontaine into an underwater city."

Clorinde's expression changed drastically.

Lord Scylla, please open the Janus Gate for us. Then, when we reach that palace, it will be the day he is torn to pieces."

The dragon-whale nodded, then lowered his head and released three powerful columns of water that shattered the seal below, revealing a huge opening. At his urging, Lu Li and Clorinde followed the rushing current and dived down.
