Genshin Impact: The 12th Fatui Harbinger
Chapter 149 - 148: Daughter of Snezhnaya
Snezhevna is Kseniya's surname.
Or rather, it is the surname given by the Fatui to the children they adopted.
Its meaning is "Daughter of the Snow," also known as "Daughter of Snezhnaya."
Kseniya Snezhevna.
The full meaning is "hospitable daughter of Snezhnaya."
She had thought that she would die in a foreign land, never imagining that the person who could subdue her with his bare hands would actually be the new Fatui recruit she had met once before.
She had indeed thought that he might have gone undercover like her, but she never expected that he would actually...
This wasn't just going undercover; this was holy-crap-level undercover!
He was actually that famous Battousai of Inazuma?!
"Shh."
After making a hushing gesture, Bai Luo covered Kseniya with the blanket and walked towards the door.
Because hurried footsteps were already approaching from that direction.
"Mr. Battousai, are you alright? It sounded like there was a fight over here."
An urgent knock on the door sounded, and the patrolling soldier asked with some anxiety.
Although Bai Luo's name, Himura Kenshin, had already spread, the people of the resistance still preferred to call him Battousai.
Himura Kenshin was a name, but Battousai had become a symbol of hope.
After hiding the Mist Lantern by the door, Bai Luo reached out and pushed open the door to the room.
"It's nothing, just a few Electro Cicin. I've dealt with them."
The room was in a mess, and filled with the traces left by the Electro element.
But from Bai Luo's condition, he seemed to have been unaffected.
That's right. This was the man who could even injure a god. How could he be hurt by a few Electro Cicin?
However, judging from the extent of the damage to the furniture, it didn't look like Electro Cicin, but more like Specters.
Perhaps Mr. Battousai was mistaken?
"Do you need us to arrange a new room for you?"
The night patrol soldier asked enthusiastically.
"It's just some damaged furniture. The bed is still fine. I often eat and sleep in the wild. Having a bed to sleep on is enough."
"Alright then, we'll continue our patrol. Just call for us if you need anything."
After confirming that Bai Luo was not injured, the night patrol soldiers left.
Bai Luo then turned his gaze to Kseniya on the bed.
Actually, to determine if she was Kseniya, he only needed to check if she had the mark he had left on her.
But in his Battousai state, he didn't have the skills of "Black" and had no way to confirm the mark.
The situation with the Divine Priestess was special. He wasn't sure if the jellyfish-like things floating in the air had a surveillance function, so he didn't dare to risk switching to his "Black" state.
Fortunately, he had a clever trick called [Judging by the Chest], which could identify all women. Otherwise, a case of mistaken killing would have occurred.
Walking to the side of the bed, he picked up the stool that had been struck by lightning and shook it gently.
Hmm... not bad, still usable.
After sitting down, Bai Luo said softly, "They're all gone. You can come out now."
The person in the bed was silent for half a minute before slowly lifting the blanket.
Humiliating. It was truly humiliating.
If she had lost to the famous Battousai, it would have been nothing.
But if this Battousai was someone she knew, and a former junior of hers...
Let it be destroyed. Let's just start life over.
"I was wondering why I couldn't find you in the camp. So you were sent to Watatsumi Island?"
Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit awkward, Bai Luo took the initiative to speak, easing the tension.
"Yeah. The resistance on Watatsumi Island was making a big move at the time. Plus, I had learned some shrine maiden knowledge from Lyudmila before, so my superiors sent me here to be a shrine maiden."
Kseniya sat on the bed with her legs tucked under her, explaining the reason in detail.
She wasn't a reserved person to begin with, and with Bai Luo's deliberate guidance, she gradually regained her usual liveliness.
"Is that so? No wonder you're mixed in with the shrine maidens of Sangonomiya Shrine. But is it really okay for you to be out so late at night?"
"Don't worry. Although I've become a shrine maiden of Sangonomiya Shrine, they obviously don't trust me very much. So for now, I don't live with the other shrine maidens, but alone in Bourou Village."
Allowing her to become a shrine maiden and serve by Sangonomiya Kokomi's side was already the limit.
After all, she was not a native of Watatsumi.
The reason she was promoted, besides Igor's efforts, was that Sangonomiya wanted to send a signal to the resistance members who had come to them.
Even outsiders would be treated equally.
But whether this equal treatment was real or not was up for interpretation.
"Speaking of which, you're really not what you seem, kid. To think that the little guy who could get lost in Chinju Forest has become the legendary Battousai. If you make it big in the future, remember to help me out, your big sister."
Her legs tucked under her gradually turned into crossed legs, and Kseniya became more and more relaxed.
It was as if the two of them had returned to that forest in Chinju Forest, sitting in that worn-out tent, boiling milk they had found from the Hilichurls and brewing black tea they had scavenged from the Kairagi.
It was just a pity that there was no jam or fire-water, and no gentle moonlight.
"I'd like to, but given my current position, there shouldn't be any room for promotion."
"Don't be discouraged. I have high hopes for you. Although you're not a native of Snezhnaya, the Fatui doesn't look at nationality. That lucky guy called the Instructor is from Liyue, just like you.
If you ask me, instead of letting that Instructor be the Twelfth Harbinger, they should have let you. Our little brother Bai Luo is handsome and strong. Battousai sounds much better than his 'Instructor' title."
Her two little feet dangled by the side of the bed, swinging back and forth. When Kseniya got to the happy part, she couldn't help but giggle.
Compared to when she was fighting, her smile was indeed much cuter now.
"That's right. Sooner or later, I'll pull that Instructor down and let him taste the milk tea we made with our own hands. Hmm... and Childe."
Bai Luo gave a mysterious smile, a fierce expression on his face.
"No, no, no. It's better to say these things in private. If someone hears it, it could cause big trouble."
It was fine for her to talk big. For high-risk professions like theirs, it was common to talk big to relieve stress.
But Bai Luo was different. With his potential, even if he couldn't make Her Majesty the Tsaritsa make another exception and appoint a thirteenth Harbinger, he would still be able to replace a future Harbinger who died or retired.
His future was limitless.
She didn't want Bai Luo to lose his bright future because of her big talk.
"Don't worry, I know. It's just the two of us here anyway. Remember that saying?"
"Hehe, is it that one? Of course I remember."
"The heavens are vast, the earth is wide, but I (sister) am the greatest!"
After saying this, the two of them laughed together.
Bai Luo rarely relaxed in front of others, even when facing Childe and the Geo Archon.
He was always cautious, always avoiding any possible dangers.
So far, the only people who could make him completely relax, besides little Collei... were probably Kseniya.
In this terrible era, to be able to see you alive with my own eyes...
It's really good.
