Genshin x Minecraft: Building the Temple of Virtue
Chapter 315: 315: The Quest Ram
With one last reverse shot, Tartaglia brought down the skeleton archer.
At last, all the monsters crumbled into materials scattered on the ground.
He was drenched in a comfortable layer of sweat, grinning with exhilaration.
"This world is amazing! In Teyvat, battles like this aren't something you see every day."
Diluc gave a dismissive snort.
"It was just a few zombies."
"Zombies are strong too," Tartaglia replied with a shrug.
"For one thing, my elemental power is heavily suppressed here, so I can only rely on pure weapon skill.
And zombies themselves are physically strong — if one lands a hit on me, it hurts."
"That means when I'm surrounded, I have to make sure they never touch me even once."
"Plus, with those skeleton archers taking potshots from a distance…"
"Honestly, it's a great way to train adaptability and situational awareness."
He then turned to Diluc with a serious look.
"I mean it, I really recommend you try fighting a horde of zombies. They're great at taking a beating!"
Ryen and the others just smiled without commenting.
After all, Zhongli and the immortals had battle experience so absurdly rich that they had nothing to learn here.
Xiao, once he got used to this world, had famously taken an unenchanted trident and beaten down over a dozen zombies — without letting a single one lay a finger on him.
They didn't need to refine technique… and, honestly, too few zombies wouldn't even be enough for that kind of training.
As for Ganyu and Hu Tao, they simply weren't that interested in combat.
And Ryen… well, truth be told, to this day he knew no formal martial arts or swordplay at all.
With an enchanted longsword, all he really did was sweep and slash.
When your raw strength reached an extreme, fancy technique stopped mattering.
Only someone like Tartaglia — who loved combat to his core — would intentionally handicap himself, throw himself into desperate fights, and use them to refine his skills.
With the totems of undying and the saturation system in play, he truly saw this world as a training ground for combat mastery.
The rest of the group, however, wasn't paying much attention to Tartaglia's fight anymore.
The surrounding trees were no longer the towering canopy trees, but rather oaks more like those in the overworld.
They had reached a clearing, and oddly enough, not far ahead there seemed to be a sharply defined border.
On one side, the soil was a dark yellow — almost like deeper-colored sand — yet the trees growing there remained lush.
On the other side, more of the great canopy trees, with faint points of light glimmering within the forest, giving it a serene beauty.
And the forest light itself seemed to be subtly shifting…
It had the feeling of "heaven on one side, hell on the other."
Lisa murmured thoughtfully,
"It looks like… two different regions?"
Then she glanced at Ryen — who, sure enough, had already pulled out the book from before.
Seeing his movement, the others looked over as well.
After a moment of thought, Ryen nodded.
"Enchanted Forest: the veins of magic flow here, and in the depths of the rainbow lies a hidden puzzle.
Danger level: Very low.
Resource value: Low.
Exploration value: Medium."
"Specialties: Canopy Trees, Rainbow Oak Trees.
Deep within this forest lives a beautiful creature, its body glowing with mysterious runes.
Perhaps, if you find it, you might just obtain some sort of treasure."
Hearing this, Lisa murmured softly,
"So the left side is the Enchanted Forest, with Rainbow Oak Trees and some kind of mysterious creature?
What exactly is a Rainbow Oak Tree?"
Ryen paused for a moment before explaining:
"A Rainbow Oak Tree is actually what's called a 'Conversion Tree.'
When you plant one in this world, it transforms the biome within a fifteen-meter radius into the Enchanted Forest biome.
In other words, it's a tree that assimilates its surroundings.
"Of course, it's also quite beautiful — Rainbow Oaks shed a lot of glowing runes."
Ningguang gave a small nod and spoke quietly,
"So, in theory, planting one in Teyvat would transform the surrounding area into an Enchanted Forest?"
"In theory, yes." Ryen nodded.
"But the exact range of influence isn't clear — it might be even larger… Why? You have an idea?"
Ningguang smiled faintly, thinking aloud,
"The Enchanted Forest has Canopy Tree and that strange creature.
Since this area is described as having a very low danger level,
it likely doesn't have zombies, skeletons, or other such monsters.
"If that's the case, the benefits outweigh the risks for us.
Canopy Tree Wood seems like a fine-quality material.
If we plant a Rainbow Oak in Teyvat…
we could directly harvest large quantities of this world's specialty resources there."
Ryen hadn't expected Ningguang to think of using the Rainbow Oak Tree this way.
He liked the idea well enough, but…
"I still think just planting trees and speeding them up with bone meal is simpler and more efficient."
He shrugged.
"The Rainbow Oak Tree isn't all that important — but we can take one back for Albedo to study.
Worst case, we can just use it as a decorative tree!
Hang a swing from it for Nahida and Klee — now that would be a nice experience."
The others couldn't help but smile and shake their heads.
Leave it to Ryen to take something shrouded in mystery and suggest using it as garden decor.
"What about that mysterious creature?" Ganyu asked curiously.
"It's a Quest Ram," Ryen replied after thinking for a moment.
"Quest Ram?" Everyone looked at him in puzzlement. He nodded.
"The Quest Ram is one of this world's special native creatures.
But if you kill it, it won't drop anything — not even wool."
This was the first time anyone had heard of such a bizarre creature.
"Then what's the point of it? Your book spent quite a lot of words describing it," Hu Tao said, clinging to his arm with wide, expectant eyes.
Ryen pinched her cheek.
"The Quest Ram doesn't drop any items, true.
But it's not meant to be killed — what it gives you is much better than mutton."
