CHAPTER 399: CHAPTER 399: IF I DON’T ENTER HELL, WHO WILL?_1
Little Ying turned into a fish!
"God, this place is too magical! It must be where the Huaxia immortals live," exclaimed the foreigner in astonishment.
There were seven people here in total. Aside from Su Muyue and Zuo Lingyun, Chu Hao recognized no one else. However, there was one person Chu Hao did recognize: an individual dressed in black leather, the only one who had fought against the Ghost Samurai. She wore a mask, her eyes exceptionally cold. Her long eyelashes and curved eyebrows suggested she was a woman.
Almost everyone who had survived to reach this place was no ordinary person. Even the foreigner looked as though he had weathered many battles.
Chu Hao asked, "Where’s Su Changyu?"
Su Muyue replied helplessly, "Third Master said he saw an acquaintance and went after him."
An acquaintance? Must be an ally of the Ghost Offering Clan. The members of the Ghost Offering Clan are already starting to gather; this isn’t good news.
Since it was the only path left, everyone had to take it together. Below the bridge, densely packed purple flower buds carpeted the area, reflecting a purple luminescence from the lakebed, creating an illusion of breathtaking beauty.
The foreigner marveled again, "Huaxia Country is truly incredible."
Everyone glanced sideways at the foreigner. Did he actually have the nerve to stick with their group? Wasn’t he afraid of getting beaten up?
The foreigner clearly didn’t care. "As a seasoned adventurer," he said excitedly, "I must uncover the secrets of this place."
He hadn’t noticed the hostile glares from everyone present.
Under the bridge, a ripple disturbed the water. Chu Hao saw a strange fish swim by. There’s danger beneath this lake too.
He activated his Ghost Eye skill. That fish is very strange, probably a demi-demon. Killing it would surely yield rewards, but it’ll be tricky to get it in the water.
"TEE HEE..."
Two children were giggling and playing up ahead. The golden boy and jade girl materialized, visible to everyone.
"Ghosts." Some faces turned grim.
Soon, the golden boy and jade girl vanished.
After crossing the bridge, they discovered that the lake was crisscrossed with numerous bridges leading in every direction.
Ahead, on another bridge, were members of the He Family. Only a few of them had survived the previous disaster.
Chu Hao saw strange fish climbing up from beneath the bridge, apparently about to ambush the He Family members. To his surprise, the strange fish had hands and feet, and its back was covered in barbs. It crawled onto a stone pillar. This was no fish; it was clearly a monster.
The monstrous fish lunged, its leap incredibly powerful. It bit into a man’s neck, and blood splattered everywhere. The man screamed as his throat was torn open, bitten to death on the spot.
The He Family members panicked, using Talisman Techniques to fight the monster fish. But no sooner had they killed one than many more leaped up from beneath the bridge.
Just then, the foreigner with their group screamed, uttering something in English. "What the hell is that!"
He fired two shots but missed, and the creature vanished.
Everyone cursed, "Are you trying to get us killed? What if the bridge breaks?"
The foreigner gave an embarrassed smile. "Trust me, I really saw something—a very strange fish."
As soon as he finished speaking, monstrous fish appeared on the bridge. One bit down on a person’s foot; the sound of breaking bones was clearly audible, its bite force extremely powerful.
"Help... help me!" the man cried out in agony.
No one went to save him. They could all see a continuous stream of monstrous fish emerging from under the bridge; there were far too many.
"Run!" everyone shouted in terror.
Su Muyue was about to run when she noticed Chu Hao standing still. "Chu Hao, what are you doing?" she exclaimed. "Run!"
Run? What for? These are all Experience Points!
Chu Hao raised his arm, declaring righteously, "You go first, I’ll cover our retreat! If I don’t go to Hell, who will?"
"Ding... Host has made a grand gesture, gaining 700 Pretentiousness Points."
Honestly, when Chu Hao said that, everyone looked at him strangely, but their perception of him began to change.
The foreigner bellowed, seemingly moved by Chu Hao’s words, "Hero of Huaxia Country, I will fight by your side!"
My god. Has this foreigner watched too many action movies from Europe and America?
How could Chu Hao let him stay and steal his kills? "Get going!" he said firmly. "This is none of your concern. If anyone’s going to die, it’ll be me first."
The foreigner shook his head, deeply moved, and said in broken Huaxia language, "I won’t leave. You, my friend—I, Louis Dajiba, am making this bond with you now!"
Louis Dajiba! You’re incredible!
Another scream. The person previously attacked by the monster fish was now being mauled by several of them. Blood pooled on the ground, and soon, he stopped moving.
Chu Hao cursed, "Damn it, are you going or not? I, a Taoist Master, have never needed comrades!"
Dajiba’s eyes were red. In Chu Hao, he seemed to see his old comrades who had covered his retreat in the past. He shook his head resolutely. "I won’t go."
Chu Hao was speechless. This foreigner has definitely watched too many blockbusters. He couldn’t be bothered with him anymore and rushed forward, Night Demon Blade in hand.
The monster fish were ugly, about half a meter long, scuttling on their hands and feet. They had rows of teeth, like steel saws, and their bite was excruciatingly painful. The person who had been knocked down was torn into several pieces, a bloody, mangled mess.
With a single slash, Chu Hao cut one monster in half.
"Ding... Killed half-demon water monster fish. Gained 5,000 Experience Points."
Chu Hao was elated. Experience Points, just as I thought!
The monster fish made gurgling noises, seemingly enraged, and rushed towards Chu Hao.
He sneered and prepared for a massacre.
"RAT-AT-AT-AT!"
Dajiba, holding a submachine gun, said earnestly, "Don’t be afraid, friend. I’m here."
Chu Hao was dumbstruck. This damn guy is stealing my kills! My Experience Points!
Before he could think further, monsters kept surging out from under the bridge, as numerous as tadpoles.
"Blade Energy Slash!"
Chu Hao swung his blade horizontally, killing five or six more.
"Ding... Killed water monster fish. Gained 5,000 Experience Points."
"Ding... Killed water monster fish. Gained 5,000 Experience Points."
"Ding... Killed water monster fish. Gained 5,000 Experience Points."
"Die! Die!"
Louis Dajiba fired wildly, shouting "Die!" His marksmanship was formidable—practically one bullet per water monster. Chu Hao couldn’t get any kills.
Chu Hao was furious. "Ji Ba, get the hell out of here!" he yelled.
Louis Dajiba also got angry. "Friend, am I, Ji Ba, that sort of person? Rest assured, I’ve got your back, unless I die!"
There’s nothing more tragic in the world than this. I don’t give a damn about you, yet you shamelessly stick to me, acting all eager, and even steal my kills. This is freaking ridiculous!
Chu Hao was so angry he wanted to kick him. He hadn’t managed to kill a single one of the water monster fish in front of him.
The number of water monster fish was increasing; many more could be seen swimming up from the depths of the lake.
Su Muyue, who had already run quite a distance, shouted, "Chu Hao, hurry up and go! They’re attacking the bridge!"
Chu Hao killed dozens of them, but the sheer number of monster fish was overwhelming. One nearly bit him; if not for Dajiba covering him, he would have been bitten.
