Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge
Chapter 112: Chess Prodigy Lolita
CHAPTER 112: CHESS PRODIGY LOLITA
Cecilia calmly twisted her wrist, grabbing Jaxon’s arm with force that was gentle but enough to make him cry out in pain.
"It hurts, it hurts!"
The crowd hurried over, and Mary pointed at her as she commanded, "Cecilia! You horrible woman, let him go!"
Cecilia didn’t want to trouble Elena any further, so she let go and said disdainfully, "You overestimate yourself."
Grayson examined this cold-hearted woman and spoke up, "What a rude child, are you the one who took my brother and sister-in-law’s money to play the stock market?"
She wiped her hands, not even lifting her head.
"So what if I am? Monopoly on cosmetics, the Anderson family, and taking loans—any of these could make you lose everything until you’re worse off than a beggar. I naturally can’t let them take this risk."
He laughed disdainfully, "Little girl, I’ve been trading stocks for decades; I have far more experience and judgment than you do. But if you want to look for trouble, then I won’t stop you."
With that, he looked at James.
"Big Brother, Sister-in-law, I’ve said my piece. Whether you invest in this project is up to you. You’ve been in the business world for decades; it’s not right to let a child lead you by the nose."
With that, he called Mary and Jaxon.
"Let’s go."
Before leaving, Mary crossed her arms and spoke haughtily.
"I didn’t want to say this, but don’t forget that Jaxon is a Lawrence—related to that tyrant in Star City. With the Anderson family status and Jaxon’s background, this project is bound to be profitable. Don’t regret it later!"
Lawrence?
Cecilia looked at Jaxon, suddenly remembering that she had indeed seen him at a Lawrence family gathering where Alex had been put in a tough spot.
It was just that he was sitting too far away at that time, and he didn’t seem to say a single word.
Steven likely didn’t even know his name.
After Mary and the others left, Elena looked at Cecilia in worry.
"This Jaxon does have some connections to the Lawrence family. Should I talk to Madam Marianne and find out what’s going on?"
Cecilia settled them on the sofa and shook her head.
"No, you don’t need to worry."
Elena nodded. Suddenly noticing Cecilia had come alone, she asked, "Where’s Emma? Why didn’t she come with you?"
Cecilia smiled helplessly and explained, "She’s at home doing a livestream."
Elena and James were both surprised. Could such a young child already livestream?
‘No way, I must go and support her stream!’
Thinking this, she asked Cecilia to help her find Emma’s livestream page. At that moment, Emma was in the middle of an intense game with Thomas.
"Oh no, I lost!"
Her frustrated voice had Thomas quickly sending her a carnival gift, encouraging her through the comments.
[We’re finally even after several rounds. Don’t be upset.]
Elena couldn’t bear to see Emma upset, and quickly sent a few more carnival gifts as encouragement.
Emma noticed a user named "Elena" sending her so many carnival gifts, curiously clicking on the profile and seeing Elena’s picture.
She happily greeted her online.
"Great Grandma, you’re here! Just watch my game, okay? Mommy said you’re running low on funds now, so I don’t want you to spend money on gifts for me~"
Her thoughtfulness quickly dispelled Elena’s gloom, leaving her with a wide smile as she watched Emma’s livestream.
By the time the stream ended, Emma’s account had gained another eight hundred thousand.
She closed her computer and let out a long breath.
"Just another hundred thousand to pay for Dad’s watch~"
The boss of the livestream software company took this opportunity during the stream to obtain a clear frontal photo of Emma through human ingenuity.
The photo showed her in a cute little dress with pigtails, looking absolutely adorable.
He excitedly told his assistant, "Quick, spread this photo around. Title it ’Chess Prodigy Lolita’s Face Revealed’, and make it as sensational as possible!"
The assistant complied, and soon news featuring Emma’s full face appeared online.
Steven was busy with work and hardly paid attention to the entertainment news online. However, Ethan was constantly surfing the internet, so he immediately saw the news.
"Damn! It’s over!"
He shouted in shock, then hurriedly called Zane.
Coincidentally, just as Amy turned on her phone, she saw this trending news.
She wasn’t originally interested, but the pair of eyes being displayed in the news reeled her in. Upon opening it, she saw Emma’s full face.
‘Alex? How did he end up in the news?’
She quickly read through the news, finding surprise after surprise—first it was that Alex was live streaming now, the second being that he was dressed as a girl. This did not seem like something he would do by himself.
Most importantly, Steven definitely wouldn’t allow Alex to be doing something like this.
After some thought, she quickly got up and headed to the Lawrence Group.
On Zane’s end, after receiving Ethan’s call, he was initially puzzled as to how Alex’s photo had been spread around. The next moment, he went into professional mode as he traced the sources and blocked the news within three minutes.
In three minutes, the message showed only three views: his, Ethan’s, and one unknown user—the situation was still salvageable.
Following the leads, he tracked down the boss of the livestream company.
Fearing Steven might notice the slip-up, Ethan hurried to the Lawrence Group.
He rushed into Steven’s office, where Steven was still busy with work.
"Why are you here?"
He cheekily approached.
"I missed you, came to check on you. By the way, my phone is out of battery. Can I use yours for a sec?"
Focused on his work, Steven merely nodded at him.
Ethan quickly grabbed his phone, opening it and checking the news; no updates.
He exhaled a long sigh of relief and put the phone down, relieved that he had come in time.
Steven raised an eyebrow.
"Didn’t you say you’re going to use my phone?"
Ethan sheepishly scratched his head.
"I forgot the number..."
Steven gave him a speechless look, while Ethan continued.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll be off then."
With those words, he stepped out of Steven’s office, just missing Amy, who was walking in.
‘Amy? What’s she doing here?’
On the other hand, Amy held her phone as she headed straight toward Steven.
"Steven, look at this news. Isn’t this Alex in it?"
