CHAPTER 120: EMERGENCY

Cecilia and Emma were just returning to the hotel earlier, but Emma mentioned that she was still a bit hungry and wanted to try the small cakes in the hotel’s restaurant. Thus, the two of them made a stop there first.

While they were dining, Emma had received an urgent message from Alex.

[Emergency! It seems Dad has found you two! He’s on his way to the hotel now!]

Emma pondered the situation. She hadn’t yet told Cecilia that Steven had recognized her during a live broadcast. Given the nature of Cecilia’s relationship with Steven, Emma was worried things might lead to a conflict and a fallout between the two. Alex also thought the same, so they agreed not to let Steven know that Emma was his daughter yet.

Emma wanted to rush back to the hotel and pretend to be asleep, but as soon as she reached their room door, she ran into Steven.

Cecilia frowned. “What do you mean?”

Steven approached Emma step by step, incredulous. Emma had been preparing for such a situation, having put on a mask and a hat with her hoodie under the excuse that it was a little cold to Cecilia. Her mom didn’t suspect a thing.

Cecilia protectively placed her daughter behind her.

“Mr. Lawrence, it’s quite late. Is there something you need?”

Could he have discovered that she was Alex’s mom?

Steven shook his head, and there was a look of excitement in his eyes that Cecilia had noticed for the first time.

He reached out his hand, just about to remove Emma’s mask, when Zane suddenly shouted, “Oh no! The location changed!”

Steven frowned and turned back to ask, “What does the location change mean?”

“The young miss’s location. It’s now in Africa...”

Confused by the location tracker, Zane apologized to Steven.

“I might have made a mistake...”

Steven looked bemused. On the other hand, Cecilia also felt a bit uneasy due to his strange actions, afraid he might question her about Alex.

“Mr. Lawrence, if there’s nothing else, we’re going back now.”

With that, she swiftly opened the door and took Emma inside, closing the door with a bang.

“This Steven is getting more and more erratic...”

Emma nodded in agreement.

‘Daddy is really getting smarter; he almost recognized me.’

At that moment, her watch received a message from Alex.

[Danger averted.]

Emma smiled and quickly replied to him.

[You’re amazing, brother~]

Alex sat in front of his computer with a satisfied smile.

He had hacked into Zane’s phone and changed the location settings.

When he asked Emma where she thought the location should be, she said the farther away, the better. Therefore, he set it in a remote area in Africa.

Now, Steven definitely wouldn’t be able to find her,

In the car, Steven looked at the location in Africa, his expression dark.

Africa? In a slum, in a region where there’s just one household for ten kilometers, there’s no way his daughter would be there!

Then again, it couldn’t possibly be Cecilia’s daughter; after all, Cecilia had met Alex. If she knew the two kids were siblings, she would have wanted to take him away already. After all, she didn’t seem like the type to swallow her grievances...

Besides, even if she were Cecilia’s daughter, the location change happened right in front of everyone. Cecilia couldn’t have manipulated the location directly in front of them, considering the fact that all she had at the time was an uneaten ice cream.

That meant there was only one possibility.

“Can you throw that piece of junk away?”

Zane innocently scratched his head.

“The software has always been stable; how could it have misbehaved today?”

Steven rubbed his temples.

That software had never worked properly.

Moreover, it almost made Cecilia and her daughter think he was out of his mind.

Maybe it wasn’t about throwing the software away, but about throwing Zane out.

The next morning, it was time for Emma to go back to school. She woke up groggily as usual and headed to school.

Just as the car started, she received a message from Thomas.

[Little Emma, would you like to play chess today?]

Emma thought for a moment and replied.

[Not today, I’m competing in a Taekwondo preliminary competition at school~]

This kindergarten-organized preliminary competition was a preparatory event for the provincial contest, selecting a few skilled children for the upcoming provincial competition.

Thomas responded, [Alright, good luck!]

[Thank you, Grandpa~]

Thomas, realizing he hadn’t been out in a while and feeling quite well lately, called for his butler.

“Prepare the car, I want to go to Arleston Kindergarten!”

He wanted to watch this little one’s competition and cheer her on!

When Emma arrived at the classroom, she saw a group of kids warming up.

The kids gathered around her as soon as they saw her arrive.

“Emma, can you show me how to do this move?”

After she had demonstrated a move, they all clapped their hands.

“Emma, you’re amazing!”

She nodded, never getting tired of compliments as she demonstrated her moves more enthusiastically.

The kids watched her with admiration, clapping one after another.

Off to the side, Kenny watched the scene, puffing up in anger.

He walked over to Emma and gave her a hard push.

“Emma, what are you so proud of?! Just wait; my dad said you will definitely not qualify today!”
