Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge
Chapter 124: You wouldn’t understand
CHAPTER 124: YOU WOULDN’T UNDERSTAND
Hearing what Zane said, Steven was a bit surprised; the multiple occasions of Cecilia mentioning Alex before flashed through his mind.
Already knowing that his son and daughter had swapped identities, did this mean his daughter was also Cecilia’s daughter?
‘No, wait! Perhaps there’s some misunderstanding here!’
Thinking of this, he quickly instructed Zane.
"Investigate Cecilia, as detailed as possible!"
Zane replied, "Understood!"
After giving Zane his instructions, Steven looked at Emma, who was sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons. He smiled and asked, "Alex, how do you think Daddy should bring your sister home?"
Emma tilted her little head and thought for a moment.
Cecilia’s biggest concern was that if Steven found out about her, he might forcefully take her away. Why not first ask him if he would do something like that?
"Daddy, what method do you want to use?"
Steven pondered. If it were his usual style, he would have gone to get the child back the second he found out, agreeing to any price requested.
However, looking at the soft and cute Emma beside him now, he came to the realization that taking her away by force might hurt her feelings.
He didn’t want his adorable daughter to suffer any harm.
Lowering his gaze, he said, "It depends on what your mom requests."
Emma thought about it for a while, then a bright idea struck her.
"Daddy, why don’t you marry Mommy? Then all problems would be solved, and our family of four could live together!"
Steven was amused by her innocent suggestion. Marriage wasn’t that simple, but when he looked into her bright eyes, he suddenly recalled the same pair of eyes that Cecilia had.
She indeed also had those same clear and bright eyes.
He quickly shook his head. Could Cecilia be Alex and Emma’s mother?
The next morning, Steven personally took Emma to school, also to make sure John understood where his place was. After dropping his daughter off and watching her happily skip into the kindergarten, he drove away.
Zane, who was driving, glanced through the rearview mirror at Steven’s still-worried face, unable to help but speak up.
"Mr. Lawrence, this John today... No, actually, for the next month, he likely won’t be able to come to the kindergarten at all. There’s no need to worry so much."
After John had gone home yesterday, he learned that someone from the Lawrence family had come and announced the cancellation of all their cooperations with the Anderson family. Mona was anxious and asked the reason behind this, but the person only showed her a photo of John in return.
By then, she already understood that John had offended the Lawrence family. Thus, after coming home, the Anderson family scolded him for a long time. Now, they were all busy figuring out how they would apologize to Steven and had no time to worry about the kindergarten work.
Steven glared at Zane and retorted, "You wouldn’t understand until you become a father yourself—especially if you had a daughter..."
Alex was a boy, and he had been sensible and smart since childhood. He resolved many of his issues before Steven even realized they existed. Coupled with the fact that he was a member of the Lawrence family, no matter at kindergarten or other social venues, people were always somewhat amazed at him; he didn’t have many difficulties getting by.
However, Emma was lively and innocent. Add to the fact that she didn’t have much of a family background, she was constantly getting bullied in kindergarten. It was hard to imagine what problems she could be facing where Steven couldn’t see her.
Thinking of this made his heart ache again. He quickly took out his phone to check the surveillance footage of Emma in her kindergarten class.
In these elite nurseries, kids were highly valued, so parents were allowed to view their children’s activities through class surveillance. However, it was indeed his first time checking it.
Zane shook his head helplessly, seeing the competent CEO turn into a doting father.
On the other hand, Emma noticed the unusually quiet and harmonious atmosphere upon entering her classroom. Looking around, she noticed that Kenny, who was usually causing a ruckus every day, was absent from class.
Noticing that all the children had arrived, the teacher began her announcement.
"Kenny has some family matters and will be studying at home for a while instead of coming to kindergarten..."
Before she could even finish speaking, a cheer erupted among the children celebrating Kenny’s departure.
Emma also happily shared this news with Alex, and the two agreed to celebrate in the little garden during lunch break.
As soon as lunchtime came, she eagerly asked the teacher for leave and rushed to the garden to meet Alex.
The two little ones were overjoyed to meet, chatting nonstop. In the end, they decided to continue pretending to be each other, hoping their parents would marry each other soon.
That afternoon, Steven came to pick Emma up again, with his car hidden in a spot where ordinary people wouldn’t be able to notice it. As parents went to pick up their children in an orderly fashion, he squinted his eyes as he saw a little figure emerging from the kindergarten.
