Chen Mo had just walked from the ’Kun’ trigram. The ’Qian’ trigram he now stood on was still at the edge of the map, adjacent to only three other slabs. After discounting the ’Kun’ trigram he had just connected from, he naturally only had two options left.

He scrutinized the two possible choices. Directly in front of the ’Qian’ trigram was a stone slab with the Kan trigram; he knew that Metal generates Water, so it was obvious he should move forward.

Among these four trigrams, only the Xun trigram, representing Southeast, is close to South; it could be considered immediately adjacent. The other trigrams are two, or even three or four, directions away—clearly not close enough.

Based on this guess, Chen Mo moved towards the Xun trigram with a touch of apprehension.
