Global Evolution: I Became A Zombie!
Chapter 186 - 182: Blast Off (2)
CHAPTER 186: CHAPTER 182: BLAST OFF (2)
Meanwhile, at the other end of the battlefield, Lian was swinging her weapon nonstop. The endless horde really was endless, unlike the hordes she had faced in China.
At first, she could kill the zombies, but when she did, it was like something else took over them. Within moments, they rose back, this time even stronger than before.
To make things worse, they didn’t seem to die even when their heads were decapitated! Some kept fighting even if they were sliced down the middle.
But perhaps the most bizarre fact was that some undead were taking organs from fallen undead to keep fighting!
They didn’t have an arm? They’d take it off the ground.
No legs? No problem, just climb on top of another undead and merge with them.
They are like cockroaches!
Thanatophage was a weapon made to slaughter zombies, but even it failed to kill them in one go.
It was then that she spotted another undead. She had skin made of porcelain, and a pair of black wings. Although she was standing at the far end of the horde, her presence was the biggest among the zombies.
A strange black aura was constantly leaking out of her body, repairing any damage Lian did to the zombies. She knew that defeating this horde wouldn’t be so easy.
If it were, the ships above wouldn’t be in such a mess.
They underestimated him.
Lian thought as Blaze’s face flashed before her. They did underestimate him, but was she any better?
Ever since she got her hands on the anti-zombie weapon, she considered herself stronger than everyone else. This battle was supposed to be one of many she had already won.
Yet, she was being pushed back by those strange zombies. It was almost like she had lived her life in a different world.
She couldn’t even imagine if someone like Blaze had appeared in China. Perhaps she would have died a dozen times at his hand.
While fending off the horde, she looked in the distance, only to realize the aliens who were there to help her were gone after the bright flash.
The source of the light? Were the aliens she was fighting for.
"If they can kill their people... then—"
Just as she was questioning her standing within the alliance, the ship turned its laser towards her. As it approached, the laser eviscerated the zombies, even the ones who kept coming back.
For a moment, Lian thought they were there to help her.
But that thought only lasted for a minute as the laser didn’t stop and kept approaching her. She could feel the heat coming from it, even through her suit. The air around her bent, causing her perception to get messed up.
Just as she was about to be swallowed by it, the laser suddenly went out. There was a loud explosion above. She looked up and saw a ship had crashed onto the other, shoving it away.
As the ships crashed, instead of fear, Lian felt relieved.
She was saved... by the zombie’s fleet.
"...someone make this make sense," Lian mumbled, looking into the crater where Blaze had disappeared.
Her eyes also fell on the humans that were fighting alongside the zombies. Perhaps the Collective didn’t tell her the entire truth.
A thought flickered into her head. One where Blaze was an unfortunate victim who, despite losing his humanity, chose to help humans.
In her mind, it was the only explanation for why humans were fighting for him. She didn’t think it was coercion or force, nor did she think they were his slaves, which was the case.
The humans were fighting along for the sake of unity.
That was the only reason for her to justify Blaze being the hero.
Honestly, if he heard what was going on in her deluded brain, Blaze would die laughing.
Just then, another ship hovered over the spot Blaze had disappeared into and shot another array of laser attacks.
To Lian’s absolute shock, the zombies around her gave up on fighting her. Instead, they turned and rushed towards Blaze.
"What is going on?"
***
A few minutes ago...
Blaze looked up, and the corners of his mouth twitched. The fleets were engaging one another, but even so, three flagships had broken through the makeshift barricade and were hovering above him.
From the angle, he could see them charging their cannons.
I don’t think I can tank a single shot, let alone three of them at once!
The corpse pit and separators were working overtime, and they were his only hope.
With a swing of his hands, Blaze buried himself under corpse walls and bone spikes. Everything at his disposal was being used to protect him.
All of you, get here!
Upon receiving the command, the zombies dropped everything and began piling on top of the walls Blaze created. Only then did everyone understand what was happening.
Blaze was planning to sacrifice the zombies to protect himself!
Thousands of zombies piled on him, encasing Blaze in a literal meat shield. It was the ultimate showdown of advanced technology and primitive savageness.
The three cannons fired. The smell of burning flesh immediately covered the lair. The laser tore through the zombies like a blade through butter. Blaze couldn’t see what was happening outside, but he felt the heat slowly getting to him.
In that moment, he could only curl up like a ball, hoping the damage to his body wouldn’t be severe. After all, he was immortal, but any damage to his body would take time to recover.
The zombies and the walls melted into a slurry, burning everything in their path as they burned through the mountain of corpses.
A few seconds later, the cannons flickered before stopping. Only a deep, scorching pit of slurry was left behind at the spot where thousands of zombies had gathered.
Marrow’s eyes widened as she rushed towards the pit, only to be held back by Chimera. Even Neha was too shocked to move or comment. Lian stood still, wondering what had just happened.
Smaller ships shot out of the flagships and headed straight towards the crater. Perhaps they wanted to collect any samples they could, or it was to declare victory, didn’t matter.
But as they did... a bony arm shot out of the slurry. In the next second, the slurry itself shot up like spikes, piercing the incoming ships.
As for their target...
Half of his body had been reduced to bones, but he was still standing undefeated.
"You want to kill me?" Blaze snarled, smoke rising from his body. "Then bring a dozen more cannons!"
