Chapter 35: Maniac
CHAPTER 35: CHAPTER 35: MANIAC
Su Changxing heard these words and couldn’t help but frown. Was he worth only a little food?
This was infuriating. As a dangerous individual, he was worth at least ten, no, twenty cans.
He felt the footsteps leaving the room downstairs, and a slight smile appeared on his lips, gentle and refined, exuding the air of a scholar.
Sun Baisheng’s eyes suddenly widened as he saw a youth with a Steel Saber appear behind Liu Zhonggang, making a motion to swing the blade.
Liu Zhonggang sensed something too and turned around, only to see a flash of cold light. He wanted to raise his weapon to resist, but it was too late.
His skull was shattered, and warm blood splattered all over Sun Baisheng’s face. He was utterly terrified, watching the youth with a slight smile approach him step by step.
The light footsteps echoed in the room, heart-stirring.
This was definitely a Demon, a killer.
The youth showed no extra emotional fluctuation, cold and decisive, like a killer numbed by murdering.
This surpassed Sun Baisheng’s expectations. If he had known Su Changxing was so strong and could kill without batting an eye, he would surely not have brought people here.
Meanwhile, he heard terrified shouts from outside the door, and the others saw the scene and rushed to escape from the building, as if they had seen something terrifying.
Su Changxing dragged the blood-stained Steel Saber, walking step by step towards Sun Baisheng, saying calmly:
"Though you didn’t kill him, he died because of you. I think you’re probably guilty, don’t you think?"
Usually articulate, Sun Baisheng was at a loss for words, frightened and trembling, stammering, "I... I..."
"Please show mercy and spare me. I was forced by this thug; if I didn’t speak, he would kill me."
Sun Baisheng fell to his knees with a thud, begging for mercy, tears streaming down, looking very aggrieved and helpless.
"Thunk~"
"He died because of you, so to avenge him, you must die too."
Su Changxing reversed the blade and stabbed it into his chest without hesitation. He had already sentenced this person to death before; others could live, but he must die.
Sun Baisheng’s eyes flashed with hatred as he fell to the ground, dead abruptly, his left hand spread out, holding a slender shard of glass.
"Not bad, quite tenacious, still thinking of counterattacking at the last moment, but alas, the gap in our strength is too great."
Su Changxing glanced at the shard of glass and said calmly, picking up their phones for Plunder.
[Plunder Eliminated: gained 290 Points]
[Plunder Eliminated: gained 320 Points]
"Sun Baisheng actually had 290 Points, probably plundered from others."
He judged, and saw four people escaping downstairs through the window.
"They truly are a ragtag bunch, but it’s not surprising; after all, a hastily formed small group can’t be united much, it’s good enough they aren’t fighting among themselves."
Su Changxing leaned on the Steel Saber by the window, gazing at the two corpses on the ground, taking a long time to calm down completely.
He killed again.
These past two days his Spirit had been completely tense, in a state of stress, responding to even slight stimuli with violence.
Perhaps these people didn’t actually pose any threat to him, and he might’ve spared them given his usual personality.
"The idea was correct, just unfortunate to have picked the wrong person."
Su Changxing didn’t think this way of doing things was right or wrong, it was a struggle for survival; if he were in the same circumstances, he might make a similar choice.
But the target couldn’t be him.
Su Changxing cleaned some blood off himself but still felt drenched in a bloody scent, somewhat helpless, thinking of preparing more clothes at the Mysterious Shop next time.
Without lingering, he left; this place was exposed and unsafe now, no intention to return, as all his belongings were on him.
Su Changxing searched along the street for bookstores, after ten minutes’ walk, he saw one with pages scattered at the entrance, its red sign’s letters indistinguishable.
The bookstore was in disarray; he saw an adult magazine on the floor as soon as he approached, many books had been taken, surprisingly.
"So, after the blackout, reading became the biggest entertainment?"
He had an idea why so many books were taken from the bookstore, cleared out two Zombies inside, and explored but found no map.
"Already taken by others? Or the bookstore didn’t sell maps."
Su Changxing pondered; without a map, finding the Shield Company’s division would be very difficult, a matter of luck if found directly, otherwise possibly going in circles.
So he must find a map.
Su Changxing continued along the street: running, looking for another bookstore, a string of Zombies trailing, covering a great distance, frequently seeing others from afar.
But they merely glanced from afar and ran off.
This puzzled him; meant to ask about bookstores nearby, but realized by noon his appearance was the issue, covered in red blood, holding a Steel Saber—anyone who saw him would flee.
Zhu Wenwu sprinted down the street, relieved to see no one behind, smiling, pulling out his phone to post a message.
Xiaoxin: All units alert, Yong’an Street, suspected killer, wielding a Steel Saber, run if you see him.

Showing Su Changxing in crimson, walking down the street with a Steel Saber, his features unclear.
The post wasn’t trending but had decent traffic and numerous replies below.
Reply 1: Thanks bro for the heads-up, if I see him I’ll definitely run immediately.
Reply 2: Oh my goodness, this guy looks like a great Demon with countless murders, covered in blood.
Reply 3: Mom, I want to go home—there’s not just Zombies, but a bunch of crazies here!
······
Su Changxing looked at the post, feeling a bit toothache, guessing the person earlier posted it, contemplating whether to rush over and make him delete it.
"Righteous as I."
Zhu Wenwu saw the many comments under the post, filled with a sense of accomplishment, feeling he’d done a tremendous good deed, possibly saving someone from being targeted by a killer.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind, turning to see the killer dragging a Steel Saber, charging at him, looking ready to kill.
"Oh my, wasn’t it agreed not to chase?"
Zhu Wenwu bolted ahead in despair, sensing the killer’s Speed far greater than his.
Now it was a race for survival; he prepared to accelerate again, but a strong hand grabbed his shoulder.
