CHAPTER 75: CHAPTER 75: SUICIDE TRUCK

Su Changxing glanced at the dented iron gate and said, "This should have been hit by some great force. The marks are very old, it’s been quite a while."

Huang Biao speculated, "Could it be the Screamer? But given the size of the Screamer, it shouldn’t be able to get through this entrance."

Screamer?

Su Changxing remembered the scenes from the previous times he’d been chased by the Screamer. That thing seemed particularly fixated on him, always locking onto him without letting go.

Passing through the entrance, small vines appeared on the surrounding walls, extending toward the other end of the tunnel, resembling plants like climbing ivy.

"I didn’t expect there to really be vegetation. I was wondering why the oxygen levels were so high, but don’t these plants need photosynthesis?"

Zhu Wenwu stepped forward to examine the plants, his curiosity piqued: "These plants’ leaves are actually double-layered, similar to ellipsoids, and their veins are blood red."

Huang Biao said nonchalantly, "The world has become like this, so it’s normal for strange plants to appear."

"Thud thud~

A sound similar to a drum beat echoed faintly in the ears, barely audible.

Su Changxing held his breath, focusing intently, and asked, "Did any of you hear a sound?"

Huang Biao, feeling the silence around him, asked in confusion, "What sound?"

Zhu Wenwu shivered slightly. He hadn’t heard it either but didn’t think Su Changxing was mistaken, and said in a low voice, "Could it be something strange?"

"It’s nothing, let’s keep going."

Su Changxing took the lead with a torch in hand, and as they moved forward, the vegetation became denser, the drum sound became more pronounced, and the water level underfoot kept rising.

After walking a bit further, Huang Biao, who was ahead, suddenly stopped and turned back, saying, "I hear it too, like drumming, coming from very far away."

Zhu Wenwu said gravely, "I hear it too."

The drumbeats carried rhythm, hidden with melody.

The surroundings trembled with the drumbeat.

The three fell into silence, as it was evident that something unknown might be ahead, raising the question of whether to proceed forward or retreat.

Su Changxing hesitated as he had many times since they entered, aware that he might be risking his life and that it was dangerous.

Still, he gritted his teeth and said, "Let’s keep going; we’ve already come halfway. Let’s check it out, and if it’s really not feasible, we can leave."

Huang Biao and Zhu Wenwu nodded and followed Su Changxing onward. Since they decided to come, they were determined.

A few minutes later, the sound of rustling water came from ahead, like something sliding through the water.

The three instantly became alert.

Su Changxing took out the Shadow Bow from his back, drew the bow with an arrow aimed at the front, and saw three or four dog-sized shadows sliding toward them.

The arrow shot out, pinning one of the shadows to the ground, accompanied by an unknown milky white liquid splattering out.

The shadows struggled silently under the arrow, seemingly lacking any vocal systems.

The other shadows accelerated toward them and came into Su Changxing’s line of sight: whole-body milky white worms with triangular mouthparts on their heads, without eyes.

Su Changxing immediately shot a second arrow, pinning another worm to the ground.

Due to Su Changxing’s arrow shooting, he attracted all the enmity, and at the same time, the other two worms leaped high, swiftly pouncing towards Su Changxing.

Su Changxing sidestepped to dodge the worms’ attack, slicing through one with his sword, cutting it neatly in half, the milky white liquid erupting on the blade.

He dodged sideways again to avoid the mysterious liquid.

The liquid began to sizzle as it hit the water.

The worm, although cut in half, kept struggling on the ground, but completely lost its ability to attack.

Su Changxing delivered a backhand slash to its head to finally end it.

Meanwhile, Huang Biao rushed up and took the opportunity to cut down the other worm.

Huang Biao relaxed and cursed, "Damn, I thought it was something big. Turns out it’s just a bigger worm."

Saying this, he kicked the worm, getting some of the milky white liquid on his shoe.

Immediately, his leather shoe began to smoke.

"What the hell? Strong acid?"

Huang Biao quickly pulled back his foot and rinsed it in the water, seeing a not-too-small hole appear on his shoe, he lamented, "Great, now I’ve lost a shoe too."

Zhu Wenwu reminded, "Be careful not to get that stuff on your face. If this strong acid gets in your eyes or mouth, the consequences would be unimaginable."

Su Changxing pulled out his phone, which displayed a kill notification.

[Killed a Corpse-Devouring White Worm, gained 20 points]

"I didn’t expect these things to be worth ten points more than zombies."

Su Changxing went to finish off the other two worms still struggling under the arrows.

After encountering these worms, the three seemed to relax a little, as these worms seemed relatively manageable for now.

The three continued down the passage, and after a short distance, another five worms charged out of the darkness.

Su Changxing shot dead two worms with his bow and arrow, after which the other three worms leapt at him in unison.

Su Changxing sidestepped their attack, ready to swing his sword when suddenly one worm exploded, the milky white liquid falling like rain in mid-air.

He reacted quickly, pulling up his black coat to block most of the liquid, though some still splattered onto his hand, causing a burning pain.

Su Changxing swung his sword backhand, cleaving one worm in two, but another worm exploded simultaneously, causing another rain of white liquid to fall.

"Damn, they’re really just suicide trucks."

Su Changxing cursed as he dodged.

This area-of-effect spraying attack was almost impossible to completely avoid; he could only protect his face, while much of his black coat was corroded.

Zhu Wenwu and Huang Biao fared slightly better but still got some white liquid on them, burning small holes in their skin.

Su Changxing used a rag to wipe off the white liquid from his body and said, "This won’t work, Huang Biao, we have to use the old method."

"The old method?" Huang Biao froze for a moment, then realized and nodded, "Alright, I’ll act as bait to lure them, and you shoot them with arrows."

Su Changxing set up the bow from a distance as Huang Biao lured the creatures and Zhu Wenwu held the torch for lighting.

The worms’ territorial awareness was very strong; as soon as Huang Biao approached, four or five Corpse-Devouring White Worms jumped out, while Su Changxing began shooting.

With this strategy, Su Changxing could shoot two more arrows, so when the worms reached them, only one was left, which Huang Biao then quickly dispatched.

"Thud thud~"

After dealing with two more waves of worms, the drum sounds in the air became clearer and more unsettling.

Zhu Wenwu looked around and said, "We’re very close to Shield Company, it’s just up ahead."

The three turned a corner into a long, straight passage, and at the end, Su Changxing saw a gigantic figure lying across it.

A huge baby.

Why is there a baby this big?
