CHAPTER 75: CHAPTER 74: PROPOSAL

Zaen had barely dragged Ben inside when he felt a presence behind. A woman had swung her blade at him. He dropped Ben and raised the stick over his head, blocking the sharp blade as sparks flew around him.

Before he could relax, the woman kicked him in the midsection. Zaen jumped back, barely dodging the strike. That’s when he noticed the woman had a similar presence to that of Ben.

But that was all. Her body was much like an angelic swan with long legs and an athletic body, unlike Ben, who looked like a walking pig roast.

"What have you done to Ben?" the woman asked.

Usually, if anyone saw someone familiar in a suspicious state, they would naturally come to the said person’s defense. It was the same for Ben’s twin.

She just saw her brother hopelessly being dragged around and attacked Zaen, thinking he was the culprit. She was correct... somewhat, but Zaen wasn’t going to admit that.

Instead, he turned it around on the girl.

"Seriously? Have you lost your damn mind?" he asked, pointing at the girl with his stick. "Do you have a fetish for attaching handsome guys?"

At the mention of handsome guys, the girl leaned sideways, looking past Zaen.

"Handsome guys? Where are they?"

Zaen’s eyebrow twitched in sync with his lips. Sure, he wasn’t the most handsome guy that any girl would fall over, but for the girl to act so clueless... He knew the woman was messing with him.

He pointed at her with the stick again, but before he could say a word, the bird patted her lips with a finger as if trying to remember something.

"Grandpa said I must find a strong, handsome guy and bear him lots of children... I know you are strong. But I don’t know what handsome means,"

As she said that, her eyes sparkled, and she grabbed both of Zaen’s hands in hers.

"I’ll make you a deal," she continued. "If you can tell me what handsome means, I’ll let you go. If you help me find a handsome guy, then I’ll forget about this entire incident."

Zaen didn’t reply, his gaze merely shifted between Ben and his sister. One sibling was strong, but lacked the brains to articulate things properly. The other had a sharp tool for his mind, but was pathetically weak.

Maybe I should fuse them up somehow. Then, they’d be the perfect agent.

For the first time since meeting him, Zaen actually felt a bit of sympathy for the piggy. His sister was such an airhead, no wonder his grandfather had sent him together with her to find them a good grandson-in-law.

"I’ll help you," Zaen mumbled. "But first, help me carry your brother to our room."

"Oh, I see! You’re in a relationship with Benny! This sneaky rat found a husband before I could. You could have said so—"

"I’m his roommate..." Zaen sighed, shaking his head.

Suddenly, he felt like fighting anomalies was better than working alongside these weirdoes. He didn’t know that finding normal people in their field of work was just like finding friendly anomalies to work alongside.

Just then, Ben woke up. He noticed the girl and Zaen and hugged the girl’s leg.

"Sister Mimi, take me away from this demon!" Ben cried, with snot and tears running down his face. "Don’t be fooled by his handsome face! He’ll kill you the moment you cross—"

"Handsome? This guy is handsome?"

In his desperation, Ben forgot about Mimi’s trigger. He slapped his mouth shut, not wanting to trigger her even more, but it was too late.

Mimi Cho was already on her knees, presenting their family heirloom ring to Zaen.

"Mister Handsome, will you marry me?" she spoke as emotionlessly as ever.

Naturally, Zaen was about to reject her, but before he could, another voice interrupted them.

"Marry you? Why will my boyfriend marry you?" Hina said, tilting her head with a murderous glare towards Mimi. "Zaen... why is she proposing to you?"

"Hina?" Zaen asked before quickly rushing to Hina’s side. "Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you everywhere!"

"Have you?" she replied, not taking her eyes off Mimi. "That’s good... but why was she proposing to you?"

"I have no—" Zaen said, but was cut off.

"Because he is my destined one," Mimi interrupted, mimicking Hina’s cold tone. "What’s so difficult to understand? He’s handsome and strong. He fits the description my grandfather gave me."

Even though Mimi was holding her blade, Hina didn’t seem to register the danger she was in. That’s always how she became when it came to Zaen.

Wait... if Hina was infected with the Brood and the Brood Mother is dead, then why the heck does she still have her yandere mode on?

Zaen had assumed the strange change was due to the bug, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

Hina was already like this...? No, now’s not the time to think about it.

Before the ladies could clash, Zaen jumped between the two. He was holding Hina by the waist, hoping the touch would calm her down, while he just held his hand towards Mimi, not touching her, just in case it triggered Hina further.

"Hina, calm down. It’s not what it looks like," Zaen whispered urgently.

Her gaze didn’t budge from Mimi. If anything, it sharpened.

"That woman..." Hina muttered, voice soft but dangerous. "She thinks she can take you from me?"

"No one’s taking anyone. I literally don’t even know her."

"You do. I’m Mimi Cho, your future wife—"

"Argh!" Zaen yelled, cutting her off, but Hina had heard enough.

She was about to lunge at Mimi, but before she could, Zaen kissed her, as it was the only way he could calm things down and focus on fighting the masked crew.

Their lips parted, and it seemed Hina had calmed down a bit. Zaen let out a sigh of relief, but it got stuck in his throat when he felt something on his finger... left ring finger to be exact.
