"She might really be a doctor."

Jessica thought about herself - if she, as a soldier, could be sent here, a doctor being sent here didn't seem strange either.

"I never doubted her identity, and I really am a doctor, just not a doctor here."

Even though the other person was affected by medication, Lin Ye could still tell whether she was lying or not.

"Why exactly did they send us here? If they wanted to get rid of us, they wouldn't need to go through all this trouble."

Jessica felt somewhat agitated. She could sense there were major problems here, and she needed to do something, but she didn't know what to do.

"This place should be part of some kind of experiment."

The two types of capsules and the nurse's attitude were clear indicators. Lin Ye had conducted similar experiments before, though his test subjects were guinea pigs.

"Experiment? What's the purpose of the experiment? Researching how to turn people into mental patients?"

Jessica really disliked their current situation.

"Hard to say, but that possibility does exist. She saw someone we couldn't see. These two medications should have different effects - they're probably testing the drug efficacy."

Lin Ye unscrewed the two capsules. The blue capsule was filled with red powder, while the red capsule was filled with blue powder.

'What does this mean?'

A sudden possibility occurred to Lin Ye, and he urgently said to Jessica:

"Open your capsules and check the powder colors!"

Just as Lin Ye spoke, free activity time ended. Several orderlies began calling patients to leave the activity room.

Jessica quickly opened her capsules - both contained blue powder.

Lin Ye poured half of his red powder and gave it to Jessica, then said seriously to her:

"If you trust me, eat equal amounts of red and blue powder, whatever their effects might be."

As soon as Lin Ye finished speaking, an orderly struck his arm with a rubber baton. The blow was heavy, numbing his entire arm.

"Stop dawdling! Get the hell back to your rooms! One minute late and I'll beat you for an hour!"

The orderly glared fiercely at Lin Ye, his expression not that of an orderly but more like a vicious murderer.

Lin Ye didn't resist. He had been sickly since childhood and couldn't fight back against the orderlies. Resistance would only get him beaten by the surrounding orderlies.

Just as Jessica was about to take action, she found herself surrounded by orderlies. She could only temporarily shelve her idea of crippling that orderly.

Lin Ye was taken to his room. Though called a room, it was more like a solitary cell - only about ten square meters, no windows, and the door was locked from the outside by the orderly.

Below the door was a small square opening, too small for normal people to pass through, only capable of passing small items.

After a while, the orderly pushed a metal tray through the opening with Lin Ye's dinner on it - a hard bread and half a plate of disgusting gray-green viscous fluid.

'Is this food? It's too disgusting.'

The viscous fluid emitted a pungent odor. Lin Ye only ate the bread and lost his appetite.

Lin Ye took out the red capsule and dipped his finger in some blue powder, putting it in his mouth.

'Huh? Why don't I feel anything? Not enough dosage?'

Just as Lin Ye was about to increase the dosage, he suddenly noticed something wrong with the state of the viscous fluid on the tray.

'It solidified? How? It was just...'

Lin Ye suddenly realized he had already lost consciousness earlier, yet he hadn't felt anything.

'Wait, how long was I unconscious for?'

Thinking this, Lin Ye didn't hesitate at all and directly threw both capsules into his mouth.

But before swallowing the capsules, Lin Ye suddenly noticed the room door had opened. A misaligned, extremely irregular-looking hand grasped the doorframe.

By the time Lin Ye swallowed the capsules, the doorframe was already covered with such hands.

The drug effects were immediate. As soon as the capsules entered Lin Ye's stomach, all the hands on the doorframe disappeared, though the door remained open and didn't close.

Just as Lin Ye thought about getting up to close the door, this stable state was broken. A scorching burning sensation rapidly spread from his stomach throughout his entire body. His consciousness began to blur, but under the influence of the burning sensation, he didn't completely lose consciousness like before.

That burning sensation tore apart the world in Lin Ye's eyes. The entire world began to twist and deform, finally completely collapsing.

When the world completely collapsed, a new world reassembled in Lin Ye's eyes. Time became ambiguous - he didn't know how long had passed, but eventually everything stabilized again.

"You shouldn't have eaten so much blue powder. With slightly worse luck, you might not have been able to see me."

Lin Ye turned toward the source of the voice. There stood a black-haired, red-eyed young girl of exceptionally beautiful appearance.

"Is this what mental patients feel?"

Lin Ye stared at the girl. He hadn't expected that the hallucination produced by his mental abnormality would be a girl.

"I'm Little Ye, not your hallucination."

Little Ye sat on the bed, continuously watching Lin Ye.

"Alright, Little Ye, what do you want?"

Lin Ye decided to have an open and honest conversation with this Little Ye who claimed not to be a hallucination.

"I want you to survive. It's not easy, and I hope you can cooperate with me."

Little Ye said seriously.

"What should I do?"

Lin Ye also wanted to survive. Although he hadn't figured out the reason for Little Ye's appearance, at least their goals aligned for now.

"Simple - escape the mental hospital."

Little Ye pointed at the door behind Lin Ye.

"There are orderlies outside, and many access control doors. Before escaping, I need to make some preparations."

Lin Ye didn't think he could simply run out directly.

"You don't need to worry about orderlies and access control - we don't have those things here. It's just that there are many things here that are ten thousand times more troublesome than orderlies."

Little Ye gestured for Lin Ye to go take a look outside.

Lin Ye entered the corridor in confusion, only to find that the originally white corridor had transformed into a dark red space. Irregularly arranged dark red metal doors lined both sides of the corridor, with numerous flesh creatures of various shapes growing on the walls and floor. At regular intervals along the corridor were patches of dark red stagnant water.

"...What kind of hellish place is this?"

Lin Ye looked at Little Ye in disbelief, hoping this was all just a drug-induced hallucination.

"I don't know either. My memories aren't complete. I only know I need to get you out of here. You'd better mentally prepare yourself quickly - we don't have much time."

Little Ye said calmly.

"What do you mean we don't have much time? Can't I escape the mental hospital from the normal world?"

Lin Ye felt that would be easier.

"You know about drug resistance, right? The drug effects are limited. As the blue powder's effects wear off, those terrifying things will find and kill you. As for the normal world... how do you know which side is the normal world?"

Little Ye revealed a meaningful smile.
