God Ash: Remnants of the fallen.
Chapter 1147 1147: Sneak Attack.
Baldur's eyes were wide open as he fell from the skies.
In his chest was an enormous hole at least three inches wide. It went all the way from one end of his body to the other.
Blood spewed endless from his slightly parted lips as gravity pulled him back to the ground.
'How could...'
Indeed.
His indomitable body had been pierced right through. His attack had faltered.
His ideals and convictions had failed.
'How?'
That was indeed the question to ask.
How could his ideology fail?! It was impossible! It absolutely couldn't be.
And yet it was.
Standing in the sky above, wings flapping behind him, Cain placed a hand to his bloodied chest.
Blood streaked down the mangled wound he had suffered, but he was still standing.
And that was all that mattered.
Unlike Baldur, he had not taken the blow directly, instead using a portion of his energy to defend against it.
The results had been game changing. Not only had {Black Warrior} worked to bolster his base defensive stats, the defensive capabilities of his scales were much more than he had origin anticipated. He had expected to come out with way worse injuries.
'It doesn't matter now.'
His eyes gleamed with a sharp light.
He shot down towards Baldur's falling body.
Although his blow had been incredibly powerful and had dealt a lot of damage, unfortunately, it was not going to be enough to end the life of Baldur.
And if he left him alone for too long, the Stone Ox King would simply heal his injuries.
He absolutely couldn't let that happen.
Cain flapped his wings harder, letting his body fall even faster from the skies.
Seeing this, Baldur's greying eyes snapped open with vigor.
Still bleeding profusely, he let out a roar and swung his blade, releasing a maelstrom of energy that shot right at Cain.
With a growl, Cain slashed it in half, not slowing down at all.
Baldur brought his blade into a sideways guard, blocking Cain's blow as he crashed into him, sending them both barrelling into the ground with an incredible explosion of dirt and energy.
A huge shockwave spread out as a large crater was formed.
They were much further away from the main battlefield, as their dance in the sky had brought them away.
Pressed deep into the ground, Baldur get his bloodied teeth as he cursed,
"Damn you, Demon!"
Cain's eyes glowered with golden light. His muscles bulged as he expended even more energy, flapping his wings furiously as he pressed down harder and harder.
{Whitleheim} glowed again and a thick radiance surrounded Baldur.
With a furious roar, the energy exploded out, sending Cain flying back.
The Stone Ox King tried using that as his opportunity to regain his footing, but Cain was having none of that.
Without wasting a beat, he surged forward and smashed the flat of his blade against Baldur's face, breaking his nose and shattering his teeth.
Eyes wide from shock, Baldur was unable to react as the blade came crashing down again on his back.
He fell.
Eyes filled with a savage light, Cain threw {Eidwyrm} to the side.
His fists began to glow a deep crimson, like the color of blood.
Baldur's eyes widened in fear,
"W-wai—!"
BANG!
Without hesitation, Cain smashed his fist into his face.
The Stone Ox King's defensive ability was still in effect, so it wasn't supposed to hurt too much.
However, it did.
'How?! How is this happening?!'
Cain threw another blow, striking him viciously again.
His head snapping back, Baldur let his energy surge forward again.
It coated his body and released as a shockwave. However this time, it was unable to push the Demon before him back.
That was when he truly looked.
And what he saw made him lose control of his bowels in fear.
"N-no!"
BANG!
BANG!
BANG!
Hit after hit crashed into his skull. Over an doger again until all he could see, was darkness.
His fists reduced to torn flesh and broken bones, Cain kept smashing down, not caring at all for his well-being.
For some reason, his rage had taken control. It had welled up in him until the only thing he wanted to do was vent.
Blood pooled beneath Baldur's cracked skull as he kept punching even after he had clearly done him in.
It still wasn't enough.
His eyes flashed with something sinister as then crimson glow on his fists coated the viscous blood dripping off of it, making the scene appear even more violent and terrifying.
Cain threw down another blow, this one many times more devastating than the others. If this one was to hit, his fist would surely go right through his head.
Just then, Cain sensed something approaching incredibly fast.
His absent, dark eyes suddenly regained their light.
'Danger!'
His fist flew., smashing a projectile that had been aimed for his heart.
Cain jumped back as a dozen more flew at him. Snatching {Eidwyrm} from the ground, his blade was lIfe a leaf riding the wind as it knocked the projectiles out of the air.
However, the projectilws didn't collapse harmless to the ground after he knocked them down. Instead, tehye some and continued circling around him, waiting for a chance to strike again.
Cain's eyes widened.
'What the hell is this?!'
And why did it look so similar to his {Fallen Stars of Orion}.
Suddenly, the danger he senses flared up.
And it was coming from his side.
He turned as fast as he could, but he was a few seconds too late.
A blade— a stunning silver blade with runic patterns of stars etched into it was embedded in his side.
Attached to its hilt was a hand.
And that hand trailed off to its owner.
A tall, handsome man with a cold expression and an even colder face.
Cain could immediately sense it— the boundless evil and terror within him.
The man twisted the blade, worsening the state of the wound he dealt.
With a grunt, Cain swung {Eidwyrm}, but he fucked under the wide swing, pulled his blade out and stabbed it at his throat. Cain's eyes went wide as he threw himself back before trying to stabilize his footing.
However, he was unable to do much, as the next second, a torrent of flying blade struck at him, running him through.
