CHAPTER 998: RELIC OF A GODDESS’S LOVE.

As he lay on the bed, completely naked, Cain wondered where things had went wrong.

He stifled the groan threatening to escape his lips to avoid waking the beauty sleeping on his arm.

He slightly tilted his head.

Susan’s sleeping face was truly angelic. Her luscious auburn hair, like the colors of autumn and early spring.

Her naked chest, slightly covered by the blanket they shared rose up and down periodically, proving she was in deep sleep.

They had gone at it all night, even though it was her first time.

A very pale light was already seeping into the room, proving that morning was well on its way.

Cain groaned inwardly again as he cursed at himself profusely.

’What happened?’ Certainly, it was not normal.

Although he knew of his desires, having them increase exponentially out of his control had caught him completely off guard.

His body froze up a bit as Susan wrapped her body even tighter around him. The soft suppleness made it difficult for him to concentrate, but his willpower eventually prevailed.

He wrapped a hand around her waist and pulled her in even closer, causing her lips to crease upward even in her sleep.

Meanwhile, Cain took another look at what he suspected to be the reason behind his current dilemma.

Just like Susan had said, after she had worn it, he could finally see the nature of the ceremonial hair comb;

{Courtesan’s Requiem}:

Description: Once upon a time, in the heavenly courts, there was a fine, fair goddess who was charmed by a certain wild beast. In order to capture his heart, the goddess commanded the court sorcerer to craft her a special charm. One that could forever capture the heart of her true love. One that would remain with her lover even after she had passed away.

{Courtesan’s Requiem}(Tier 3, Legendary):

Magic: 5000.

Perception: 10.5.

Control: 10.5

Skills: Touch of Enthrallment, Lover’s Requiem, Lake of Indulgence, Heart Eruption.

{Touch of Enthrallment}: With but a single touch the goddess captivated the beast, and together, they fell down the abyss of passion.

{Lover’s Requiem}: The charm contains a special spell that activated when the goddess died.

{Lake of Indulgence}: The deeper they sank into the abyss of passion, the greater their spirits grew.

{Heart Eruption: When their desire reached the climax, not even the heavens could restraint it. It rose beyond the clouds and then even beyond that.

Cain’s eyes twitched.

’This item... Isn’t it too dangerous?’

If he was to do a bit of thinking, it was very easy to see what the item was and the benefits it provided with its descriptions.

The story seemed like a rather touching one at first glance. However, Cain felt that the origins were not as wonderful as they seemed.

Why would this goddess need to charm her way into her lover’s heart?

Beyond that, the first skill, {Touch of Enthrallment}, was the reason he had been unable to resist her all night long.

’And because of that...’

It was a skill that created a chemical reaction for the desires they had tucked away to be ignited.

And the worst part? There was a chance there was nowhere to hide these desires again. The details of the {Lover’s Requiem} was still shrouded in mystery, but he had a solid idea of what the other two were.

The {Lake of Indulgence} was a terrifying increase in mana capacity, or Susan’s mana pool to be exact.

The ethereal aura that surrounded her was created by her mana rapidly increasing in such a short time. And from what he could tell, the rate of the growth was not going to go down any time soon.

Although the charm was troublesome, such a thing was simply too powerful.

And then the {Heart Eruption}.

From the details, je figured it wasore or less that allowed an exponential increase in magic power once certain conditions were fulfilled.

All in all, despite the danger, it was a good item, especially for someone that relied mostly on magic spells and magic powered skills like Susan.

He leaned back onto the bed and let out a sigh.

There was a serene calm that seemed to stretch on forever. He didn’t mind such atmosphere.

His body felt comfortable despite the strenuous activities of the night before. His spirit also felt rather invigorated.

It wasn’t bad at all.

He let the exhaustion creeping onto him win as he gently closed his eyes and fell into the comfort of slumber.

When he woke up, Cain felt that the weight nestled against him was gone.

He sat up and let out a sigh.

’I figured that would happen.’

Obviously, she would be too embarrassed to face him after what happened last night.

He ran his hand through his hair and ruffled it violently. Many thoughts ran through his mind. He would have preferred for things to stay the same with Susan, especially since they had a long, complicated history.

However, fate often had its own way of saying ’screw you’. In the end, he had ended up enthralled by the relic of a goddess’s love, completely consumed by the abyss of passion and heat.

Suddenly, he raised a brow and turned to the side.

There, much to his surprise, was a halo of light floating above a platter of food that was sat right on his desk.

Slowly, he stood up and glanced at it. The food still seemed hot.

He frowned, ’She made this.’

A warm feeling spread through his heart as he grabbed onto tray, dispelling the magic over it. The halo of light had kept the food warm and fresh, allowing him to savor its deliciousness in itself optimal state.

Without putting on any airs, he devoured all of it like a hungry beas whilst thinking he wouldn’t mind eating like this everyday for the rest of his life.

When such a thought entered his mind, he couldn’t help but grin like a madman.

’Ah. This feeling isn’t half bad at all.’
