CHAPTER 94: THE LONGING OF AN ANCIENT VAMPIRE

The Ancient Vampire frowned, confused.

How could anyone yearn for the greatness of Money? On the day Money rules over all, wouldn’t the world be very materialistic?

Wouldn’t the world become a worse place than it already is?

Isn’t that too... mundane a thought?

Too... hypocritical and selfish.

The vampire realized that this man was simply vulgar and materialistic because he was so sure of his answer.

He didn’t think about real greatness; he was simply a lover of money.

"You..." He frowned. "You are unworthy of magic," he said.

Louis smiled coldly.

"I’m not here to be worthy of it, but you’re not someone worthy of saying that."

"Heh." The vampire sneered and looked at the woman behind him. "What is your desire, little human?"

"..." She remained silent and raised her rifle. She clenched her teeth with determination and fired, aiming at the vampire’s head.

"As my friend said, you are not worthy of knowing."

The bullet flew through the air quickly and struck the head. A spirit then dispersed, and a new one entered his body.

He smiled.

"Tsk. Humans, always as impatient as I remember." He stood up and grabbed his book in his hand. "Even if you don’t want to hear it, let me tell you about the Era I long for."

Looking up, he gazed through a small window far away at the top of the room, the top of the castle.

"The Era before you humans had the ability to rule. One that has been lost in the annals of history and buried by traitors who believe themselves superior to other races." He looked down again, and his hollow eyes glowed.

"The Age of the Ancient Empire. Supreme Ruler of these Lands. The same one that will begin with the long-awaited reunion of the Keys of the Ancient Cube!"

A sinister smile spread across his face, and instantly, a powerful, unexpected attack rose from the ground, like fire magic exploding upward, right where Louis and Laura stood.

"Time to eat, my children!" shouted the Ancient Vampire, launching his attack.

On the other side of the pillar of fire, Louis ran at full speed to the right.

’I see. So those keys and the cube have symbolic meaning for these beasts. Not only for the Vampire, but also the blood mummies and bats seemed to attach great importance to them,’ he thought.

He couldn’t understand what this Ancient Empire was. But from the Vampire’s words, he had to assume it was an empire that existed a million years ago.

What he didn’t understand was, why wasn’t it being said, if these beasts had information about it?

Could it be that only the beasts of the Tower had that information? If that was the case, what was the secret behind the Tower?

He couldn’t help but remember that when a man, the father of the Habsburg family, reached the 90th floor or higher, he was killed. Perhaps it had something to do with it, or had it been a betrayal for personal gain?

’Maybe I should investigate more about what happened that night,’ he thought.

He was intrigued by these mysteries that had been haunting him lately.

His mind worked quickly and pointed at the boss as he ran. Then his shot echoed through the room, but when it hit, it only scattered one spirit, which quickly recovered from many spirits waiting to be this bastard’s shield.

"Tsk." Louis stopped dead in his tracks and aimed at someone heading toward the places where Laura was hiding.

BAM*

His bullet traveled at high speed and passed through two heads. They had no spirits, so both died instantly, their brains destroyed, and then both corpses burst into flames from the remnants of magic.

Meanwhile, two new vampires appeared from the side.

"You were careless, human!" roared the boss as he brought another pillar of fire out of the ground. Louis barely managed to dodge it, but the fire...

Made him frown.

"If you’re so powerful and want to revive a fallen empire, why do you rely on fire created by others to attack?"

Louis managed to dodge the attack from the two vampires and asked.

The boss sneered.

"Because you’re not worthy of my magic, and because I’m going to kill you using your own strength," he roared.

Louis sneered, stopped running, and immediately confronted the two small vampires approaching him, who had now transformed into five vampires. His body moved quickly between them, but he didn’t shoot them.

Instead, he attacked them with all his strength, aiming precisely at their heads.

Some heads were immediately shattered. Other vampires had their heads intact, but their necks were shattered, and there were two...

The force of the impact did not move them.

The last two.

"Spirits?" Louis thought as he dodged the counterattack he had received.

That’s when...

"Look, the damn bastard is here!"

"He’s the one who burned our comrades!"

"Attack them, kill him!"

A bunch of spirits came from behind, which made Louis frown.

"Not again..." He sighed helplessly, but took advantage of the moment when the spirits did not protect those two little vampires to strike them in the neck and kill them.

Then...

"Shit." He looked down and saw an explosion of flames erupting from below him.

At the same time, three more explosions erupted nearby, preventing him from escaping.

This fire didn’t really belong to the ancient vampire; it came from below. The vampire concentrated the fire that Louis had created on the lower floors into a single powerful attack and then, using some kind of gas, shot it upward.

If there is fuel in this place, there can naturally be gas.

The problem is that, being so, it came with residues of that powerful fuel.

The good thing...

It wasn’t as powerful as magic.

Louis escaped, albeit with burns, by jumping over the vampires.

Just then, while he was still in the air...

"NOW!" Laura shouted.

BAM*

A bullet flew from her rifle, heading for the ancient vampire’s head.

Louis didn’t even think about it. As soon as he heard her speak, he raised his gun and fired without aiming. Purely based on his senses.

The rifle bullet was naturally faster than his, but he was closer. Calculating the distances and speeds... his would hit first, taking out the spirit, and immediately after, Laura’s more powerful bullet would strike.

They hadn’t discussed it, but when they saw that the spirits in that bastard’s body were recovering quickly, they realized it was the best option.

So one ran to the front, as close as possible, and the other moved as far away as she could.
