CHAPTER 95: DANGER

In the blink of an eye, Louis’ bullet arrived milliseconds before Laura’s. The timing was so precise that the vampire couldn’t react.

One bullet struck him squarely and scattered his spirit; the other pierced his left eye.

The vampire felt the pain coursing through his body and staggered back slightly, letting out a loud cry of pain that was drowned out by the fury that took hold of his body.

"I’LL KILL YOU, BASTARDS!" he roared as he clenched his teeth to endure the pain.

Immediately...

His voice uttered words they did not understand, and the room seemed to fill with a strange recital of rhythms.

They differed from what they knew, mainly because they were in another language.

But then, the book in his hand opened, and he quickly flipped through the pages. The blood dripping from it rose with his movement, forming four balls of blood the size of a head.

"Die!"

At that moment, the eyes of all the vampires glowed terrifyingly, as if they had entered a state of absolute frenzy, and it was then that the spirits behind Louis arrived in the vicinity.

There were too many spirits; some entered the bodies of the vampires, others tormented them with words.

When Louis fell to the ground, he had to jump aside when he felt an attack coming from below him.

It wasn’t fire.

By a few centimeters, he managed to get out of the circle of attack, and a rush of blood emerged from the ground, creating a strange bloody column more than 40 centimeters thick and a small wall another 90 centimeters in front of him.

The vampires leaped through it and managed to strike Louis, who was on the other side, while the blood of the vampires he had killed suddenly created more pillars of blood.

Louis had to move between the attacks and endure several more, dodging those bloody attacks.

’Killing them will make that bastard use their blood against me... But not killing them will put obstacles in my way.’

It was a little stressful.

He considered finding a way to get close to the boss and attack him alone, but unfortunately, there wasn’t much room to move.

There were too many small vampires. While they didn’t have much power, they were the majority, and he wasn’t invincible.

If he attacked head-on and decided to take attacks from all those bastards, he would certainly die, no matter how high his defense was.

Defense is just a statistic that reduces the damage taken. It doesn’t completely mitigate it.

He looked at his health points and realized that it was dangerous even though they had only dropped by 250 points.

250 points without receiving direct attacks other than fire and little else was already a considerable amount.

He needed to get rid of the numbers and avoid blood magic attacks.

After dodging and attacking the nearest vampire head-on, he managed to put one foot on the ground. His fist dispersed the spirit inside him, and with his other hand, he fired.

The shot went through his head and continued toward his next target. Although the force of the shot had dissipated a little, it still managed to disperse the spirit in the vampire behind him, who was just coming out of the column of blood.

Louis moved swiftly to prevent a spirit from entering him and punched it in the neck. It flew backward, taking several other vampires with it, and they all hit the walls at the other end.

But then Louis felt an attack from behind. He turned quickly to defend himself, thinking it was a vampire, but that was not an ordinary attack.

It was blood magic.

"Inside my Bloody Castle, you humans are trash! Waves of Blood! Bloody Pillar!" roared the ancient vampire behind him.

These waves of blood were aimed at both of them and were what had hit Louis. Both pillars also rose where they stood.

Louis judged that he couldn’t avoid them, so he let himself be swept away by the waves of blood to avoid a direct attack from one of those bloody pillars.

Laura was forced to abandon her position and shoot at the vampires near Louis, as he was being dragged away and was in a defenseless position.

Her shot scattered the spirit in him, causing the force of the bullet to scatter as well.

As she ran and dodged the bloody attacks, trying to find the right position to attack, she slowly approached Louis to help him. After being dragged by that wave of blood, he was surrounded by several vampires and receiving almost all of the boss’s attention since blood magic could not be activated at such long distances so easily.

Laura managed to get close very quickly. Ignoring what the spirits were saying in her ears and taking advantage of a bloody attack, she got behind more than 15 vampires.

Then her rifle disappeared from her hand, replaced by a high-caliber shotgun.

She grabbed it with both hands, and a plea to the gods rose in her mind...

’Please... let it work. God of Thunder, Goddess of Birds...’ Then she fired without thinking.

VRUM*

A volley of shots came out of the shotgun’s muzzle, followed by a second.

The firing power was enough for the first volley to disperse numerous spirits, accomplishing its task perfectly.

The second volley of shots was intended to wound or kill them, and that task was accomplished. It didn’t kill anyone, but the bullets managed to penetrate the flesh.

Although they were launched with a single rune, and the fire they had was not so powerful, it was still enough to distract them.

Even so, it was a careless shot from a shotgun at close range. Although there were many vampires in front of her, all the bullets couldn’t be stopped by their bodies.

Some bullets crossed between the bodies, hitting unwanted places.

Like Louis’s right leg, piercing his calf, and his left arm, where he held the pistol.
