Chapter 373: Unearthing Wild Ginseng
CHAPTER 373: CHAPTER 373: UNEARTHING WILD GINSENG
Because the Crouching Tiger Mountain Range is an uncharted region, the maps here are not complete and some parts don’t even match.
Chen Guan didn’t encounter many Secret Spirits on his way, because humans might even outnumber them. In areas that have already been explored, it’s really hard to find a Secret Spirit to kill.
This made Chen Guan very grateful for being able to join the Celestial Court Army, otherwise, he would have had to fight for Secret Spirits like the regular Cultivators in the public Secret Realms.
Leveling up would take who knows how many years, it’s just too difficult.
When he got near the Crouching Tiger Mountain Range, there were noticeably fewer people. Once in the mountain range, practically no other Cultivators were in sight.
Chen Guan stealthily snuck into the Crouching Tiger Mountain Range, but the map was useless as many places were incorrect.
As Chen Guan explored a large mountain, he surprisingly stumbled upon an old ginseng.
"This is a seven-leaf old ginseng... a seven-hundred-year-old treasure..." Chen Guan reached out to dig it up.
He didn’t know any rules about digging for ginseng, so he just used his hands to dig it up.
A pure wild ginseng aged seven hundred years does have some use. In medicine-making, no matter how good, they wouldn’t put a whole old ginseng in one pill.
After digging it up, Chen Guan washed it and directly crunched it into his mouth, munching on it.
"No wonder it’s a wild old ginseng, it has a bit of a sweet aftertaste." Chen Guan wasn’t worried about over-replenishing his body and getting heatstroke; he could supplement his body in any way without issue.
As he ate and continued searching, Chen Guan didn’t walk far before finding another old ginseng.
"When luck strikes, nothing can stop it." Ecstatic, Chen Guan kept eating and digging. In one area, he unearthed over ten ginsengs aged hundreds of years in no time.
"This is indeed why uncharted regions are the best. With just a bit of casual digging, you find good stuff." Chen Guan thought to himself with delight as he gnawed on the ginseng, thinking that at this rate, he wouldn’t need to spend money buying any.
"You little thief... daring to steal my ginseng... leave your life here..." Chen Guan was engrossed in digging when suddenly he heard an angry shout from the mountain.
Then he saw a figure, as fast as lightning, flying down the mountain and quickly approaching his location.
Chen Guan saw that the person was an elderly man with white hair and a beard, he looked like an immortal with a ruddy and healthy glow.
"Whoa... could this be the legendary spirit ginseng grandpa? I’m in for a great fortune..." Chen Guan was overjoyed, ready to capture this ginseng grandpa, but he saw the old man summon a striped tiger pet, lunging at him.
Chen Guan was suddenly taken aback, realizing for the first time that the old man was a human Cultivator, not a ginseng spirit turned into human form.
"Such an old age, yet still adventuring in the Blessed Secret Realm?" Chen Guan thought to himself.
In the Blessed Secret Realm, there are many elderly Cultivators, but most of them choose to lie low or simply lacked the Talent to advance to the Grotto Heaven Level.
It’s quite rare for someone so old to still be adventuring without advancing to Grotto Heaven.
"Old man, it’s a misunderstanding; I thought this was an unowned place..." Chen Guan wanted to explain, but the tiger had already pounced over.
"Roar!" Chen Guan opened his mouth and let out a tiger’s roar.
The rapidly attacking tiger was directly stunned and stopped its charge, dizzied momentarily, standing blankly in front of Chen Guan.
Seeing how effective his Fierce Tiger Roar on the Hill was, Chen Guan was delighted.
"Old man, it really is a misunderstanding. I didn’t know this mountain was owned. All the ginseng I dug up is here, I can give it back to you." Chen Guan quickly explained again to the old man.
The old man, slightly startled by Chen Guan’s tiger roar, looked at him with some surprise and said, "You trespass on my mountain and dug my ginseng, and that’s it?"
"Then what do you suggest? Or I could compensate you, just name a price." Chen Guan said.
"What was that roar you just did? What Secret Skill is it?" the old man asked.
"Fierce Tiger Roar on the Hill." Chen Guan replied.
"Not bad, where did you get it?" the old man asked again.
"I really don’t know much about it; I got it after ranking on the Tiger List." Chen Guan answered honestly.
"The Tiger List of Dragon Tiger Mountain?" The old man’s expression relaxed a bit, looking at Chen Guan, said, "Seeing as it was unintentional, I won’t make things difficult for you. I have here three Fighting Skills; if you can break through them, we can talk about compensation."
"Okay." Chen Guan nodded in agreement, relieved at not needing to fight.
It wasn’t that he feared fighting, but that he found it unnecessary.
The old man noticed Chen Guan’s rather nonchalant demeanor and secretly sneered: "Does this kid think my Tiger-Tiger Wind Generating Fist is that easy to break? How naive. But it’s fine, let’s see how talented he is. If he has decent aptitude, combined with his Tiger Roar Secret Skill, I might take him as a disciple, passing on my Tiger-Tiger Wind Generating Fist and making a small contribution to the Tiger Sect’s legacy."
"But this kid not recognizing me, Hu Sanqian, is seriously a bit dumb, maybe he’s not too bright?" the old man thought, then said to Chen Guan: "Boy, watch closely, my first move is called Tiger Head and Tiger Brain, see if you can break it."
Saying this, the old man leapt up, in an instant appearing like a fierce tiger, his presence completely transformed.
Chen Guan watched, internally amazed: "This old man’s presence is quite formidable, though the technique name is a bit strange, the technique itself is extremely powerful and domineering."
Initially, Chen Guan thought it looked simple and easy to break.
But upon closer thought, he found that this Tiger Head and Tiger Brain move was not as simple as it seemed.
This move seemed to have reached a state of simplifying the complex; clearly a simple move, yet trying various Techniques, Chen Guan found it very hard to break.
The strangest part of this move was that though it seemed like the hands were attacking, the true killer move was the head.
If you defended against the hands, he would ram you, or even bite your neck.
If you defended against the head, his hands would seize the opportunity to strike you. At equal levels, it is indeed difficult to break unless Chen Guan used his own head to face it directly.
"Well, can you break my Tiger Head and Tiger Brain?" Hu Sanqian asked.
"The old man’s Techniques are indeed formidable, please let me think a bit more." Chen Guan hadn’t used Fighting Skills in ages; he relied on skills, finding no need to compare in this aspect, making him struggle to break it initially.
"Take your time." Hu Sanqian was surprisingly patient, not rushing him.
"Got it." A light bulb went off in Chen Guan’s mind.
"You figured out how to break my move this quickly?" Hu Sanqian was slightly surprised; Chen Guan’s speed in figuring it out was quite fast.
"Old man, your Tiger Head and Tiger Brain move is indeed awesome, a technique that’s fierce and unique, making it hard to defend against. If I used other techniques to break it, it’d certainly be very challenging, but I can return your own way against you, using your own Tiger Head and Tiger Brain to break it." Chen Guan said.
