God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World
Chapter 25: True Believer
CHAPTER 25: TRUE BELIEVER
Betty looked at Ren with some surprise: "You already have your own fanatic this quickly?!"
"A fanatic devoted exclusively to the God of Technology?" Ren was clearly stunned.
"Yes, a fanatic devoted exclusively to the divine name of God of Technology. Usually casual believers’ prayers get split fifty-fifty between you and the Goddess. 200 times is exactly 100 regular casual believers’ prayers—that’s the standard amount for a fanatic." Betty’s eyes were full of astonishment: "What did you do?"
"What could I do?" Ren shrugged: "Can we locate this believer? I’m curious what happened too. It can’t be that someone was just amazed by magic bombs and became my fanatic, right?"
"That’s not impossible—after all, this is a completely new type of magical device, isn’t it? As for locating them, you need to ask." Betty poked Ren’s chest with her finger: "Use your heart to feel it, let your thoughts follow that faith power to explore everything..."
Heart?!
I’d need to have one first!
Right now Ren was just a soul.
A fragile soul!
Every time he thought about this, he urgently wanted to collect faith quickly and escape this current state.
Existing as a holy spirit, he really had zero sense of security.
Especially with the divine realm’s condition still not that stable.
Sighing, Ren quickly adjusted his mindset.
According to Betty’s instructions, using faith power as a channel to explore everything... This wasn’t easy to understand, but the moment his consciousness touched that stream of faith power, everything before him began to blur. When he regained clarity, he was no longer in the divine realm...
Everything that happened in Roster territory appeared before him. He even felt like he could manipulate the river of time to see what exactly had occurred in Roster territory!
"Really amazing!"
A moment later, Ren’s voice sounded again, "Holy crap! Why are you two so close to me?!"
Opening his eyes, Ren was instantly startled by the scene before him.
Betty and the book had somehow gotten right in front of him, at most thirty to fifty centimeters away.
"Don’t worry about these details." Betty waved her hand: "You just said something was amazing?! What happened? Do you know how you got that fanatic?"
Ren calmed his emotions and spoke unhurriedly, "In the Kingdom of Dawn, there’s a viscount territory called Roster. The lord freed all his serfs and slaves into free citizens, allocated land to them, trained them as craftsmen, then concentrated on mass-producing handicrafts. This touched on the interests of several surrounding nobles..."
Listening to Ren’s detailed account, Betty looked at him with some surprise: "You’re saying he used magic bombs to kill large numbers of invading enemies and supernatural beings, then became your fanatic after the war ended?"
"Seems that way." Ren nodded: "He probably figured out that magic bombs, this special product, came from the God of Technology rather than the Goddess of Magic."
"No, that’s not the key point. What I want to say is that magic bombs’ usage scenarios seem to far exceed my expectations, and their impact on mortals might become much more profound."
The surprise on Betty’s face didn’t diminish at all—it even kept increasing. This reaction left both Ren and the book somewhat puzzled.
"That Viscount Roster had almost no magicians under him, yet in this war, he seemed to have endless magicians. Various spells were like Gray Fort Empire’s Magician Legions launching attacks—unstoppable. Even equal numbers of magicians couldn’t cause such destruction... Plus, those mortals who witnessed this—might they be shocked by magic’s power? Could they become believers of the Goddess of Magic?"
"If similar wars keep increasing, the Goddess’s believers—and of course, your believers as God of Technology—will start growing on a large scale, even potentially replacing faiths like God of War and God of Blood to some extent."
Betty’s explanation made both Ren and the book suddenly understand.
Getting mortals to develop faith was often easiest in situations like this.
"Looks like developing magic bombs really was a good idea." Ren smiled with a relaxed tone: "Speaking of which, I have another idea. How about we research whether it’s feasible?"
"What idea? Lord Ren, I really don’t know how your brain works—you can think of so many wonderful concepts, one after another. It’s truly amazing. As the Goddess’s steward, I possess endless knowledge..."
"Go quickly develop the magic encyclopedia I asked for! Tomorrow’s the deadline we agreed on!" Ren directly interrupted the book’s words, then turned his gaze to Betty: "Doll, how about we send this guy to solitary confinement? When he finishes developing the new feature, then we let him out."
"No! You can’t..."
Before the book could finish, his voice could no longer be heard.
Though Betty wasn’t heartless enough to actually put the guy in solitary confinement, she did restrict his voice.
"What idea did you mention?" After this time together, she’d become completely convinced that Ren was very smart and always broke free from conventional knowledge limitations to propose many good suggestions.
"Magic bombs are indeed powerful, but haven’t you noticed their accuracy isn’t that high? If we could develop a device specifically for triggering spells like searing rays and corrosive light, wouldn’t that make better weapons?"
Firearms were obviously more suitable for many scenarios than grenades.
If they could develop magic firearms...
After Ren’s simple description, Betty quickly shifted from serious to shocked.
Once again, she had the urge to crack open Ren’s skull to see what was inside.
Especially this time compared to the magic bombs, Ren had actually described what runes could be used for development. Though not comprehensive, compared to before, this was rapid progress...
Betty even felt that without her help, Ren would soon be able to develop these ’ray guns’ himself. This feeling caused a slight anomaly in her mental core.
Post-war statistics in Roster territory concluded.
They found no insignia on these attackers, couldn’t even find anything to prove their identities.
"Knights, this isn’t your fault. Under magic bomb bombardment, such situations are inevitable. You all go rest!"
Viscount Roster waved his hand, as if this hadn’t exceeded his expectations.
After all the knights left, Viscount Roster’s wife finally couldn’t help speaking: "Magic bombs actually have such power?!"
Zero casualties while repelling all enemies—this was... unimaginable.
Truly an unimaginable war!
She didn’t even know whether to use the word ’war’ to describe what had just happened.
This was simply one-sided slaughter.
"Yes! Our God’s ingenuity is unimaginable—weapons that only need a wisp of magic to activate are truly terrifying." Roster couldn’t help sighing: "They’re just a bit expensive. If only we could produce them ourselves!"
"Our God?! Darling, you’re planning to convert?!" Roster’s wife’s eyes were full of astonishment. Her husband, who never respected gods or spirits, would suddenly choose to convert...
