Chapter 125: Destructive Golden Spear!
CHAPTER 125: DESTRUCTIVE GOLDEN SPEAR!
A few hours later, in another battlefield—
Just when the dust began to settle across the field, the clouds overhead rumbled unnaturally.
Rumble! Rumble!
A golden light pierced the sky, followed by a deafening silence—as if the world itself was holding its breath.
Doodle’s eyes widened. "This phenomenon! I read about it! Don’t tell me..."
Noel blinked. "What... is that?"
Back at the live broadcast studio, Doodle’s jaw slackened.
"It... It seems they’re finally making a move? This competition is about to get even tougher now."
The screen flickered from Liang and now showed a tall man suspended mid-air, looking at the battlefield with a bored expression.
Beside him was a beautiful woman, her hair tied back with a golden hairband and her body adorned with jewels.
Jack Arefield of the Olympus Guild casually stretched out his hand as a golden spear flew from the corpse of a giant ogre, returning to his grasp.
He then turned his attention to another area populated with at least a hundred ogre-type beasts.
"It seems the predominant species in this wave is ogre monsters," Aria said.
"That seems to be the case," Jack replied and launched his spear at the horde of ogres. "The others also reported the same thing."
Aria didn’t respond, her gaze fixed on the spear, which cut through the air, crackling with unstable mana and thunder.
The spear, like that of a vengeful god, descended into the midst of the ogres with monstrous precision.
Sensing the intense heat, the ogres quickly looked in the direction of the attack, the golden spear reflected in their eyes.
BOOM!
The golden spear struck the ground and an explosion occurred on impact. The earth caved in, and a blinding golden flash detonated.
The ogres that attempted to flee were all caught in the shockwave and died instantly.
Jack’s eyes remained neutral, and Aria didn’t seem impressed at all.
Over a hundred ogres were killed in one attack, yet neither of them looked pleased or satisfied.
With a subtle frown, Jack said, "However, they’re too weak."
He glanced at the leaderboard and saw that Olympus Guild had overtaken Martial Palace.
1. Olympus Guild – 210 pts
2. Martial Palace – 159 pts
3. Adventurer Guild – 120 pts
4. Holy Church – 110 pts
5. Crimson Star – 100 pts
Hearing his words—so detached despite the overwhelming strength he displayed—everyone watching the broadcast was stunned!
"Dammit, so that’s why they’re called the oldest and strongest guild. Only the vice leader is capable of such destructive skills. Now imagine the leader, Ares Dunhold, himself!"
"No cap! I’m a big fan of Broken, but if he goes against this guy? He’s done for!"
"Aye, please don’t set my boy up like that! Don’t you dare compare them!"
"He overtook Martial Palace with one move and still called the monsters weak. Such monsters!"
"Wild theory: what if a rift opens and all these NPCs come to our world? What do you think would happen?"
"NGL, the only thing that can stop these guys are actual nukes!"
"No wonder they didn’t recruit players. They’re more than enough to handle themselves."
---
In the studio...
Doodle’s face was pale.
"Doodle, why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost?" Noel smirked. "Still confident the Adventurer Guild will win?"
Doodle hesitated, then said confidently, "I’m confident!"
"If delusion was a person..." Noel shook her head.
Olympus Guild had suddenly taken the lead once more, causing quite the ripple across the game world.
Players were shocked at the sudden gap!
One moment, Martial Palace was confidently in the lead—and then, all of a sudden—
"Dang, this could only mean they wiped out at least a hundred monsters at once!"
"It’s definitely a combined effort!"
Most players were in the wilderness, far from viewing centers, so they could only speculate amongst themselves.
However, updates soon flooded the forums from players who had already died and were browsing while waiting for their respawn timer.
When they found out that a single person was responsible for the massive shift in ranking, they were beyond shocked.
Liang saw the updated leaderboard and nearly coughed up blood.
Evelyn’s lips also tightened into a firm frown.
"Dang... it wasn’t even ten minutes," Liang mumbled to himself, speechless.
"Who do you think is responsible?"
"Definitely Jack or Aria. One of those two," Liang sighed. "I knew from the beginning that they’d be troublesome."
"Let’s not forget Alfonzo," Evelyn said. "That old crook is probably plotting something behind the scenes."
"Come on, let’s go hunt more monsters. The Adventurer Guild is catching up." Liang turned and charged back into the battlefield.
---
"Jack..." Scarlett whispered, her eyes flashing as she saw the massive change on the leaderboard.
All around her were monster corpses, and her teammates were scouring the area for cores and loot.
Back inside the truck, Gabriel stared blankly at the rankings. He had expected Martial Palace to hold the lead for a while.
Who would have thought Olympus would take the lead so easily—and in just a few minutes?
Seeing the gap between the Adventurer Guild and the top two, with the Holy Church following closely behind, Gabriel didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Right at that moment, the leaderboard changed again:
1. Olympus Guild – 210 pts
2. Martial Palace – 159 pts
3. Holy Church – 138 pts
4. Adventurer Guild – 125 pts
"Fourth?" Bunny muttered in disbelief. "We were just third a few minutes ago..."
Suddenly, the driver called out, "We’re approaching a lake. Several high-level giant crocs spotted! Prepare for battle!"
---
Meanwhile, at the Holy Church.
After seeing the massive jump in rankings, the players were shocked—but Alfonzo wasn’t. In fact, he had expected it.
He stared at the ranking for a moment, then muttered under his breath with a mischievous smile.
"Good thing I still have Project Apostate with me. If not, the Holy Church would’ve lost this year," he smirked behind his mask. "It seems His Holiness already foresaw this happening and provided a solution as always."
