God-Tier Extraction Talent: Reincarnated in a Game-like World!
Chapter 134: Assassination [1]
CHAPTER 134: ASSASSINATION [1]
Between the two boss-type monsters, the one Gabriel was most excited to extract was, without a doubt, the Lake Serpent King.
The reason? It was rather simple. Stronger monsters often rewarded more than weaker beasts.
Though they were equally expensive to extract, if it were left to him alone, he would pick a stronger monster over a weaker one any day.
Gabriel’s lips parted as he proceeded to speak. "Extra—"
However, he wasn’t able to finish his words as he noticed several shadows through his tent.
A frown appeared on his face, and he swiftly got to his feet.
"Are you sure this is the tent?"
"Yes, I’m very certain. We just need to sneak in there and get rid of him."
Two figures whispered cautiously among themselves. They retrieved a strange item and crushed it. Suddenly, the two vanished.
Inside the tent, Gabriel had clearly seen this. However, he remained calm—though a hint of alertness flashed through his electric blue eyes.
’That... was that teleportation magic or invisibility?’ His eyes narrowed. He was quite unsure of what the figures had done, but one thing was certain—they didn’t have good intentions.
Without hesitation, Gabriel assigned all of his 20 stat points into Perception, and his vision improved.
Still, he wasn’t able to completely see the figure. The best he could do was sense their presence.
It wasn’t very reliable, as the senses could easily be fooled.
But for now, Gabriel decided to bank on it.
Step! Step!
He heard faint footsteps behind him and narrowed his eyes. He swiftly spun around, ready to strike—only to find Anna behind him.
"Master, are you okay?" Anna asked, startled.
Gabriel stopped his fist, which was just a few inches away from his maid’s face.
He didn’t respond and instead punched the air behind her.
Anna was at first confused—then she heard the sound of someone crashing behind her.
"Ouch, dang it!"
-49
The huntress looked around, and her eyes shrank to pin size. "An invisibility-type skill?"
"Stay close to me!" Gabriel warned. "The enemy is still inside here!"
Just now, he had felt his fist connect with someone’s jaw, but whatever treasure allowed them to remain invisible seemed to be a pretty powerful one, as the person still remained unseen.
Right at that moment, they heard a muffled, painful grunt. It sounded as if the assassin was in intense pain and trying to suppress it.
A smirk appeared on Gabriel’s face, and he smashed his fist into the spot where he had heard the grunt.
Crack!
-50 (Critical Hit)
The sound of bone cracking echoed, and this time, the assassin roared in pain.
The air around him warped, and a youth in his late 20s slowly became visible.
His jaw was cracked, and a puddle of blood had formed right underneath his feet.
"You... you... what kind of monstrous strength is that?" was the only thing the assassin could say.
That second fist had chipped away all his health points, and he was now left with just 1 HP.
And one health point was no different from zero. A single wrong move and he would die!
"Who sent you?" Gabriel asked.
"You think I’ll tell you?" the youth laughed. "With my pitiful health, escaping this camp is impossible."
"You... I remember him!" Anna suddenly exclaimed.
"Who is he?" Gabriel turned to Anna. It might appear that his full attention was on the assassin, but in reality, he had already spread his perception around the entire tent.
"He’s a member of the Chain of Veylor," Anna replied, her eyes narrowing. "They sent him to get me."
"Or me," Gabriel replied. "After all, I’m the one that stomped into their base and killed all of them."
When Anna heard this, she felt it made a lot of sense.
Meanwhile, the assassin’s expression turned ugly as if he had just eaten a chili pepper. He was hoping to take this to the grave as a form of revenge.
Now, he was useless.
Gabriel turned to the assassin with a cold look, and the man flinched back. He hurriedly tried to summon something—what Gabriel assumed to be a healing potion.
But it was too late, as a fist smashed into his face again, killing him on the spot.
Just as he finished dealing with that assassin, Gabriel’s eyes narrowed again.
’The second one is still around.’
He didn’t say a word, only clenched his fist tightly.
The air inside the tent was unnaturally still. Anna stood close to him, her dagger drawn, scanning the surroundings with a cautious expression. She hadn’t spotted anything yet, but she could feel it.
Gabriel took a step forward, then paused. His perception flickered.
A slight gust brushed past his right shoulder.
’There you are.’
Without turning, he stomped his foot into the ground and threw an elbow backward!
CLANG!
Something deflected it!
Gabriel’s eyes widened slightly. This one was different from the first assassin. More alert, faster reaction speed, and probably more experienced too.
He didn’t retreat. Instead, he raised both arms to guard.
WHOOSH!
A thin blade sliced through the air, grazing his forearm.
Because he wasn’t able to activate Iron Body in time, the attack drew a line of blood.
But this was the least of Gabriel’s worries, as another screen flashed across his vision:
[Ding! You have been poisoned.]
---
While Gabriel was battling the assassin in another tent, the air warped and distorted softly as a red magical circle slowly lit up on the ground.
From the circle, a booted leg stepped out.
Lilith stared ahead, her gaze settling on the face of a raven-haired beauty who was fast asleep, her breath rising and falling rhythmically.
"Sleeping beauty," she whispered with a small smile on her face. "Time to put you in a deep slumber."
The leader of the Crimson Star Guild summoned a slim, thin blade and slowly approached the bed.
Her steps were soundless, even though she was walking normally.
Arriving before Scarlet, she raised her blade and stabbed her chest with the intention to kill.
