CHAPTER 215: SUBJUGATION QUEST [1]

"Thank you, Sir Gabriel... this wilderness excursion is the safest we have had in years," said the headmistress when the students returned to the capital.

"I’m glad to have been of help," replied Gabriel with a subtle nod.

"Oh right — I remember I asked you to evaluate the students," the headmistress said all of a sudden. "Although Instructor Clair gave me some names, I want to hear your opinion."

"Whether it was due to this being their first time participating in this activity, most of the students were very careless, and if not for my timely intervention most of them would have lost their lives," he said.

Headmistress Elira simply nodded; Clair had told her the same.

"However," Gabriel continued, "I think the only exception is... the otherworlder Samantha. She’s the most promising student among the elite."

"I see." The headmistress narrowed her eyes and muttered thoughtfully. "Clair said the same about her. Two people can’t possibly be wrong."

Afterwards, before he left, the headmistress opened a drawer, retrieved a token, and flipped it to Gabriel. He caught it thanks to his super-fast reflexes.

It was a secret Area Token.

The Headmistress smiled softly and said, "This is the promised reward."

Note: the initial reward for this quest was a couple of Valerian dollars, which Gabriel didn’t exactly need and had even overlooked since his goal was to complete the quest.

This was the special reward the headmistress had promised him for simply evaluating the students.

Naturally, Gabriel felt it wasn’t really necessary, and part of him never expected a reward, especially when he heard that Miss Clair had given the exact same evaluation as well.

At the same time, he couldn’t really say no — he was not the type to refuse gifts. "Thank you."

While he walked out of the office, his gaze was fixed on the green letters before him showing the details.

’This one is higher than the one Lord Garfield of Whitebridge gave me,’ Gabriel noted as he placed the token away for now, planning to use it later.

For now he had more important matters to attend to. Two days had passed, which meant that he had completed the territorial control mission.

Just to confirm, he logged into the forums and saw huge changes in the level ranking.

Ragnarok99 had overtaken IceQueen, reaching level 46.

After taking the mission from the elite section of the adventure groups, Gabriel proceeded to issue a quest to his subordinates, promising experience points.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t randomly assign a number of experience points; the system calculated and assigned them based on the importance of the mission.

It appeared the system rated the mission quite high and had rewarded them abundantly — hence the massive rise in the rankings.

Ragnarok99 wasn’t the only one who rose through the ranks; SniperBowLegend, Bunny, and BrawlerX did as well.

Together the four occupied the top four spots, pushing IceQueen down to fifth.

Arriving at his Kesla truck and using the auto-drive feature, he absent-mindedly scrolled through the forum.

On the forum there was currently a heated debate about how the four had increased their level so fast.

His eyes skimmed through the glowing green letters of the forum threads.

Gabriel smirked faintly. Players really didn’t understand how much the system weighted certain missions. He closed one tab and another thread immediately popped up.

Gabriel stopped reading there. Like the majority of players, he believed she probably knew a lot of secrets.

Suddenly he caught another message, and this one was from someone familiar.

StrongSamantha: Guys!!!! I just came back from the excursion... and you won’t believe it. Sir Broken was with us.

Player001: Cap. Screenshots or it didn’t happen.

MageGirl23: Wait, wait, WAIT. You mean THE Sir Broken??

At this point Gabriel logged out as he arrived at the Adventure Guild. Without wasting time, he strode inside and went straight to the counter in the elite section where he submitted both quests.

There was no time to rest; he randomly picked yet another mission.

The clerk froze for a moment and stammered. "Sir Gabriel, after two completions, are you sure—?"

"Yes." Gabriel nodded, his eyes scanning for the next mission.

He randomly picked from the list. This time it was a city-based quest — less dangerous on the surface. The level of danger didn’t really matter to him right now; his goal was simply to complete the quest.

Quest Type: Urban Subjugation

Location: Stellar City – Leo District Underground

Target: Unknown Creatures – reports of mutated beasts lurking beneath the city in the old sewer tunnels.

Required Party Size: (1–4)

Objective:

Identify and eliminate the source of the infestation.

Ensure no creatures escape to the surface.

Report findings back to the Adventurer Guild.

Rewards: 4,200 EXP, 5,000 Valerian Dollars, +3 Reputation with the Stellar City Guard.

While Gabriel was accepting the quest, he suddenly heard a voice from behind him.

"Hey, are you looking for a partner?"

He frowned because the voice sounded very familiar. When he turned around, he saw him — the deleter Andrew, standing there with a carefree smile on his face.
