CHAPTER 270: GUILD EXPANSION [2]

When the oders were given their tasks, everyone immediately dispatched to carry out their assignments.

Anna led Damian and Legendary Logan to their respective rooms. A makeshift workshop was created for Logan, and his room was in the same place.

The reason for this was simple—Logan was a player and didn’t really need a proper room, even though resting in-game could regenerate both mana and health points far more quickly.

Currently, Gabriel stood on the balcony, watching over the camp. While he had been away, no new batch of refugees had come to seek shelter, so the population remained the same.

One might ask why Gabriel was suddenly so concerned about expanding the camp and recruiting players into the Broken Dawn Guild.

The reason was rather simple.

In his past timeline, an event would be held a few weeks from now—an event that would shake the balance of the entire continent. Both natives and otherworlders would participate in it.

And this time, Gabriel wanted to be fully prepared.

’The last time, the WhiteFlame Guild had been lucky enough to benefit heavily from this event.’

In fact, if his memory served him right, it was the only event where the WhiteFlame Guild had bested all the others. Because of their status as the weakest among the Big Five, they usually only picked up the scraps left behind by the stronger guilds.

This was the one time they had managed to surpass everyone else.

Unfortunately for them, Gabriel, armed with the knowledge of his past life, intended to snatch even this opportunity away.

If the guild leader of WhiteFlame knew about this, he would probably want to murder Gabriel a thousand times over.

’For that, I need numbers... Moreover, there’s the issue with the Tempest family. Who knows when they’ll attack me again... I need hundreds of minions in place to act as cannon fodder,’ he thought, a serious look crossing his features.

Yes, you guessed it—Gabriel’s plan was to keep the players at the frontlines of the battlefield while the natives stayed behind.

That had been his plan from the very beginning, and now that he felt he had sufficient reputation to pull in a crowd, it was time to put it into motion.

Moments later, he opened his guild tab.

Although the interface showed a limit of thirty members, Gabriel could easily recruit more to join his camp first. The promising ones among them would later be directly promoted to guild members—becoming part of the true core.

Although the camp served as the guild’s base, not everyone within it could be considered a real member. Most were just refugees living in his territory. The players, on the other hand, would be unofficial members—at least until the guild leveled up and could accommodate more people.

"Once the camp’s expansion begins, we’ll have the perfect excuse to start pulling players in... and when the event starts, they’ll already be under my banner," he muttered.

---

Sophie, Cassie, and BrawlerX were the next to leave the camp, leading a small team of refugees into the forest east of the base. The morning air was crisp, the trees swaying lightly as rays of sunlight cut through the leaves.

"Spread out and start cutting from that side!" BrawlerX shouted, pointing toward the thicker part of the woods. His deep voice carried easily across the clearing. "Keep your distance from the wildlife! If you see anything glowing red, run first and shout later!"

"Yes, sir!"

The workers responded quickly, swinging axes, setting up temporary fences, and marking safe zones with mana paint.

Sophie stood quietly by a large oak, observing the process. Her presence alone brought order. Even without raising her voice, her calm authority made everyone listen.

A group of curious refugees watched from afar. Most of them had never seen a high-level player before—let alone one like BrawlerX, whose reputation as a tournament veteran had spread across multiple forums.

Sophie crouched beside a tree, placing her hand against the bark. A faint green glow pulsed from her palm, spreading through the trunk. The wood hardened, shimmered briefly, then softened enough to be cut with ease.

"That should make the process faster," she said softly.

BrawlerX grinned. "Never gets old watching you do that nature stuff."

Sophie smiled faintly behind her veil. "It’s just efficiency. No need to make things harder than they already are."

"Still cool though," he replied. "When we’re done here, I’ll have the recruits carry half the load back to base and stash the rest in the forest outpost."

"Good. Tell them to replant saplings along the cleared paths. If we keep chopping without care, monsters will start nesting closer."

BrawlerX blinked. "You really think that’ll happen?"

Sophie didn’t answer. Her gaze drifted deeper into the woods, where faint growls echoed in the distance. The monsters here were stronger than before. The hunting teams had cleared them once, but it seemed a new batch had taken over the territory again.

Even now, she could feel faint tremors beneath her boots—something was stirring beyond the treeline.

"Everyone, continue with what you’re doing. I’ll be back soon."

"Prin— I mean, Sophie!"

"Stay here. It’s just a bunch of monsters; I’ll deal with them," she said softly before dashing into the forest.

The refugees obeyed without argument. BrawlerX noticed the tension in her tone but didn’t question it.

Meanwhile, Sophie darted through the woods like a green blur, her boots barely making a sound as leaves fluttered in her wake.

The sounds of growling and snapping branches grew louder. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted three creatures emerging from the underbrush—mutated boars with black tusks and glowing red eyes.
