CHAPTER 330: FLOOR 99 FINAL! FLOOR 100 UNLOCKED!
On Broken Dawn’s side.
The duke was true to his word when he said he had stopped holding back.
The moment he said those words, a storm of blood aura exploded out of his body. It was like a tsunami, and because Gabriel was caught unaware, he was sent flying like a kite with damaged wings!
BOOM! BANG!
Like a rag doll, he crashed through pillar after pillar before eventually stopping.
From the rubble and dust, he tried to pick himself up, but the duke was already upon him with claws raised and aimed for his face.
Gabriel was unarmed. The sudden surge of energy had sent his sword flying about twenty metres away. Without a moment of hesitation, he grabbed a flat brick and placed it between himself and the incoming fangs.
CLANG!
The ear-splitting sound of iron scraping against concrete echoed. The duke’s face grew even darker; what Gabriel had done had clearly pissed him off.
But the brick bought just enough time for him to use Burrow Shift and appear right before his greatsword.
’He’s unlike the other hero ranks I’ve faced.’ Gabriel noted. He had fought his fair share of battles against Hero Rank opponents in this lifetime and the previous, and he could tell this was not the strength of a normal Hero Rank. Rather, it was that of someone close to level 130–150.
He wasn’t sure, but he was certain it was around that range.
Gripping Crimson Judgement, he stomped the ground and shot forward. Upon arriving, he struck.
The duke dodged—then his eyes shrank in horror when he saw the blade following.
That first strike... it was bloody fast!
At the nick of time, he conjured a barrier of blood. When the blade struck, there was a slight ripple—but it held.
Then he snapped his fingers, and Gabriel felt the ground vibrate, almost throwing him off.
By instinct, he suddenly leaped upward.
Moments later—
BOOOOM!
A massive pair of thick blood chains exploded out of the ground. Dust and debris spread outward, causing the others to lose sight for a moment.
As though they had lives of their own, the thick chains lunged forward hungrily, stretching toward Gabriel.
He thought he had jumped far, but he had underestimated the vampire duke’s control, and the hunger of the blood chains.
Swish! Swish!
They stretched into the air, covering about thirty metres. Because of his unnatural Strength stat, Gabriel was relatively high in the air.
His eyes widened slightly when he saw the chains drawing close. Even before he could react mid-air, they latched onto his foot and pulled with a force that knocked the air from his lungs.
BANG!
His body smashed into the ground with such devastating force that a deep crater, over eight metres deep, appeared. Spiderweb cracks spread from the crater.
Rumble! Rumble!
The entire floor trembled and the pillars bent slightly... one more loud disturbance and they might topple.
"Gabriel!" Sophie’s heart clenched when she saw him slammed into the ground.
She wanted to rush over.
A hand stopped her.
She slowly turned and saw Anna.
Confusion and anger flashed across her face. "Why are you holding me back?" she asked in an unnaturally calm voice for the current situation.
She was barely controlling herself—anyone could see that.
In a calm voice, Anna spoke. "Don’t interfere. This fight is very important to Master... he would be more pissed if you got involved."
"But... but..." Sophie stuttered, unable to form proper words.
Deep inside the crater, Gabriel lay on his back. A wave of pain burned through his entire body.
Bearing through it, he dragged himself up.
Burrow Shift!
Activating the skill, he escaped the crater, but the blood chain was still wrapped around his leg. The other end remained in the duke’s hand, who wore a cocky smile.
Channeling over 100 mana points into his blade until it radiated a reddish glow, he severed the chains. They tried to reach and latch onto him again, but he was faster.
Bull Rush!
The duke moved as well, creating a greatsword made of blood. He arrived before Gabriel and they simultaneously struck.
CLANG!
Both were equally matched.
"How are you stronger than your level?" the vampire duke finally blurted out—what had been bothering him all this while.
"I’d like to ask the same thing!" Gabriel snickered as he went for a killing strike.
’I could have weakened him considerably if I swapped my class to the Demonic Exorcist class, but with all the cameras and viewers watching, it would be a big giveaway.’
He knew very well the entire Valerian Kingdom was watching, and among them were powerful individuals. That was why he was cautious about revealing his second class.
Seeing the sudden confidence on Gabriel’s face, the duke became uncomfortable. He felt the human had a wicked plan, but it was hard to read this particular human as he masked his emotions beneath a cold exterior.
"I better kill him fast before he does anything stupid!" Thinking this, he conjured blood knives in the air and flicked his wrist.
FWOOOOSH! Swoosh!
"Guard Robe!" Gabriel activated his treasure and a transparent barrier appeared around him, taking the brunt of the attack.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
He watched in real time as the durability of his gold-rank treasure depleted at a rapid pace.
Annoyed, the duke waved his hand and conjured another cluster of blood knives. Dozens more appeared.
He grinned, savage light flashing in his eyes. "Let’s see how long you can keep it up!"
While firing the blood projectiles, he stepped forward, closing the distance.
When he got within a certain range, Gabriel’s voice—although low—carried across the floor.
"Stonebind Trap activated! Grizzlenaught, now!"
He said it so suddenly that even the duke was stunned and confused.
A presence emerged behind him. When he turned, he saw a red creature with sharp electric-blue eyes.
He tried to move but found it extremely difficult.
At that moment, the Hero Rank vampire’s expression darkened.
Grizzlenaught growled angrily. His eyes flashed like those of a divine judge as he brought down his claws.
A sweet, pleasant notification echoed across the entire floor.
