CHAPTER 73: BACKSTABBING

"We are harmless," Harry shouted.

Jessie and Sephie almost choked. What a way to show them that you are harmless.

Harry was holding a sword and was still saying he was harmless.

Both groups met in the middle.

"We are all here for the exam. There’s no meaning in fighting," the man standing in the lead said, keeping his iron axe on his back.

The gesture made the tension die down.

"Why are you coming this way?" Harry asked, frowning.

"We were running away from a strong beast, and the path led us here. Surely, it should be lurking in the forest," the man explained while his two partners nodded.

The man talking had a broad physique. The axe tied to his back was as big as his torso.

The other two men were skinny in build. They had different types of blades.

"Then we have bad news for you. On the other side, you will find multiple strong beasts in a group," Harry informed.

The man pondered for some time and then suggested, "I have a suggestion—help us kill that beast in the forest, and we will lead you to a place where most of the students are residing."

Harry had already inspected the man. He was a level 6 master, while the other two were level 5 masters.

"Do you have any idea about that beast’s power level?" Harry asked.

Harry noticed something peculiar. These men had a 1.10 lakh rank on their badges.

He took a glance at his own badges. It was also showing 1.10 lakh on hid badges.

"I am not sure, but it should be level 5," the man replied.

Harry looked at the man with a calm expression and asked,

"Can we discuss?"

"Sure," the man said politely.

Harry took Jessie and Sephie aside. He made a space barrier to block any sound.

The man got annoyed because the trio was talking for the last five minutes.

Finally, the trio returned. "We are ready. Let’s go."

All six people walked for three hours in the mountains when they noticed a forest. Well, it was not as dense as Darkwood Forest. Opposite to that, it consisted of small trees and bushes.

The area seemed visible enough.

"Where’s the beast?" Harry asked.

The man smiled—it was odd—but then he said,

"He must be deep inside."

With that, he continued walking.

Their walk continued for another 15 minutes when the man and his two subordinates stopped.

"Sheww!"

A voice whispered in the jungle, and a big scythe descended upon them, trying to kill all three in a single swoop.

But before it could connect, the man was already dead, killed by Jessie’s whip sword. Harry made a space barrier to speed up and covered his soul energy in the space barrier, using his special way to use shadow technique.

The sword clashed with the blade, sending Harry shivering back.

The man’s hand also trembled, holding the blades.

When the other two saw that, a deadly aura erupted. Their leader unleashed his axe. Punching it down into the earth, two wood spikes erupted from the ground.

They took Harry by surprise, piercing Harry in his leg.

Harry winced in pain.

Sephie stood by him and met the broad man head-on.

In the meantime, Jessie also reached. She whipped her sword, but a stone wall appeared before it.

Maneuvering behind the rock, a man came within close distance of Jessie.

Jessie was surprised by the sudden emergence of the man. Her whip worked on the basis of torque, so it needed distance to generate momentum.

In close combat, it was more of a hurdle than a help.

She threw her whip sword into the ring and summoned ice shards in the air.

The man defended against them by making a stone shield on his arms.

In the time, Jessie had already increased the distance between them.

The man either kept a safe distance to save himself from her whip or kept the distance close enough for her to not use it.

Harry freed himself. The injury was big, but he had control over his blood, so there was no blood flowing out.

Harry went against his original enemy. It had already started recovering from his sudden soul attack.

Harry, gliding through the shadows, appeared behind him and attacked his calves. The man jumped in the air—two wings grew out of his shoulders.

Harry was watching the man go up when he saw a dagger flying towards him at dangerous speed.

He shifted sideways, which caused the dagger to pass through his shoulder, making a hole.

"Fuc... yooo!"

He cried in pain. The dagger fell to the ground.

Then it trembled and started hovering in the air.

It was not the first time for Harry to see someone use telekinesis, but it was the first time seeing such force behind telekinesis.

Harry had nothing that he could do against a flying enemy. Well, he had a bow, but without distraction, it wouldn’t help. And shooting arrows would only give the man more weapons to play with.

Harry approached Jessie. She was already fighting with her enemy. She had injured him with punches and kicks, but he was still putting up a fight.

"Wanna switch?" Harry asked, making puppy eyes.

"Gladly," Jessie winked.

Then hundreds of sharp ice shards were summoned into the mid-air. The man panicked and fell to the ground. But that wouldn’t stop those 1,000 shards.

Harry was groaning in pain. It was getting worse. His legs were hurting like hell. He let some of his blood drip down onto the ground.

Then he threw a barrage of soul pulses toward the man.

The man summoned a stone wall, making all his efforts go in vain.

The man came out of the wall and rushed toward Harry, wanting to take him by surprise. But Harry was ready for his cheap trick.

Harry cast a small barrier at the man’s leg, which made him stumble and fall to the ground.

While the man summoned another stone wall to evade any follow-up attacks, he didn’t notice a small pool of blood on the ground.

As his head was about to struck ground, the blood took shape of a knife.
