Chapter 170 - Yang Yi, round as a ball

Author: 新买的桃子

Yang Yi was hauled onto the ship with a grappling hook but got stuck in the cabin, unable to move. After all, the cabin was packed with supplies, charred liquor, sea salt, pale worm oil, food provisions, and more.

The narrow walkways were designed for people of normal size, not for an excessively obese werewolf.

Over three metres tall and likely more than two wide, Yang Yi's wolf legs were as thick as elephant legs. When he looked down, he couldn’t even see his feet, his body was absurdly fat.

After deactivating his werewolf form, his body did shrink a bit, but he was still overweight. He stood at 1.8 metres tall, weighed 480 kilograms, and was over a metre wide. But at least he could move through the passageways, albeit with great difficulty, as his attributes had taken quite a hit.

“Put your mask on,” Suna reminded him.

Yang Yi had long since lost his original iron beaked mask, but luckily he had a spare in his ring. He immediately took it out and put it on.

“Do you remember what you did?” Suna asked, notebook and pen in hand.

“I do.” Yang Yi recounted everything he could remember.

“Looks like the memories remain even during a loss of control, you just couldn’t act on your own will,” Suna nodded. “What about the ‘Craving for Delicacies’? You drank a massive amount of seawater and salt... and even ate the Fruit of Bounty!”

Yang Yi checked his status screen again and found no sign of the "Craving for Delicacies" debuff. It was likely that either the massive intake of sea salt or the effect of the Gluttony Potion had removed it.

Suna jotted down her notes and asked again, “Do you still want to eat?”

“No, I feel so full, I don’t want to eat anything right now.”

Suna nodded, confirming his condition. Aside from being overweight, there were no other abnormalities. The Gluttony Potion triggered an extreme satiety effect once enough food was consumed, suppressing further appetite.

With the crisis resolved and safety confirmed, Suna finally asked the question that had been on her mind.

“What exactly happened in there?” she asked, her crimson eyes staring straight into Yang Yi.

He didn’t hold anything back, he told her everything: the stats of the Child of Bounty and the Salt King, his battle with the former, and the condition of the Fruit of Bounty within the Rotwhale.

A dozen minutes later...

“I see. So, the Rotwhale’s core was usually in a dormant state... What a shame the Salt Wedge is gone, it could’ve been a fascinating subject of study,” Suna murmured to herself.

“What about the Fruit of Bounty? Don’t tell me it all turned to salt?” Yang Yi asked urgently.

If that were the case, then his daring expedition into the Rotwhale would have been a huge failure, he wouldn’t have retrieved the most critical item.

“Most of it did saltify. I only managed to salvage this,” Suna replied, pulling a shrivelled chunk of meat from her treasure pouch.

“This piece fell from where the Salt Wedge was inserted. The rest likely sank to the bottom of the sea.”

Yang Yi took the meat and instantly received its data:

【Name: Withered Fragment of the Fruit of Bounty】

【Description: Residual fragment of the Fruit of Bounty within the Rotwhale, now non-regenerative. Can be used in the Monster Vending Machine. Serves as proof of the Rotwhale’s defeat, a symbol of honour. When ground into powder and ingested, it has life-extending properties. An exceptional tonic, highly valued by certain groups, and worth a fortune on the black market.】

“That’s it?” Yang Yi asked dazedly.

“That’s all,” Suna replied.

“There’s also a waterlogged book, a lock made of sea-silver, and a human-skin manual.”

【Name: Exquisite Lock Made of Sea-Silver】

【Description: A finely crafted lock made from the rare metal sea-silver. A gift from someone to their father. Can be dismantled for 0.2 units of sea-silver.

Sea-silver: A rare metallic resource believed to be formed when stars sink into the ocean. Extremely scarce, it occasionally appears in ore veins or caverns due to tectonic seabed movements.】

Yang Yi didn’t dismantle the lock and instead stored it in his ring.

“Is the material for upgrading the ship to level 4 just... too rare? Did I miscalculate something?”

He fell into deep thought.

Intuitively speaking, even for a special ship, upgrading to level four shouldn’t be so difficult. If it had been another player, they probably would’ve been long dead. Could it be that the regenerating flesh had many options to choose from? The more Yang Yi thought about it, the more likely that seemed.

As it was just level four, materials for a ship upgrade couldn’t be so absurdly hard to obtain. He figured he should consult other captains of special ships and make some comparisons.

Suna drank a regeneration potion, slightly restoring her HP. Seeing that, Yang Yi suddenly remembered, they were still wearing the split Penitent Armour!

While HP was draining very slowly, almost negligible for someone with Yang Yi’s constitution, it was a different story for Suna. The damage to her was much more serious.

Yang Yi controlled the Penitent Armour, walking it out of the lab.

“Retract the spikes!” he ordered.

But it showed no response.

“Don’t bother,” Suna said. “I already tried, whether to retract or drive the spikes in, it doesn’t respond to commands.”

“Oh really?” Yang Yi glanced at the armour, a chill flickering in his eyes.

“That’s simple then. I’ve been thinking about melting it down and reforging it into a new set anyway. That should eliminate the negative effects. What was the lab’s maximum temperature again?” he asked.

“Two thousand degrees should be no problem, but…” Suna looked surprised. She hadn’t expected Yang Yi to suggest destroying the armour, but she didn’t object. In fact, she was quite curious to dissect and analyse it herself.

The very next second, all the spikes on both of their armours instantly retracted, with astonishing speed.

“What the...?”

“It understands human speech. Quick, take it off, don’t let it know our plan! It might be able to sense our thoughts!” Yang Yi messaged her privately.

Suna’s eyes lit up with intrigue. Her interest in the armour deepened.

“I have to study it!”

“Don’t push it. If it resists, it could be dangerous. Best if I’m around when you examine it,” Yang Yi replied.

They exchanged the thoughts in private, while the armour remained blissfully unaware.

After removing it, Suna’s hands felt like they were being stabbed by a thousand needles. They were covered in puncture marks, blood flowing freely. Luckily, the lab had medical resources.

She rinsed her hands in a solution of Healing Pearl water, then wrapped her right hand in bandages. There wouldn’t be any permanent scarring. As for Yang Yi, he had to turn sideways just to enter the witch’s lab. Even a slight bump could knock something over — it was a bit embarrassing.

His body was way too inconvenient!

Thankfully, with his thick skin and sturdy build, his wounds didn’t even need bandaging, they had already stopped bleeding.

“I’m going to rest for a bit. We’ll talk about everything else after I wake up,” Yang Yi said, pulling out a sleeping potion.

The effects of the mental potion were about to wear off. Once that happened, his mana essence would drop to zero, and he’d be completely unable to move.

And in his weakened state, he could barely do anything. Just a few steps would cause his stamina to plummet...

So, Yang Yi decided to sleep. Once the weakness wore off, he’d move more easily, then he could finally start thinking about how to lose weight.
