BOOM!

The violent impact struck without warning, the sound deafening, accompanied by a sharp crack.

That must’ve been the mast breaking.

It stood at the centre of the deck, which was connected to the lookout platform. It took the brunt of the tsunami and was the first to be destroyed.

The force of the impact was continuous and overwhelming. It came so suddenly that the entire cabin spun and tilted wildly, filled with the sounds of rushing water and bubbling currents.

In the face of such a terrifying tsunami, the Nightmare Star was utterly helpless, tossed about like a toy, swept into the waves, spinning and tumbling as if trapped inside a giant washing machine.

Trying to hold on to anything in that chaos was nearly impossible, unless one tied themselves down with ropes.

But that would mean sacrificing mobility. And if anything in the cabin came loose and struck, the consequences could be disastrous!

Sensing the imminent danger, Yang Yi immediately transformed into a werewolf, pulling Suna tightly into his arms and raising his crystal greatshield to guard against flying cargo.

Though everything had been secured in advance, the tsunami’s sheer force far exceeded Yang Yi’s expectations.

In just seconds, several ropes snapped, and barrels rolled loose, so fast that even the netting meant to absorb shock failed to catch them. They crashed to the floor and shattered.

Supplies went flying in all directions.

If it was just canned food or splinters, they would only cause bruises or shallow cuts. But if a whole barrel slammed into someone, it could be fatal. At best, it would break bones. At worst, it could crush a skull.

Thanks to his third eye’s dynamic vision and his exceptional bodily coordination, Yang Yi managed to dodge most of the airborne debris.

His crystal shield provided excellent protection.

After roughly forty seconds, the chaos finally began to subside. The spinning slowed, and the ship gradually found its balance, no longer rolling.

But now the vessel had flipped over, slightly tilted, with the cabin floor now facing upwards like a ceiling.

What’s more, Yang Yi could clearly feel that the Nightmare Star was ascending, like an elevator rising through water.

He looked around.

To his relief, there were no cracks or leaks visible. A blessing amid the disaster.

The bone-reinforced deck and hull had held strong.

Plus, the sugar coating wrapped around the ship’s exterior had drastically improved its seal against water, keeping it from flooding.

Yang Yi set Suna down and patted the wolf hairs on his body, shaking off bits of debris.

His captain’s coat was torn in several places, but he himself was unharmed. After all, ordinary splinters couldn’t pierce his quill-like iron fur.

Once Suna found her footing, she squatted down with a pale face, and finally couldn’t hold it in any longer.

She started vomiting uncontrollably.

She wasn’t injured, Yang Yi had protected her well. But that earlier ordeal, the sensation of being inside a spinning drum, was simply too intense. The dizziness and nausea were overpowering.

Only the very best fighter pilots or astronauts might’ve resisted the urge to puke.

Well, that, or someone like Yang Yi, who possessed a third eye, extraordinary physique, and a brain that could keep pace with his body; only such a person could resist the discomfort completely.

“There was way too much cargo in the cabin… I should’ve tossed some of it earlier,” Yang Yi muttered to himself, gazing at the chaotic mess around them.

Roughly one-tenth of the barrels had either broken or come loose, scattering supplies all over the place.

The floor was slick with oil from pale worms, mixed with sea salt, a sticky, greasy mess.

Suddenly, an unusual sizzling sound caught Yang Yi’s attention.

He immediately ran towards it, and discovered that a thin crack had appeared in the hull near the ancient operations room, leaking water.

A cannon had toppled to the floor, its securing ropes snapped.

The crack was likely caused by the cannon smashing into the wall after it broke loose.

He immediately used the crystal greatshield to block the leak, but to his surprise, the shield was sliced open, a chunk taken clean off.

“A water blade?”

Yang Yi raised an eyebrow, a bit surprised.

Fortunately, this water blade only had such destructive power right near the breach in the hull, otherwise, the interior of the ship would’ve been torn apart.

It was caused by high-pressure seawater, indicating that the Nightmare Star was deep underwater. If left unchecked, the crack would widen, and once it became a full water jet, things would be bad. The Nightmare Star might even sink completely!

Yang Yi immediately ordered the Penitent Armour, which had fallen to the floor, to get up and block the leak. It was of premium quality, so its hardness should be reliable.

The high-pressure water blade slammed into the armor, bursting into mist on impact, the force was immense.

The armour couldn’t hold the breach at all. The external water pressure was just too overwhelming!

Yang Yi’s mind raced and quickly formed a plan. He ordered the skeletal arms to extend from the outside of the hull and press against the crack.

One arm wouldn’t be enough. But many, packed tightly together, could make a difference.

The flow of water visibly slowed.

The mass of skeletal arms pressing on the breach proved highly effective.

Once a temporary patch was added over the crack, the slow leak of seawater finally stopped.

Yang Yi let out a long sigh of relief, he had managed to save the Nightmare Star. But elsewhere, unknown to him…

From a cracked barrel, a pale worm’s tentacle extended, greedily slurping the seawater mixed with salt and worm oil.

Suddenly, an arrow struck the tentacle, stopping its feeding.

The tentacle shrivelled and curled.

Suna had noticed the worm sneaking a taste and immediately launched an attack

She walked over to the barrel, her expression stern.  She had only just recovered from her dizziness and nausea.

Inside, the pale worm trembled as if sensing danger.

It had been raised like a pet and cared for by Suna, so it had no will to resist.

Suna opened the lid and checked inside, relieved to see that the worm hadn’t grown any tumours. It was a rare experimental specimen, and its bile was essential for making Sleep Elixirs.

Nothing could be allowed to go wrong.

Soon enough, all the worm’s tiny tentacles were cut off. It was balled up and tossed into another sealed barrel.

At that moment, Yang Yi returned, having just finished sealing the breach.

He stepped into the room, wading through ankle-deep water mixed with grease and seawater.

“What happened?” he asked.

“The pale worm specimen snuck a sip of seawater. Not sure if it’ll mutate. We’ll have to monitor it closely,” Suna replied, holding several severed tentacles in her hand before stuffing them into her bag of holding.

After that initial impact, the Nightmare Star took no further damage and continued rising.

About five minutes later, the ship broke through the surface, launched ten metres into the air before crashing back into the sea.

Because of the ship’s structure, it rolled a few times upon landing, before flipping from its inverted position back into its normal sailing posture, though now listing slightly to the left.

Inside the cabin, Yang Yi and Suna were both dishevelled from the sudden leap and roll. Their clothes were soaked in slimy grease and seawater.

Thankfully, neither was hurt, just dirty.
