Guide Me If You Dare
Chapter 239: MEMORY SYNCHRONIZATION (1)
CHAPTER 239: MEMORY SYNCHRONIZATION (1)
HMM?
When Moon Noa woke up, he felt colder than usual.
He patted the space next to it and, as expected, it was empty.
No wonder it felt cold.
Ryu Sungbin?
"Hyung, you’re awake?"
Moon Noa opened his eyes lazily, and he was rewarded by the most handsome man he had ever seen.
The best part?
Ryu Sungbin was only wearing jeans that barely clung to his hips.
It was obvious that the Esper had just finished taking a bath— the drops of water falling from the tips of his wet hair rolled down his torso, making him look hotter than he already was.
And that hot specimen is mine.
Heh.
"You got a letter from Haru-nim again."
"Japan’s dethroned Crown Prince?"
"Yes, that very Haru-nim," Ryu Sungbin said, sitting down on the bed while handing Moon Noa the letter that he mentioned. "I don’t understand why he keeps sending you letters when there are more advanced ways to reach out to you. For example, he could send a formal request to the National Guide Bureau."
Right?
But to be honest...
"I don’t mind receiving these kinds of letters," Moon Noa said, smiling while touching the fancy and elegant envelope. "For once, all the letters that Haru-nim has sent to me came in beautiful envelopes. The envelope is art itself, so I find myself collecting them even though I never opened them."
Yes, he had never opened the letters that Haru had sent to him.
Well, not the recent ones, at least.
I can tell that they are love letters, after all.
Moon Noa wasn’t being delusional.
He opened the first letter Haru sent to him because he thought it would be rude to ignore a present from Japan’s former Crown Prince.
I don’t want my country to have another beef with their country.
But, in that letter, Haru had only expressed his admiration for Moon Noa.
Hence, he sent a formal letter to the former Crown Prince asking him to send a formal request letter to the National Guide Bureau if he wanted to talk about business.
That never happened, though.
"Hyung, I can also send you love letters, you know?"
"But you never did, Sungbin-ah."
"I’m going to start sending them, then."
Pfft.
Moon Noa raised his head, and then he smiled when he saw Ryu Sungbin pouting. "Are you jealous?"
"It’s annoying how Haru-nim keeps sending you personal letters," Ryu Sungbin said firmly. "The entire world knows that we’re together, Hyung."
"To be fair, we didn’t announce that we’re already dating— the world just knows that I’m your exclusive Guide."
"Then I’ll make an announcement that we’re together— as in together— so Haru-nim will stop crushing on you."
"Yes, let’s do that," Moon Noa said, nodding. "I’ll also send Haru-nim a reply. It’s about time I formally turn him down now that we decided to make our relationship public."
He was a very private person, so he didn’t feel the need to announce their relationship in the past.
But Ryu Sungbin looked anxious.
"Thank you, Hyung," Ryu Sungbin said, acting like a puppy as he showered Moon Noa with kisses on the face. "And I’m sorry for being childish."
"I like it when you’re being jealous," Moon Noa said, holding Ryu Sungbin’s hand and guiding it to his erection. "But you have to take responsibility for this, brat."
"Gladly."
***
THEY WEREN’T love letters.
Aigoo.
Moon Noa wanted to dig a hole and hide there for at least a year out of embarrassment.
Since the first letter that he got from Haru was a letter expressing his admiration for him, he assumed that the other letters that the former Crown Prince had sent were confessions.
But, come to think of it...
"Haru-nim expressed his admiration for the first S-Class Guide in the world," Moon Noa whispered to himself, removing his glasses. Then he sighed and pressed the bridge of his nose. "He never said he likes me as a person."
Now, after reading the recent "love letters" that Haru sent to him, he became certain.
These letters are disguised as love letters to hide the real message.
And the real message was found in the middle of the long content.
So, Haru-nim discovered a group of strange Guides who don’t match the current official classes that we have. That’s why he wants me to check on them. But he doesn’t want to gain attention, so he wants to meet me in private.
In short, Haru wanted Moon Noa to pretend to go on a date with him.
I should stop Ryu Sungbin from making our relationship public in the meantime.
Then he would need to travel to Japan since Haru couldn’t bring the Guides that he found to South Korea.
To be honest, he had no obligation to help the former Crown Prince.
We still have an odd relationship with Japan, after all.
However, as the first S-Class Guide in the world, Moon Noa felt responsible.
"Sir, here’s your coffee."
Oh.
Moon Noa raised his head and found Jung Ara— one of his trusted house helper— carefully place a cup of coffee on his table.
The coffee’s aroma helped lessen his headache.
"Thank you, Ahjumma."
"Y-You’re welcome, sir."
Hmm?
It had been a while since he hired Jung Ara after he met her in a shelter that he saved before.
He also hired Park Suro— Jung Ara’s husband— as his personal driver.
They were nice to me at the shelter, and I felt like I could trust them.
And he wasn’t wrong.
Both Jung Ara and Park Suro were tight-lipped, too.
Moreover, the couple never took advantage of Moon Noa’s generosity to his people.
And most of my subordinates failed in that aspect.
Hopefully, Jung Ara wouldn’t suffer the same fate.
"Ahjumma, do you need something from me?"
"Sir, you’re a Guide, aren’t you?"
"Yes, I am. Can I help you as a Guide?"
"Is there a language that’s exclusive to Guides only?"
"Not that I’m aware of," Moon Noa said. Now that he knew Jung Ara wasn’t trying to take advantage of him, the house helper caught his attention. "Ahjumma, I can only help you if I know what’s happening."
Jung Ara looked hesitant at first.
But, in the end, the ahjumma took out an envelope from the pocket of her uniform.
With shaking hands, Jung Ara handed it to Moon Noa.
"My husband and I have an adopted son," Jung Ara started explaining then. "We didn’t adopt him legally, but we became his guardians when the Facility took him in."
Ah.
Now I see the problem.
"The Facility," Moon Noa said, leaning against the seat. "Please elaborate, Ahjumma."
***
THIS IS a cry for help.
To be fair, Moon Noa couldn’t decipher the content of the message in the letter.
The lines just look like doodles to me.
However, that wasn’t really the message.
The envelope was actually covered with Mana— Mana that he couldn’t recognize.
I just know that it belongs to a Guide.
Ah, he understood one line from the countless "doodles" in the letter.
’E-Class.’
That caught Moon Noa’s attention.
There’s no E-Class Guide or Esper in the world.
"The Facility, huh? What are you hiding from the world?" Moon Noa whispered to himself, smiling. "I guess it’s time to visit the Facility."
He grabbed his phone and called the person he wanted to work with.
Fortunately, that grumpy boy picked up the call.
"You have ten seconds, sly fox."
"Ki Gayoon-ssi, let’s go on a date—"
BEEP.
The strongest Esper in South Korea hung up on the first S-Class Guide in the world.
Aigoo.
Moon Noa sighed while shaking his head. "You’ll regret this someday, Gayoon-ssi."
And that Ki Gayoon did.
