Guide Me If You Dare
Chapter 260: JOB OFFER
CHAPTER 260: JOB OFFER
"SO, you have the palate of a kid, huh?"
Tsk.
Yihun ignored Moon Noa and continued eating his third bulgogi burger.
After the commotion that the two of them started in the middle of the crowd earlier, he felt embarrassed.
People watched them as if they were watching a drama.
Worse, many people had recognized Moon Noa already.
Hence, Yihun ran away and entered the first establishment that caught his attention— a fast food restaurant.
Since he was angry anyway, he ordered all the kinds of burgers available.
With fries and cider, of course.
Yihun was peacefully enjoying his late dinner when Moon Noa joined him.
And the S-Class Guide’s order?
A freaking coffee.
But it’s amusing to see Moon Noa-ssi drink cheap coffee when I’ve only seen him brew fancy coffee every morning for the past year.
"Yuno-ya, don’t ignore me."
Moon Noa sounded playful, but Yihun noticed the mild irritation in the S-Class Guide’s voice.
How scary.
Hence, he put down his half-eaten burger and sat up straight.
"Noa-ssi, I understand that you did what you did because you wanted to get a reaction from me," Yihun said sternly. "But you stole my art and posted my sketches on giant billboards for the whole world to see without my permission. I deserve an apology."
"Yes, I’m sorry, Yuno-ya."
What?
Yihun was taken aback when Moon Noa apologized immediately.
The most surprising part?
He sounds sincere...
"I’ll also apologize to Nam Sori-ssi later," Moon Noa said, his voice still full of remorse. "Actually, I asked Nam Sori-ssi to give me your sketchbooks and old art materials. I told her that I’d give them back to you. But, obviously, I lied."
Tsk.
I knew it— Sori wouldn’t have given my sketchbooks and art materials to this cunning fox had she known what he’d do with them.
"Like you said, I did all of this to get a reaction from you," Moon Noa confessed. "I know that you refused to talk because you were broken inside. Of course, I also know how long it takes to heal from that kind of wound. Even so, I have a reason for being impatient. I’m not saying it’s an excuse— I’m just saying that I didn’t force you to talk for fun."
Oh.
Yihun remembered yelling at Moon Noa, telling him that everything wasn’t a joke.
It seems like I struck a nerve.
"Then I’ll listen," Yihun said. Actually, he felt bad for yelling at Moon Noa. Aside from the fact that they had a huge age gap between them, this was also the person who rescued him and helped his friends for the past year. That was the least thing he could do for him. "But, first, please promise me you’ll have the billboards of my drawings removed."
"I already did," Moon Noa said, smiling. "My people are already taking down those billboards as we speak. You’ve already seen them, after all."
He wanted to say it was a big waste of money, but then, he remembered Moon Noa was a chaebol.
This kind of stuff probably didn’t leave a dent in his wealth.
"Yihun-ah, you’re a Guide."
Oh.
"And all Guides belong to the government."
Yihun clenched his hands tight, but he couldn’t refute what Moon Noa had just said.
It was true, after all.
Guides aren’t as free as Espers.
"As a Guide, you’re required to work for the government. The Lab is already gone, but the government has already established a branch that handles all things related to Guides."
Yihun wouldn’t know because he was trapped in the Lab for so long.
And he didn’t touch any kind of device for the past year.
He just stayed in his room— his mouth shut, his eyes glued to the ceiling.
"Yihun-ah, I’m saying you’ll be required to work as a Guide."
"I don’t want to work as a Guide anymore," Yihun said, hugging himself when he started to tremble. He didn’t want to act like this either. But remembering all the things he had gone through made him shiver. "If you’re here to force me to be a Guide, then just kick me out of the house—"
"You don’t have to work as a Guide," Moon Noa said, cutting him off. "I’ll still register you as a Guide since I don’t want you to be an ’alien’ in your own country. But instead of working for the government, you have to work for me."
"But you’re also a Guide, Noa-ssi. Or are you saying you want me to be a Guide for the Espers working for you?"
"Do you have experience working at a convenience store?"
"Huh?"
"I’ll hire you as a part-timer," Moon Noa said, smiling. "You see, I’m planning to open a convenience store soon."
"Soon?"
"I need to make the things I’m planning to sell first. But I can’t make those things without your help, Yuno-ya."
"My help?" Yihun asked, half-confused and half-curious. "With what?"
"Should we go home first?" Moon Noa asked. "This isn’t really the right place to talk about my job offer to you."

AS SOON as Yihun got home with Moon Noa, he found himself in the study.
It actually felt like he was a college student in a lecture room as the S-Class Guide stood next to a whiteboard while explaining things to him.
"Yuno-ya, I’m sorry to say this, but I read all your medical records from the data that we recovered from the Lab," Moon Noa said in a serious tone. "Thanks to those records, I found out that your Mana is special."
Yihun wouldn’t say that he was surprised.
Charles Kang often said I was his ’masterpiece,’ after all.
"We have more Espers than Guides in the country. That’s why many Espers lose their minds because they couldn’t get proper Guiding," Moon Noa said. "So, I started developing pills that have the same effect as Guiding. And the main ingredient is a Guide’s Mana."
Okay, now Yihun was listening properly. "A Guide’s Mana can be used like that?"
"Yes, I discovered it because I’m a genius."
Aigoo.
He didn’t want to stroke Moon Noa’s ego, so he just kept his mouth shut.
"Yihun-ah, donate your Mana to me."
"Huh?"
"In exchange, I’ll protect you from the government," Moon Noa said, smiling as if he were a conman ready to pounce on his victim. "If you contribute to this breakthrough medicine using your Mana, then I’ll insist that it’s the same as fulfilling your duty as a Guide."
Oh.
That sounded okay.
"I can do that," Yihun said while nodding. "You can take it all— my Mana, my blood, my DNA, or whatever. I’d rather donate all of that than Guide an Esper again."
