CHAPTER 278: NEW VIRUS ALERT

YUNO actually froze for a moment while thinking of how to get out of that situation quickly, but only for a moment.

He didn’t have to do everything by himself because their saviors arrived immediately.

Ki Gayoon and 17 appeared as if they were knights in shining armor.

And the two Espers moved quickly.

17 used his wind manipulation ability to push the airborne virus away from their direction.

Then Ki Gayoon quickly grabbed Yuno and Jericho before using his teleportation skill.

These two deserve their title as the strongest Espers in the world.

The next thing Yuno knew, he was already outside the tent.

He also noticed that Lee Woonhak was creating a shield that seemed different from other barriers.

I can’t pinpoint what’s different, though.

"As a Healer, Woonhak Hyung can create barriers not for protection, but to quarantine people who have been infected with any kind of disease," Kang Dabin explained when he noticed the curiosity on Yuno’s face. "It seems like Woonhak Hyung got a message from the System. Gayoon and 17, too."

Ki Gayoon nodded in confirmation. "The System said Osaki Shohei’s body had released airborne viruses."

Yuno noticed that both Moon Noa and Haru suddenly frowned after hearing that.

Well, he couldn’t blame the two.

They probably felt guilty since they wronged Osaki Shohei in some way.

Yuno’s thoughts were interrupted when 17 appeared out of thin air, clutching his neck as if he couldn’t breathe.

And 17’s Core...

Why the fuck is his Mana depleted again when I had just given him Guiding?

Almost instinctively, Yuno tried to move towards 17 and check on his condition.

But Ki Gayoon grabbed him by the wrist while shooting him a cold look.

Yuno realized that he wasn’t needed when Jericho immediately knelt beside 17, and then Jericho kissed 17 on the lips.

I don’t you should kiss a person who, obviously, can’t breathe...

But whatever.

Yuno almost laughed when Jericho voiced out what he had been thinking ever since the System gave them those Items.

The Items in question were similar to hazmat suits.

And it’s high-grade, at that.

Their hazmat suits came with a fully encapsulated chemical protective suit, positive pressure demand full-face self-contained breathing apparatus, inner and outer chemical-resistant gloves, and chemical safety boots.

According to the System, their suits could withstand chemical substances without breaking down. The System assured them that the suits were secure, and that the suits could protect them against both liquids and gases.

"Since when have Guides become doctors?" Ki Gayoon asked, frowning. "The System is asking too much from you."

Right?

"It’s alright, Gayoon Hyung," Yuno assured his lover because he didn’t want Ki Gayoon to go on a Rampage. That would only add to his workload. "I’ll just demand high-quality rewards from the System later."

Ki Gayoon was still frowning, obviously not happy.

Aigoo.

"I’ll be quick since Jericho-nim is here to help," Yuno said, and it seemed like Ki Gayoon was relieved that he wouldn’t be working alone this time. "We’ll finish quickly, so calm down and wait for me, Hyung."

Ki Gayoon sighed and nodded in the end, and then he glared at Jericho. "Don’t get too close to that man."

Aigoo.

"Don’t be ridiculous, Gayoon," 17 complained. And, yes, the #1 World Ranker had completely recovered after getting a kiss from Jericho. "My Guide only has eyes for me."

"Ignore him, 17-nim," Yuno said while walking towards the tent that was sealed with Lee Woonhak’s quarantine-like barrier. "Gayoon Hyung’s jealousy knows no bounds."

"I FEEL like I’m watching a doctor perform a heart transplant."

Right?

Yuno agreed with Jericho, but he couldn’t really talk because he was slightly nervous.

He extracted Osaki Shohei’s Core with the thick gloves he was wearing, so he was being more careful than usual.

Plus, this is genuine Core and not an artificial one.

Hence, he couldn’t be careless.

After extracting the Core that was already half-corrupted, Yuno placed it on the white cloth that the System had provided.

Everything on that table was Items sent by the System.

Gayoon Hyung was right— it’s as if the System is trying to turn us into doctors.

"Should we start, Mr. Noh?" Jericho asked while looking at Yuno straight in the eyes. "We just need to use our Mana to purify the corrupted part of this Core, right?"

"Yes, sir," Yuno said while nodding. "I wonder why the System needs two E-Class Guides to do this job."

Yuno and Jericho would find out later...

... after the two of them fainted from depleted Mana.

In short, purifying a Core corrupted by an unknown substance was not an easy job.

MOON NOA felt bad when he saw Noh Yuno and Jericho being brought out of the tent by their respective Espers earlier.

The two Guides fainted after the ’operation.’

On the other hand, he was glad that Noh Yuno and Jericho managed to save Osaki Shohei’s life.

Now the Guide was sleeping in one of the rooms in that orphanage.

"Noa-san, I know you’re worried about Yuno-kun," Haru, who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, said while looking at Moon Noa worriedly. "I’ll keep an eye on Osaki Shohei, so go ahead and check on Yuno-kun."

"Ki Gayoon is there," Moon Noa said while shaking his head. "I want to stay here and wait for Osaki Shohei to wake up. We need to ask him about how his Core got corrupted."

I have a feeling that I won’t like the answer, but I have to know.
