CHAPTER 644: YE JINGLAN’S JUDGEMENT

"You—ack!"

Ye Jinglan groaned in pain the second Luo Huian raised her foot and kicked the mer in the stomach. She hit him right where the mer had struck Nan Zhi.

"My, my. What’s the matter?" Luo Huian questioned. She tilted her head to one side and sneered at Ye Jinglan, "What happened? Didn’t you say that this little pain was something that even an infant can easily suffer? Why is it that now that it’s your turn to suffer, you cannot even stand upright? Isn’t this what you did to those kids with quite an ease?"

Ye Jinglan panted heavily; his arms were wrapped around his torso as he looked at Luo Huian with a hint of fear and anger in his eyes. He wanted to lose his temper with her but he didn’t dare to. The pain coursing through his veins was enough to make him breathe through his mouth, making it impossible for him to speak a word.

"Ah, you are angry?" Luo Huian naturally sensed the anger in the eyes of the mer. How could she not when the mer was looking at her as if he wanted to kill her for making him suffer like this? But when he was making those kids suffer, did he think about the pain that the children were suffering from when he had pressed them down under his feet as he liked and wanted?

"You should drop that gaze if you want to die painlessly," reminded Luo Huian out of the sheer kindness that she felt at that very moment. "I don’t like it when someone glares at me like that; it makes me feel like they are cursing me in their heads. It pisses me off."

When the mer didn’t move his gaze away, she raised her foot and pressed it right against the very spot where she had kicked the mer earlier.

"AHHH!!" Ye Jinglan screamed out loud in pain. The mer had never faced such a thing before; he had never been treated like this—not ever since he killed his stepmother, who had tried to ruin his life. That bitch married his father and brought back those evil little things with her. Even when those two daughters of hers forced him and tainted their relationship, which was supposed to be pure and platonic—even when those two girls sold him to the women of these villages—that woman had told him that it was his fault for being too charming.

Ever since he had freed himself of those three women, he had never suffered in pain like this ever again. Who would have thought that he would fall into the hands of a woman to suffer again? How can the heavens be so cruel?

"Ah, let me guess," Luo Huian leaned down and knotted her fingers in the hair of the mer before pulling him up from the ground. Her eyes glowing vibrantly as she stated, "You are thinking, how can the heavens be this cruel? Hmm, well the heavens were indeed cruel to you when they sent that woman and her daughters into your life. I dare not say that they were anything but cruel to you."

"You—you knew?" Ye Jinglan was so shocked that despite the pain that was surging through his body, he ended up jolting up and blurting those words out.

"Of course," Luo Huian smiled mysteriously. "I know not only the present but also the future and the past. So how can I not know what happened to you?" While Xiao Hei could see a person’s future, Xiao Bai could easily see through the past of a person. She let Luo Huian know what kind of pain and suffering Ye Jinglan had gone through, and honestly, after finding out the truth, Luo Huian only felt one thing —

Ye Jinglan was way too lame.

With the mer dangling in the air, Luo Huian said to him, "It was one thing that you suffered under them, and it was another thing that you cursed the three of them to die. After all, they did deserve it for what they did to you in a way. But why target the other women?"

"Why kill them? Did you even think about their children or families when you killed them?"

"It served them better! It’s a good thing that they died," Ye Jinglan gritted out. With his hair in her grasp, he could feel his scalp being torn out. However, he still continued to speak, "They would have made someone suffer if they had married someone else other than me. The kids would have suffered if the mer they married wasn’t me. Isn’t it better that they died before they could do that? I think I did a damn good job by making them disappear from the face of the earth."

Luo Huian listened to the chattering of the mer. Her lips curled upwards more and more, but just as Ye Jinglan thought that he had convinced her, the woman slammed him against the wall of the shack. Even though this shack was old and really dilapidated, getting smashed like that was enough to make Ye Jinglan let out a moan of pain.

If not for the fact that he didn’t feel the pain scattering all over his spine, he would have thought that Luo Huian had broken it.

"Don’t give me that bullshit," said Luo Huian. Her eyes turned brighter than the lamp that was lit up inside the shack with the curtains drawn. "You killed them because you felt fascinated. The sight of the bleeding corpses of your stepmother and sisters gave you a sense of satisfaction. A sort of power that you didn’t have over them. But do you know? In your fascination, you ended up becoming the very thing that you despised. Your father."

Ye Jinglan stiffened when he heard Luo Huian’s words. He raised his head and looked at the woman in front of him before saying to her, "No, you are wrong. My dad was not in the wrong; he never—"

"He was a coward; that was what he was," Luo Huian interrupted before saying in a low voice. "A coward who knew that his son was getting bullied, but he couldn’t do anything. Or maybe he didn’t want to do anything because he didn’t care about you enough to let go of the comfort that his wife brought him. The person you needed to despise the most was your father, Ye Jinglan. Not your stepmother, or your sisters or anyone else, as a matter of fact. You needed to hate him, but you chose to hate someone else instead of your father, and that wasn’t all; you even went ahead and targeted someone who never did anything wrong. Tell me, Ye Jinglan? What kind of judgment should I make for you?"

"Ah—Ahhh—AHHHHH!!!"

"From the locals’ testimony, Mister Ye Jinglan was found bleeding profusely by the time they found him. According to the villagers, Mister Ye Jinglan probably tried to sneak out of the village in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep. As per the reports of the villagers, there were many sightings of wild animals in the village. Something that Mister Ye Jinglan had no idea about, which led to the incident taking place."

"The villagers of Ye Village are currently giving their testimony at the police station but everyone—every single villager whom our reporters interviewed said the same thing: that he deserved what he got."

"This further strengthens the suspicions that the villagers were the ones who killed Ye Jinglan. As the families who lost their daughters in the hands of that mer, were quite furious after they found out that it was Ye Jinglan who murdered their daughters. The police suspect that this is a man-made murder, for there were no traces found of a beast. But there are no visible evidence that would prove that it was done by a human either."

Nan Zhi looked at the screen with a hint of surprise and relief on her face. She turned and looked at Qi Yongrui before saying to him, "Is it true? Does this mean that he will never bother us anymore?" Her eyes were shining as she questioned Qi Yongrui.

"That’s right." Qi Yongrui, who was peeling an apple for the two siblings paused and nodded. He looked at the video playing on the television screen. Even though the image of Ye Jinglan’s corpse had been blurred, the big mosaic was enough to show the mess that was recorded in the camera. The more he looked at the screen, the more Qi Yongrui wondered if this was truly done by an animal.

Though the death of Ye Jinglan was fair and he deserved it for killing so many people by hiding his skills as a hunter, Qi Yongrui still had this feeling that the entire situation was a bit hard to explain. After all, how could it be possible for Ye Jinglan to die at the hands of a beast without anyone finding any traces of the beast that killed it? And if it was a human who killed him how could they do it so cleaning without leaving any traces behind, unless—
