CHAPTER 646: REST WELL

"This is still not the way to act!" While Ye Shun had somewhat forgiven the doctor, Luo Qingling was nowhere close to doing it. She glared at the doctor and the nurses hiding behind him before saying to them, "My sister is the heiress of the Luo corporation; do you even realise what her worth is? How can you put her in trouble like that!? Do you even realise the consequences if something might have happened to her?"

Luo Qingling couldn’t understand what was wrong with this hospital. This hospital was funded by her guild, and she had made sure that her shares were the biggest to avoid any kind of trouble. Strictly speaking, with her position and investment, these people should have taken proper care of Luo Huian; how could they slack off like that?

"We didn’t mean to," one of the nurses realised that if they didn’t speak up now, they would end up in quite a bit of trouble. So even though he was a bit scared of Luo Qingling, he spoke truthfully, "Last night I did come here three times, but each time something happened. Like a patient would fall down and break his leg or a pregnant mer would end up going into labour right here in the hallways. It was really hectic last night; we swear we were not slacking off on purpose. It’s just that we couldn’t just ignore the patients who ended up in trouble right in front of us."

He sucked in a breath, his voice getting stronger as he continued, "And because of this reason, we ended up getting busier than we usually do. I admit that we did make a mistake and we were in the wrong, but we didn’t mean it. Please give us another chance; this – this job is my dream. I worked hard to achieve it. My family depends on me to feed them; if I get fired...then I...then I will really die."

The mer knelt in front of Luo Qingling and kowtowed right then and there. He was truly scared. This job was something he had worked hard for. For months and years, he had worked, studied and slaved himself for this job in the hope that things would get better for him.

His family depended on him, as his father was paralysed and his mother had long divorced him; his siblings and his father were all relying on him to bring money home. If he received a serious demerit and ended up getting fired for not taking care of the patient, then he would not get a job anywhere else. How would he take care of his family then? It was only now that the situation had gotten better.

If things became troublesome, then he didn’t know what to do!

When he knelt down, the others also fell to their knees and started begging. They were scared that they would be a step too late and things might get out of their control. They all worked hard to become nurses and truly didn’t mean to neglect Luo Huian. It was just that the hospital was suddenly short-staffed yesterday because of a major accident that happened on the highway.

All the nurses were pulled out of their usual tasks and put to work. That was why they ended up making this blunder, which they didn’t mean to let happen.

Luo Qingling, however, couldn’t care less about their plights. As an S-class hunter, she couldn’t believe that Luo Huian was left to suffer, but what made everything even more muddled was that Luo Huian was her obsession. Watching her lie there, knowing that she could have died today, didn’t make her feel any better. It terrified the shit out of her.

Especially when she heard Qi Yongrui say that Luo Huian was so cold last night that she looked like she was about to die. Like a corpse.

"Alright, calm down."

"Grandmother!"

Luo Qingling turned and looked at Old Madam Luo, who silenced her with a look. She said to her, "Alright, you need to calm down. I know that you are angry, but they also didn’t do it because they wanted to purposely target An An. Isn’t that right?"

The nurses all nodded at once.

"Of course, we wouldn’t dare to."

"I will never do such a despicable thing."

"This is a job I worked hard for; I wouldn’t lose it for the world."

"Hear that?" Old Madam Luo tried to inject some sense of rationality into the mind of her eldest granddaughter. "They didn’t do it because they wanted to; things happened, and last night was chaotic enough for them. There is no need for you to get them fired. A fine and an apology should be enough. At most, we will keep an eye on things; if they do this again, then we will certainly make a much stricter decision."

The nurses all turned and looked at Luo Qingling. They hoped that she would listen to Old Madam Luo’s suggestion and let them off. Even though they did do something wrong, they didn’t mean it to happen!

Luo Qingling didn’t want to agree, but she respected Old Madam Luo a lot. Thus, even though she was not willing, she had to agree with her suggestion. That was how this farce came to an end.

So, when Luo Huian woke up, she hadn’t even opened her eyes when she was suddenly surrounded by three to four nurses. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she looked at them with shock in her eyes. What? What was going on?

She looked at the nurses, and they looked right back at her.

"What—what is going on?" She asked. Her voice was as pleasant as a broken drum, but Luo Huian didn’t care about that. Who were these people, and why were they surrounding her like this? Just what in the world happened when she was unconscious?

"Miss Luo is awake! Someone call the doctors!" a nurse raised her voice and shouted, leaving Luo Huian simply befuddled. What the hell? Why was she announcing such a thing to the entire world? What in the world was even happening?

As soon as the nurse shouted, a bunch of doctors fled inside the ward as if their lives were dependent on it, and before Luo Huian could even ask what was going on, she was wheeled out of the ward and then taken to do all kinds of tests. By the time she returned, Luo Huian felt like half of her soul had flown out of her body. What the hell was that all about?

"Miss Luo is recovering well. It seems like after suffering from misfortune, her good luck is finally knocking on her door. It seems like she is finally getting better. This is good news!"

Luo Qingling heaved a sigh of relief when she heard that, and so did the rest of the Luo family members. Qi Yongrui and Fan Meilin had a relieved expression on their faces, and even Liao Liqin, who always had a stoic expression, showed some relief upon hearing this.

"What’s going on?" Luo Huian didn’t recall anything that happened last night. All she remembered was using the little bit of spiritual energy to deal with Ye Jinglan, and when she returned, what happened then?

This was something that confused her.

Qi Yongrui listened to her words and gave a bitter laugh. "You really know how to worry us. Do you even know how much you have made us all suffer? You were having a heart attack last night, and if I hadn’t come to look for you, do you even know what might have happened? You should at least press the button for emergency when you are in trouble, you know?"

"Ah, did that happen?" Luo Huian frowned.

Luo Huian had never expected that pushing herself a little more would end with a heart attack. She could only comfort the rest of the family. "It’s alright; as long as I am alive, everything is fine."

She didn’t know whether it was because they hadn’t slept all night or because they had a hard time yesterday, but the second she uttered those careless words, they all turned and glared at her as if she had said something wrong.

Touching her nose guiltily, she said to her family, "You all look tired; why don’t you go and take some rest?"

"We are fine." Ye Shun walked over and started fussing over his daughter. He wanted to tell his daughter to stop going out and hunt Glooms and Hollows down, but he knew that Luo Huian was a big girl and could make the decision on her own. He couldn’t make the decision for her. Sighing, he could only do what he could.

"You should be the one taking some rest. I will go and prepare some chicken soup for you. the doctors say that you have grown weak; it’s better if you listen to your dad and rest well—"

"Miss Luo?"
