Chapter 652: Fan Meilin: My Secret is About to Blow

“Is he alright?” Luo Huian asked Doctor Si, whom she had dragged out of his office when he was resting.

Doctor Si sighed exasperatedly. He turned and looked at Luo Huian, who was sitting in the resting area. Trying to suppress the annoyance that he was feeling at the moment, he said to Luo Huian, “Honestly, Huian. You really need to calm down and listen when someone is talking to you. Did you hear a thing that I said to you? Your husband is fine. The wounds are superficial, and other than that, he is completely fine. If you don’t believe me, you can ask him.”

After speaking, he turned to look at Fan Meilin, who nodded at Luo Huian. “I am fine, Huian. There is no need for you to worry about me. I feel fine after applying the ointment on my wounds.” Fan Meilin didn’t want to come to the special hospital arranged for the hunters and their families, but Luo Huian didn’t listen to a thing and dragged him to the hospital and even demanded that Doctor Si take care of him. If not for the fact that it was too late for him to escape, he would have turned around and walked right away.

Luo Huian frowned and pointed at the swelling of his jaw. “Then why is his jaw swelling like this?”

“It’s nothing but some skin trauma; the woman who tried to attack him used a lot of strength, which is why his skin flared up like this. Don’t forget that mers are more delicate than we women. It’s not a surprise that he is in a situation like this.”

Luo Huian sneered, “It’s not me who forgot, but some stupid arsehole.” When she thought of how that woman tried to hurt her husband, and even succeeded. If not for Xiao Hei keeping track of him, she really wished she could kill Liao Hong.

It was my fault; I should have killed her when I had the chance. Now I don’t even know if I will get another chance or not, thought Luo Huian angrily.

Maybe Doctor Si noticed there was something wrong with her expression and immediately comforted her, “There is no need to lose your temper over this. Even though what the woman did was not correct, at least your husband is alright. Look at the bright side.”

He then turned to look at Fan Meilin and stared at him pointedly.

Fan Meilin also cottoned on to what the man was trying to tell him. He immediately turned to look at his wife and nodded at her, “That’s right. I am fine and that is the only thing that matters, right?”

Luo Huian turned and looked at the mer who was nervously sweating while looking at her. Seeing the nervousness of the mer, she shook her head and sighed. Her lips almost curled into a doting smile. “Alright, since you have no troubles, then we can go back home.”

Hearing her response, Doctor Si and Fan Meilin heaved a sigh of relief. Just now, they were worried that Luo Huian was going to rush out and fight Liao Hong to the death.

The two of them were not wrong; Luo Huian really wanted to do that. She hated Liao Hong enough to watch that woman slowly bleed to death but she was holding herself back because she didn’t want that woman to cause trouble for her but Liao Hong was like a damn pest who couldn’t understand the kindness that Luo Huian was showing to her.

Damn that dumb woman; she should be glad that I am not running after her with a knife and yet she dares to cause trouble for me and my husband all the time.

Luo Huian took Fan Meilin away and Doctor Si went pliant in the chair on which he was sitting. Dragging his hands over his face, he winced. “I have a feeling that the upcoming days will not be easy for me. Shall I retire?” But as soon as that thought came to his head, he thought of the good things his leader would do to him if he left the hospital. Doctor Si shuddered, feeling like it was not worth it.

Luo Huian would at most bother him. But if he dared to retire, Luo Qingling would bury him alive in the ground—after all, he hadn’t even repaid her half of what he owed her.

On the other side, Luo Huian supported Fan Meilin and led him to the parking lot. She didn’t pursue him for answers; instead, she glanced at the mer beside her and asked him, “Are you feeling alright? If you are not feeling okay, then we can stay the night at the hospital, you know?”

“I am fine,” Fan Meilin smiled at his wife. “I am not feeling jittery or hurt. Just a bit tired, I just want to go home and take—” He was still speaking when he raised his head and saw someone. His smile went missing at once, something that Luo Huian noticed. She turned and followed his line of sight and when she saw the pretty mer standing on the side of the parking lot, she raised a brow.

Well, the mer was quite beautiful and it would have been better if he was not frowning hard as if he was smelling something really disgusting.

He stepped forward and Fan Meilin stiffened.

“Huian, I—”

“Miss Luo,” Cao Xueping came to a stop in front of Luo Huian and stared at her with a look that meant business. “Can I talk to you?”

Luo Huian curled her lips in a soft smile and it dazzled Cao Xueping for a few seconds but at the same time he felt angry and envious of Fan Meilin. This mer was ruined to bits but he still had a loving wife who cared for him and respected him well enough to protect him. He had heard all about how Luo Huian took a stand for Fan Meilin in front of Liao Hong and even beat her up for the sake of her husband—and when he thought about how Luo Huian was running high and low to protect her husband while his wife was going after another mer and trying to corner him by throwing his face on the ground and stomping on it hard, he felt a hatred like never before.

He glanced at Fan Meilin, whose face had turned pale and curled his lips in satisfaction. That was right; if he wouldn’t let him live in peace, then he too wouldn’t let this mer live in peace!

Luo Huian arched a brow when she noticed the anger and contempt that Cao Xueping had for her husband. She patted Fan Meilin on the back and said to him, “You can go back to the car. Tonight’s ordeal has been hard on you. You should rest a bit more.”

“No, Huian. Listen, I–” Fan Meilin spoke up at once; he was worried that Cao Xueping would tell Luo Huian something that she wouldn’t like and she would start hating on him. But before he could say anything, Luo Huian raised her hand and patted him on the head. She said to him, “Alright, calm down. I know that you are worried but there is no need for you to feel afraid. You haven’t done anything to me. Your past has nothing to do with me.”

Fan Meilin’s eyes widened slightly when he heard Luo Huian’s comments; it seemed like she was telling him to not worry about what Cao Xueping might tell her regarding him. But – but what if he told her that he couldn’t have a child? Then what would he do? Fan Meilin wanted to confess the truth to his wife in the heat of the moment.

But before he could do that, Luo Huian turned and looked at Bai Shiliu. She said to her, “Go and take him to the car. Let him take a little nap or snack on something. I think there are a few chips or colas in the fridge.”

“Alright.” Bai Shiliu agreed and then took Fan Meilin away, but as soon as he turned around, Fan Meilin turned and looked at Bai Shiliu. “I can’t. If he tells her the truth, I am finished.” The secret that he had been hiding for so long could ruin everything; he finally got the happiness that he wanted and deserved, how could he let Cao Xueping ruin it all?

Bai Shiliu glanced down at the mer who was scared out of his wits and simply asked, “Do you trust Luo Huian?”

Startled Fan Meilin frowned and nodded. “Of course, I do trust her.”

“Then you should leave this matter in her hands,” continued Bai Shiliu as she continued ushering him to the car. “Because you can hide this secret of yours from her tonight, but can you hide it forever? If you can, then I will let you go, and you can do whatever you want to stop that mer from speaking to Luo Huian.”
