Chapter 654: Cao Xueping’s Regret

“Oh?” Luo Huian arched a brow. “You mean to say that your wife is innocent?”

Cao Xueping felt a flicker of worry, but he still nodded and stated in a cold yet firm voice, “She is indeed innocent. I don’t know what your husband might have told you, but she is not someone who would do anyone any wrong.” He lowered his head and stated quietly, “It was Fan Meilin who seduced her tonight; she didn’t want to be involved with me, you see? After all, she is married to me. The Fan family can never amount to the Cao family. So, unless my wife is an idiot, she will never slap me on the face.”

“I see.” Luo Huian tilted her head to one side. With amusement flickering in her eyes, she said to the mer, “Then did she feed him that abortion medicine after asking you?”

The second she finished speaking, the mer who was looking at his shoes snapped his head up. “What?”

“You heard me,” Luo Huian leaned forward until her face was an inch away from Cao Xueping; though her actions were fluid and elegant, it made the mer stiffen. He stared at the woman with a feeling of dread climbing up his spine. He came looking for Luo Huian, thinking that the woman knew nothing about Fan Meilin and Liao Hong. That way, he could have easily fooled the woman into believing what he was going to tell her, but—

“You know?” Cao Xueping was stunned. He thought that Luo Huian had no idea what had happened between Fan Meilin and Liao Hong. But given that the woman was aware of everything that happened between them, what was he going to use against Fan Meilin? No, he couldn’t allow that mer to live a prosperous life. That shameless mer didn’t even know when to step away from his wife, much less give him peace. How could he just leave him be?

Cao Xueping sucked in a breath. “It wasn’t her fault. I don’t know what Miss Luo Huian knows. But I assure you that it’s not what you think. My wife did nothing; it was Fan Meilin. Yeah, it was him who did it. He was just a bedmate of my wife, but he tried to overstep his boundaries by trying to get involved with my wife, when he shouldn’t have.” He tucked a strand of his hair behind him and then continued, “Fan Meilin was the one who tried to get involved with my wife even when the terms of their relationship had already been established. He wanted to trap my wife —by having a baby, and when he couldn’t do that, he turned around and threw himself in your arms.”

Luo Huian listened to the mer. Her eyes continued to flicker as she took in the lies that Cao Xueping was telling her.

Xiao Hei, who was listening to the lies beside her, was stumped. He bristled. “That’s not what happened!”

“That’s right!” Xiao Bai, who could see the past, immediately agreed with Xiao Hei. She glared at the mer and stated in a cold voice, “This mer is really cruel. He was the one who pushed his mother into making sure that Fan Meilin would be fed a pill that would make him lose not only his child but also the ability to become a father; how dare he say that he didn’t do anything? He was the one who told Liao Hong that if she didn’t give that pill to Fan Meilin, then their family would pull away the investment.”

“How dare he say that he didn’t do anything wrong? And put all the blame on Fan Meilin? Shameless! Ah, truly shameless!”

Xiao Bai was angry and Xiao Hei was also just as upset.

Luo Huian was the only one who was rather calm. She smiled at the mer who was speaking to her and stated, “Do you know Master Cao? I have a really great skill. Do you know what that skill is?”

Cao Xueping raised his head and looked at Luo Huian. He had a feeling that whatever skill this was, it was nothing good. However, he still blinked his eyes and asked, “What kind of skill?”

“The skill to see a person’s past and future.” Luo Huian stated. Her lips curled up when she saw the mer go rigid. “I know what you did, and I know what you will face in the future. And you know what is going to happen to you?” When the mer didn’t say anything, Luo Huian simply went on with her hands in her pockets. “You will be losing your life – not literally but in the same manner Meilin did. You and your wife killed an innocent life. What do you think would be the correct punishment for it? If I were you, I would go back home and check up on your son—maybe you might be able to save yourself a heartbreak.”

She then turned around on her feet and walked away, leaving Cao Xueping to stare at her in shock. He didn’t understand what Luo Huian meant by those words but at the same time, he didn’t dare to ignore her warning. He turned around on his feet and ran toward his car.

“Master?” The driver and the bodyguards who were waiting for Cao Xueping to return were stunned when they saw him.

“Go back home,” Cao Xueping said to the driver as he jumped up in the car and then started calling the nanny who was responsible for taking care of his son. However, when the mer didn’t pick up, he frowned hard and called the wife of the mer, if that mer was not picking up, then his wife certainly would. However, for some reason, even that woman didn’t pick up his call, which made him even more worried. He turned to his bodyguards and said to them, “Quick, bring me back home. I think something happened!”

While Cao Xueping hurried back home, Luo Huian returned to the car where Bai Shiliu and Fan Meilin were waiting for her. When she saw Fan Meilin staring at her with eyes as red as that of a rabbit, she couldn’t help but frown hard. “How ugly. Why did you start crying all of a sudden? Does something hurts?”

“What she wants to say is that her heart hurts when you are crying like that, so don’t cry. If you are feeling hurt, just tell her, and she can take you to the hospital. What is the point of shedding your precious tears over something so simple?” Bai Shiliu chimed up from the side and Luo Huian raised her head to glare at the woman who was sitting next to Fan Meilin.

“No one will think of you as a mute if you do not speak.”

“I know, but someone doesn’t know how to speak, what am I supposed to do? You want to speak softly, but you end up speaking harshly. What can we do about this?” Bai Shiliu snorted. “I just helped you a little by telling your husband what you want to say. If not, you will end up making him cry even further.”

Fan Meilin, who was indeed close to crying, ended up bursting out into a fit of giggles when he saw the expression on the face of his wife, she looked like she had seen a big, fat rat in the car. Her face was full of disgust but he could also see some helplessness on her face.

“I am sorry”, Fan Meilin wiped the corner of his eyes and said softly, “I was worried that Cao Xueping would say some kind of nonsense to you, which might make you upset. What did he say?”

“Nothing.” Luo Huian glanced at the mer and got to the driver’s seat just as Bai Shiliu got into the passenger seat. Since Fan Meilin was not ready to tell her about what happened between him and Liao Hong, she was not going to breathe a word about knowing everything that happened to him. “It seems like something happened to his son and he left in a hurry.”

“His son?” Fan Meilin was stunned. As far as he knew, Cao Xueping only had one mer son and he treated that child like his little treasure. How could something happen to that child whom he treated like a piece of his soul?

He frowned and asked, “Did you hear what happened to that child?”

“Ah,” Luo Huian curled her lips as she tapped the steering wheel. “Something that would make that mer regret for all his life.” Regret that he had killed Fan Meilin’s child and didn’t allow that child to be born.

“What do you mean? You mean to say that without matching bone marrow, you cannot do anything?” Cao Xueping almost went crazy when he heard the doctors say that there was little to be done with his child’s condition being so serious.
