Chapter 657: Fan Meilin: This old woman has lost it

Fan Meilin frowned. He looked at the woman as anger flashed in his eyes. He hadn’t been bothering Liao Hong ever since he got married. Even when Luo Huian had called him all kinds of names for having a relationship with another woman before marriage, he had heard them all. But not once did he ask Liao Hong to take him away from the Luo family. He would rather submit to the suppression and the disregard than cling to that woman.

“You should divorce Luo Huian. Even though you are married, I am willing to let you get married to Ah Hong.”

When did he say that he wanted to marry Liao Hong? Did he ever slip such a thing out after he lost his child? He was quite certain that he didn’t. His frown deepened, and he looked at Madam Liao, who was still speaking, “I know that your wife will not be willing to let you go because of the contractual marriage that the two of you had, but as long as you are willing to divorce her, I will arrange something for you. After all, no woman would like to marry a mer who has affairs with another woman. You don’t have to worry about something so simple as that; all you need is to file for divorce and announce that Luo Huian is tormenting you; that way, you will be able to kick her out.”

Madam Liao naturally didn’t want this mer to be married to her family. Even if Fan Meilin was a skilled racer of her own company and he had brought quite a lot of fame to their company, she still looked down on him. As a woman with an old school’s point of view, she simply didn’t like the idea of Fan Meilin sleeping with her daughter before marriage and even getting pregnant. What was more, the mer didn’t have a good background. Even though the Fan family had made a comeback after the marriage alliance with the Luo family, Madam Liao knew that it was all thanks to Luo Yeqing helping her in-laws.

If the Fan family went against the Luo family, their glory would be short-lived. But what could she do? Liao Hong was simply acting like a beast. Last night, after her grandson fell sick, Cao Xueping came to look for her. He knelt down and begged her, saying that he was not getting a matching sample of bone marrow. All the lists were already made, and the one with the matching sample belonged to a family they couldn’t offend, which left him with only one choice—having another child with Liao Hong.

But Liao Hong refused! She simply placed her stance in front of Cao Xueping. Unless she was allowed to marry Fan Meilin, she would not have a child with him. Cao Xueping hated Fan Meilin just as much as Madam Liao, but he loved his child way too much to agree to this request of his wife. As long as he could save the child, he was willing to do anything.

That was the only reason why Madam Liao agreed to bring this mer to her family. Anyway, there was no need for her to worry about anything. Fan Meilin was just a little mer. Once he married into her family, she would make sure that he would not be able to live for long. It would be better if he died a slow, painful death, such that Liao Hong would understand what the consequences of going against her were.

However, Madam Liao thought too much. Fan Meilin had no intention to get married to Liao Hong and nor did Fan Meilin want to stay quiet. He blinked his eyes and then looked at the old woman in front of him. He said to her, “I think there is some kind of misunderstanding. I do not wish to divorce my wife or marry someone else. My wife treats me really well, and she is doing everything in her power to make me happy. Why will I divorce her if she is treating me well? I am not a bastard who would bite the hand that feeds me.”

“You–” Madam Liao raised her voice, intending to scold Fan Meilin, but she was stopped by Su Daji, who leaned forward and whispered something in her ear. When Madam Liao heard what Su Daji said to her, her expression changed again and again, and she looked at Fan Meilin with some annoyance on her face. She called the mer, thinking that she would be able to convince him to marry her daughter without any fuss, but it turned out that his relationship with his wife had gotten better. No wonder this mer looked more confident than he did before.

In the past, he always had this air of gloom around him, but now he looked happy, like he was happy with his life.

“Fan Meilin, think about it again—”

“I have thought it through,” Fan Meilin said with a firm tone. “My wife loves me and cares for me. We are living a good married life, and I have no complaints from her. Why would I divorce her for no reason? Or does Madam Liao think that I have gotten used to getting an abortion all the time?”

Madam Liao’s face flushed red. She raised her head and glared at the mer who simply smiled at her. He didn’t say anything, but he didn’t break down either. He was not going to let Madam Liao suppress him like she did in the past. He was not a fool since something happened to Cao Xueping’s child; Liao Hong must have made some sort of deal with her mother, or else she wouldn’t have called him. While Fan Meilin felt sympathy for the child, he looked down at Liao Hong as well. That woman was too much.

How could she even think of using the life and death of her son to marry him?

She is still the same. Ruthless through and through. For the sake of getting what she wanted, she wouldn’t even leave her son off.

“Fan Meilin—”

“Madam Liao.” Fan Meilin tucked a strand of his hair back and leaned back like a rogue. He said to her, “I have no more feelings for your daughter. I don’t know what kind of deal she made with you, nor am I curious to know. I will tell you something today. I have no intention of marrying your daughter, nor am I going to divorce my wife.” he curled his lips and stated, “And why would I marry your daughter, who would use the life of her own son to get what she wants? I might be many things. But I am not a fool.”

“Watch that tongue of yours—”

Madam Liao jumped to her feet and was about to say something even harsher when Fan Meilin’s phone started to ring. He took out his phone and looked down at the name of the caller. As soon as he saw who it was, his eyes softened, and he picked up the call without caring about Madam Liao’s face. Heh, what a joke. The woman was speaking nonsense to him, and he needed to show her his respect? Like hell he would!

“Hello, Huian?”

Madam Liao stiffened when she heard the voice of Luo Huian. Even though she had no intention to target the Luo family at the moment, she was worried that Luo Huian might start a business war with her if Fan Meilin were to tell the truth to Luo Huian. In fact, she thought too much. Fan Meilin had no intention of telling anything to his wife. The two of them had planned a nice, cosy dinner with her and didn’t want to ruin it because of someone like Madam Liao.

“I am standing downstairs. Are you free now? Or do you need me to come upstairs and pick you up?” Luo Huian didn’t lower her voice and spoke in a steady and firm voice, loud enough for Madam Liao to hear.

Fan Meilin raised his head and looked at the woman whose face had turned paler than the moon and chuckled softly. He said to his wife, “No, I am done here. I will be coming downstairs in a while. You don’t need to come up.”

Turning around to look at Madam Liao as he ended the call. He said to her, “Is there something else that you would like to say to me?”

“Nothing”, like she could say anything with that woman standing downstairs like a door god!

Madam Liao stared at the mer like she wished to skin him alive, but she held back because she knew that if she made a move, Luo Huian would certainly deal with the Liao family.
