CHAPTER 105: RUAN ZEQIU: THEY SAY YOU ARE A WITCH

Ruan Chanchan glanced at the system. She half believed his words because even if Xiao Xi had let her down countless times, there were times when the system had helped her out of a pinch. After a quick pondering, she decided to buy the cheapest pack and left the rest for later. Ruan Chanchan was not preparing to join the processing team for the time being. She only wanted some fresh hide she could use to make bandages!

This pack should be enough for that for the time being.

Ding Dong.

Have a pleasant day!

The announcement had hardly finished ringing in her head, and Ruan Chanchan felt something knock right into her head. Instinctively, she threw her head back and stared at the ceiling of the cave as all sorts of information regarding butchering a beast and animal, along with skinning the hide, flooded into her mind. The information was too much and Ruan Chanchan felt nauseous.

Yue!

"Sister!" Ruan Zeqiu turned to look at Ruan Chanchan. He just returned after sending Nan Zhi and Xie Daiyu away when he heard his sister dry heaving; he rushed to crouch down next to her and shook her lightly. "Sister, are you alright?"

Ruan Chanchan raised her hand and waved it weakly. "I am fine." This feeling... it was really bad! She wondered if she would be able to get used to it, like, ever! She didn’t know how it felt when one felt their brain getting overheated, but if there was a word to describe that feeling, then that word could certainly explain what she was feeling at the moment!

She covered her eyes with her palm and breathed in heavily.

The nausea that kept rising and falling finally eased a little, and she dropped her hand to her side. Finally, when the feeling that made her want to hurl everything, including her stomach, subsided, Ruan Chanchan closed her eyes and heaved a sigh of relief. She turned to look at Ruan Zeqiu, who looked worried and smiled at him. "Let’s go and eat something until Xia Daiyu comes back."

"Are we going to eat meat?" Ruan Zeqiu’s eyes lit up. When he recalled the taste of the cooked meat, his mouth couldn’t help but water.

Ruan Chanchan’s lips twitched when she heard the response of the little mer. She said to him, "What else do we have other than meat?" There were some flaming fruits as well, but other than that, were there any other options?

Ruan Zeqiu flashed her a sheepish smile. "Sister, you are blessed by the beast goddess; can’t you ask her to gift you with something that only the immortals eat?" Ruan Zeqiu licked his lips in anticipation. Since his sister could make something as delicious as cooked meat, maybe she could also make something even more delicious?

When Ruan Chanchan heard his request, she paused in her actions. She recalled the instant porridge packets along with the canned meat that was stored in her supermarket.

She turned to look at the little mer and asked, "Do you want to eat something other than meat?" Ruan Chanchan also felt sorry for her brother, who always had to eat meat all the time and couldn’t eat anything other than roasted meat with little to no salt. Compared to eating just meat, it was better to have something else for a change. Of course, Ruan Chanchan knew that this was how these beast mers lived; she felt sorry for herself. As a modern person, she just couldn’t get used to eating roasted meat with no soy sauce or any other condiments.

Just salt was not enough for her.

"You can cook something other than meat, sister?" Ruan Zeqiu’s eyes lit up when he heard Ruan Chanchan say that they could eat something other than meat.

Ruan Chanchan simply nodded and asked him to go and bring some water from the river. Since his sister was going to give him the food from the lands of the immortals, Ruan Zeqiu didn’t say anything and naturally performed the duty that was given to him conscientiously.

When the mer left the cave, Ruan Chanchan took out the packages of instant porridge and some canned beef and salmon. She had been eating instant noodles for quite some time along with roasted meat and egg; this time around she wanted something more filling yet nutritious.

She had finally managed to open up the packages when she heard Ruan Zeqiu running up the cave; his eyes were shining with glee. He exclaimed, "Sister, look, I brought the cleanest water that I could find in the river."

"Let me handle the cooking. We will have some porridge today." Ruan Chanchan took the water bowl from the mer and then placed it on top of the stove that she had made.

Ruan Zeqiu sat down quietly beside her. But the mer’s personality was bubbly and he couldn’t stay quiet for long. He snuck close to his sister and then started speaking in a jolly voice, "Sister, you don’t know the people in the tribe keep making rumours about you." His expression was quite sullen when he thought about the whispers of the mers who were speaking badly about Ruan Chanchan on the river shore.

"Oh? What were they talking about?" Ruan Chanchan asked calmly as she poured the grains of rice along in the bubbling water. She watched the rice cook while waiting for Ruan Zeqiu to speak. The mer didn’t want to tell the harsh words of the tribe members but he also didn’t want Ruan Chanchan to be hurt by the words of those people. So he told the truth. "They said that you are a witch and you used to worship the Dark Shaman... they even said that you were no fool but were just pretending to be one."
