Guide To Train My Beast Husbands
Chapter 159: Stop With the Lies
CHAPTER 159: STOP WITH THE LIES
Ruan Chanchan was stupefied when she heard Elder Lin call her a jinx. She wanted to say something, but everything happened so suddenly that Ruan Chanchan didn’t know what to make of the situation.
"Is she talking about me?" Ruan Chanchan pointed to herself and questioned Nan Wu in a low voice. A part of her knew that Elder Lin was talking to her, but at the same time, she couldn’t understand why the woman was calling her a jinx. She had done nothing of the sort that would make someone call her a jinx. Did she even do anything? She didn’t think so.
Nan Wu blinked her eyes, and after a short pause, she stiffly nodded. "I think so...?"
The two exchanged a look with one another; neither of them knew what was going on, so they could only wait for Elder Lin to continue speaking. Since she was the one who claimed that Ruan Chanchan was a jinx, she was the only one who could tell them how and why Ruan Chanchan was a jinx.
Chief Xie also hurried out of her cave when she heard the commotion. At first, she didn’t understand what was going on; she had just called a few of the elderly to come and see her in the cave when she heard the sound of someone crying, followed by Elder Lin yelling at the top of her lungs. At first, she didn’t understand what was going on, but then she heard the word ’jinx’ and she caught a grasp of the situation at once.
Her expression darkened as she turned to look at the elderly who followed her out of the cave. "You all go back to your caves; I will discuss the matter of making jerky with you later on." She had not even started telling these elderly mers how to make jerky when things started to spiral out of control.
The elderly mers turned to look at one another and nodded before taking their leave. Though they felt a bit disappointed, as they came here filled with expectations, thinking that they would be able to get a job that would provide them with meat every day. Of course, Chief Xie could also notice this, but she couldn’t do anything at the moment. She had other tasks that she needed to deal with!
She jumped off the edge of the trail and landed on her two feet. Dust billowed around her figure as soon as she landed on the ground. Her eyes flashed with a hint of annoyance as she looked at the crowd that had gathered in the middle of the gathering area. She glanced at the members of the tribe before saying to them, "What are you all doing here? Why haven’t you brought her to the burial grounds?"
As she spoke, she looked at the elders who were staring at her with a hint of proactive looks in their eyes; seeing this, Chief Xie closed her eyes and tried to calm down her erratic breathing. She was furious, but she didn’t say anything. Instead, she lowered her head and glanced at Priestess Yuan, who was looking at Elder Lin as if she had personally insulted her. "What happened?"
"Nothing. Just sheer foolishness," snapped Priestess Yuan with a hint of anger in her tone. "The black snake tribe dumped this body outside the territory line, and for some very bizarre reason that I cannot fathom, Elder Lin believes that this is connected to Ruan Chanchan. I really want to question her myself about why she thinks that such a thing is possible. Because neither did Ruan Chanchan run away from the fight like some cowardly children of a few people here, nor did she kill this young girl. So how come this matter is related to her?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Elder Lin’s face flushed red in shame because she knew that she was the one being mocked, as her daughter ran away to save her life the last time the black snake tribe attacked their tribe. She wanted to retort, but held back.
"Is it? As far as I know, ever since Ruan Chanchan awakened, one thing after another keeps happening. First, Ah Yan was injured, and then Nan Wu and the team were attacked. Are you still going to say that she is not a jinx?" Elder Lin was determined to drive Ruan Chanchan out of the tribe. She knew that Ruan Chanchan was no real threat to her, but she just couldn’t accept the importance that Chief Xie was giving Ruan Chanchan. It should belong to her and the rest of the elders, and no one else. Especially not a woman who had been a fool all her life.
Her daughter was still waiting for her to bring in some benefits for her; how could she let Ruan Chanchan jump the line?
Ruan Chanchan was speechless when she heard the response of Elder Lin, but at the same time, she somewhat understood the gravity of her situation and plight. Fortunately, she got together with Xie Daiyu. Even though the two of them were not together in a true sense, at least she had the Xie family as her backing, or else she would be in a lot of trouble.
"What nonsense?" Priestess Yuan spat on the ground. "These things have happened many times in the past. Why is it that suddenly the blame is being pushed on top of Ruan Chanchan’s head? Who are you trying to fool?" priestess Yuan didn’t like how the elders were trying to twist the truth around to suit themselves. She glared at Elder Lin and questioned, "How many totem warriors were killed by the black snake tribe in the past? How many of the totem warriors were captured and made into slaves? Why is it that I never saw your blood boil back then? Why did you run away?"
Priestess Yuan questioned, her voice rising passionately with each syllable that she uttered.
