Guide To Train My Beast Husbands
Chapter 164: Earn a fortune without being caught
CHAPTER 164: EARN A FORTUNE WITHOUT BEING CAUGHT
"If we don’t rely on hunting, then it is simply impossible for us to eat meat," said Xie Daiyu with a stiff expression. He had his own doubts, but he knew that Ruan Chanchan must have her reasons for saying these things to him. So he silently waited for her to speak.
Ruan Chanchan wanted to explain the matter of raising beasts, but she knew that Xie Daiyu would not be able to understand it at the moment. What was more, this terrain was not good enough for them to raise beasts as livestock. The space was too small. So, she simply changed the topic. "Do you know about linen?"
"What’s linen?" Xie Daiyu frowned with a little furrow between his brows. Why was it getting harder and harder to understand his destined one? The words that she used were simply out of this world.
When Ruan Chanchan heard his response, her eyes turned bright.
The corner of her mouth lifted, and she guessed that linen was not a thing in this world. Excellent, she had linen, spirit dew and instant noodles. If she was not wrong, then she had all the resources to build this tribe brick by brick. She considered that making use of food was the fastest way for her to make her products more popular, and as long as she produced a speciality of the tribe, she was bound to make a fortune.
She continued asking while moving her weight to her right knee and rubbing her left one, "I meant to ask if there is a tribe that specialises in clothes?"
"There is one," replied Xie Daiyu promptly. "The White Sheep Tribe is the one who often trades clothes in the beast market." He paused and then added, "But it’s really hard to buy even a single piece of clothing. I once went to the beast market with my mother and witnessed it with my own eyes. The stall of the White Sheep tribe is bigger than most, and they only sell a few pieces of clothing, and each time it is sold out as soon as it is brought up." Xie Daiyu still remembered the bitter past experiences. His tribe was weaker and poorer than the tribes to whom the white sheep tribe catered; thus, they had often mocked him for looking at something that he could never get. "There was a time when my mother wanted to buy the clothes made by the white sheep tribe, but the meat that we brought was too little and the coins were not enough. Thus, we couldn’t even compete with other tribes."
"How much meat and coins can be exchanged for one roll of cloth?" Ruan Chanchan asked curiously.
"At least three pots of meat and a hundred bone coins," replied Xie Daiyu with a look of heartache on his face.
"Three pots!?" Ruan Chanchan was a bit dazed. She had no idea what the value of this much meat and coins was, but she had a feeling that it was a lot.
"That was the price of the piece of clothing set by the White Sheep Tribe; they are the ones who make the decision. If they want, then they can increase the price of the piece of clothing; the last decision lies with them. We only find out the price after we go to the market, as they don’t release the information regarding the price before that."
In the past, he went to the market and saw how the White Sheep Tribe sold their piece of clothing made from the fur of the sheep beast women. As they shed their wool every six months in a year, these pieces of clothing were really rare and expensive. The tribes would willingly take out as much money and meat as possible. These pieces of clothing were, after all, not just clothes; they were a means for other tribes to prove that they were above other tribes.
"Then what were the sizes of the pots that they took last time?" asked Ruan Chanchan with a frown on her face. She needed to understand such things before she headed over to the beast market, after all, she wasn’t too clear about the details of the trade.
"One pot might be as big as your size," Xie Daiyu looked at Ruan Chanchan, who was kneeling and did a quick scan before nodding to himself.
"So, you mean to say that the pot is actually as big as five feet tall?" After Ruan Chanchan finished calculating, her expression shifted. She was small, considering the other women were more than six feet tall. She pursed her lips and then asked, "Then how about the length of the piece of wool?"
"It’s seven and a half knots long." Realising that Ruan Chanchan was really interested in the clothes that the white sheep tribe made, he could only relay everything that he knew. "The White sheep tribe uses the strips of grass to make the measurements, and they usually take out wool according to the four knotted pieces of grass, along with three other knots. "A single knot will be as big as this stick."
He pointed at a piece of wood lying on the ground, and Ruan Chanchan frowned.
It was only one metre, which meant that the white sheep tribe actually sold the wool at a ridiculous price. The more she thought about it, the more Ruan Chanchan realised that this business was really good. Thinking about it, she could easily sell the instant noodles at the price of one pot of meat, along with one hundred coins.
She wanted to sell linen, but Ruan Chanchan knew that her tribe was still too weak; if she clashed with the larger and stronger tribes, then she might end up causing trouble for herself. In fact, she also needed to pay attention while selling instant noodles.
"Looks like I have to make a fortune quietly without attracting the attention of the other tribes," mused Ruan Chanchan.
