CHAPTER 170: NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED (II)

What Ruan Chanchan didn’t know was that mers and males didn’t allow just about anyone to climb on their backs and ride them; only the woman whom they had chosen as mates was allowed to climb on top of them. Ruan Chanchan was, of course, unaware of this or else she wouldn’t have sat on Xie Daiyu. She would have rather walked, but Xie Daiyu was not complaining. With Ruan Chanchan sitting down on his back, even if she wanted to back down in the future from becoming his mate, she might not be able to do so.

When Chief Xie saw Xie Daiyu taking Ruan Chanchan along with him, she was really happy. She had been worried about Ruan Chanchan and Xie Daiyu, as she knew that even though Ruan Chanchan could not transform into her beast form, she was blessed by the beast goddess. With this point alone, Ruan Chanchan was in another league!

Fortunately, her son was smart enough and clung onto Ruan Chanchan, because if Ruan Chanchan was snatched by some other mer from some other tribe, they wouldn’t even have the time to cry! Finally, her son had grown up, so she doesn’t have to worry about him anymore. Ruan Chanchan was a smart woman; she knew how to collect new food and was skilled in cooking and making fire, thus, she should treat her son well.

Chief Xie was not worried, but Priestess Yuan was worried out of her mind. She turned and looked at her grandson, who was still hanging around Shao Xia, and could see the dark, smoky fumes around him. Seeing those fumes, Priestess Yuan couldn’t help but get worried. She knew that her grandson was in danger, but at the same time, she knew that there was nothing she could do for him.

This was his own decision, and unless he was willing to free himself from Shao Xia, these karmic debts would follow him. Every action had an equal and opposite reaction. When Priestess Yuan thought about how Yuan Ni had lost himself and had gone to Shao Xia despite having such an excellent destined one as Ruan Chanchan, she felt depressed, but there were certain things that she couldn’t tell her grandson.

Sighing, the priestess turned on her feet and then went back to her cave. She had a feeling that her days were going to be filled with storm and strife.

Ruan Chanchan and Xie Daiyu were unaware of this. They were currently standing in a bamboo grove and looking at the countless bamboos whose appearance was different from the bamboos in her world. Ruan Chanchan was quite excited. Why? Because these bamboos actually have resistance abilities! This means that these bamboos could be used to make shields and armour. Though the beast world people don’t need it, it could be useful for people like her or people from the other dimensions.

Ruan Chanchan was very excited, as she knew that these things were not only good for making shields but also for making good food. She said to Xie Daiyu, "You see those bamboo shoots, pull them out. They taste delicious when cooked." Anyway, bamboo shoots could grow back in a matter of a few days; thus, Ruan Chanchan was not worried.

When Xie Daiyu heard that these things could be eaten, he bent down and started to collect the bamboo shoots. In a few minutes, they collected a lot of bamboo shoots. Ruan Chanchan peeled the bamboo shoots, and when Xie Daiyu was not paying attention, she placed the bamboo shoots in her supermarket. But she was worried that the mer would discover her, so she was very careful. However, after peeling the bamboo shoots for a while, her small hands turned red, and Xie Daiyu, who had been trying to act as if he couldn’t notice anything amiss, felt his heart ache.

He sighed and said to her, "Alright, since you want these bamboo shoots, I will arrange for them to be peeled and carried down. There is no need for you to scrape the skin of your palm." anyway, he could easily climb these mountains with his size; he didn’t need to worry about this little distance but he couldn’t watch Ruan Chanchan be hurt.

He would rather climb the mountains up and down instead of letting his destined one get hurt.

On the other side of the mountains, Yuan Ni was looking for the poisonous mushrooms that Ruan Chanchan had sternly warned them against. He looked at the mushrooms that Ruan Chanchan asked them not to touch, and his heart started to thud violently in his chest. He knew that things were going to become really dangerous for him. He glanced at the other mers who were collecting the right mushrooms and sneakily put the poisonous mushrooms in his basket.

He knew that what he was doing was wrong, but Yuan Ni had no other choice. In his heart, he also blamed Ruan Chanchan for snatching Xie Daiyu from Shao Xia. If she hadn’t done that, then he wouldn’t have had to take risks in such a manner; it was all her fault.

"Achoo!" Ruan Chanchan had no idea that she was being blamed for no reason once again. She returned to the cave because Xie Daiyu insisted that she had done enough and that she should stay at home for the rest of the night. Ruan Chanchan was also excited to cook some rice with bamboo shoots, so she agreed right away and quickly took out a big bamboo shoot that she cut into strips and placed in the stone pot and started to boil.

Once the thin strips were done boiling, she washed them with cold water to wash off the bitterness.

While she was busying around, Xie Daiyu was watching her carefully. Though his team had asked him to come and join them more than twice, he wanted to see what Ruan Chanchan was doing. After all, this little minx had been humming about something tasty and delicious on his back until they returned to the tribe. Now, even he was feeling a bit hungry.
