CHAPTER 93: RUAN CHANCHAN: SHALL I RIDE YOU?

"Of course, darling."

Soon, the 3D model that was floating in front of Ruan Chanchan’s eyes vanished into thin air. But it didn’t change anything because Ruan Chanchan knew where to go. The map seemed to have been transferred right within her memory, and Ruan Chanchan no longer had any trouble making her way through the winding paths that led to the Blood Berries. With the path clear in her mind, Ruan Chanchan heaved a sigh of relief.

It seemed like the bloodberries bloomed much better in a warm and humid climate because the path they were walking on led straight to the caves that were situated close to the volcano.

"Do you know where you are going?" Xie Daiyu gently questioned Ruan Chanchan when he noticed the trail that she had taken. He had gone down this trail when he was young, and his mother had whooped him until his buttocks turned quite uneven. Even now, Xie Daiyu swore that when he sat down, his sitting posture was a bit tilted.

Ruan Chanchan upturned her gaze, and when she noticed the mer looking a bit nervous, she curled her lips in amusement. "If you are scared to follow me, then you can go back." Since bloodberries preferred the hot and humid climate, there was a higher chance of finding them near the volcanic region. She was going to take a look around that area, whether Xie Daiyu liked it or not, so rather than letting this mer disrupt her, it was better if she went there alone. Ruan Chanchan didn’t want Xie Daiyu to cause any more disruptions in her life.

"How can I, a warrior mer, be scared of a volcanic trail?" Xie Daiyu shook his head. The reason he was looking concerned was that he was worried that Ruan Chanchan would end up falling off the rickety path. He stepped close to Ruan Chanchan and said to her, "I will take you there. That path is really dangerous, and if you are not careful, you will fall from the trail. Only beasts can go up on that path."

"Is it really dangerous?" Ruan Chanchan asked, feeling a bit lost.

"Of course, why else would we stay in this place?" Xie Daiyu glanced at Ruan Chanchan and explained helplessly, "The caves near the volcano are warm and much cosier than the ones where we live, but the rickety trail is too uneven and dangerous for the unawakened tribe members. If not for that, why would we stay here? Wouldn’t it be better to stay there? At least in the winter, we will not have to worry about getting frozen to death. But if we stay there, then the children and people like you will naturally fall off the paths every now and then."

Ruan Chanchan was instantly scared off when she heard that the paths were too dangerous for her to walk on. She frowned and worriedly asked, "Now what should I do?"

Xie Daiyu helplessly looked at her. "Did I not say that I would bring you with me?"

"How can you bring me with you? Didn’t you say that those paths are way too winding?" Ruan Chanchan remarked.

"Who said that I will bring you on two feet?" Xie Daiyu was speechless at the woman’s questions. He squatted down, and with a flash of golden light, he transformed into a big bear. The beat was so gigantic that Ruan Chanchan almost tumbled backwards. She had never seen Xie Daiyu change his appearance in front of her before.

Thus, her heart couldn’t help but palpitate with shock.

This bear was really beautiful. She didn’t know how to explain it – but from the golden intricate designs on his fur, which glowed under the sun, to the lush brown fur, this bear was really handsome. How in the world could she even consider a bear handsome? This was something that was out of her own expectations.

Maybe after staying with these beast mers and women, I have also started to think like them? Thought Ruan Chanchan.

However, her hands kept twitching as she couldn’t help but wish to caress and stroke the bear in front of her. But she knew that if she did that, it would certainly be rude of her. So, she struggled to keep her hands away from him.

Xie Daiyu easily saw the admiration and fascination in the eyes of the woman in front of him. He realised that Ruan Chanchan actually liked his beast form more than she liked him as a human.

The bear walked over to where Ruan Chanchan was standing and then elegantly rubbed his head against her palm. His big, bright and watery eyes stared up at her. Just one look at those eyes and Ruan Chanchan felt like her heart was going to melt into a puddle.

"You..." Ruan Chanchan wanted to hold on to her restraints, but when the bear kept rubbing against her, she didn’t think twice before brushing all the restraints that she had and stroking the head of the bear. The feeling was way better than she thought.

She rubbed his head like she did to her small pomeranian. She scratched his chin and the back of his ears; it was as if she was stroking a puppy rather than a bear that was big enough to kill a dinosaur. She rubbed and rubbed. And only snapped out of her daze when Xiao Xi coughed a few times to remind her what she needed to do.

Only then did Ruan Chanchan snap out of her daze; she looked down at the cute bear and then at her hands. Ah....

Pulling her hands away from the bear, she pursed her lips and cleared her throat awkwardly. Dang it, she was hooked by those cute eyes into doing something so stupid.

The bear was still looking at her with those smiling eyes that made Ruan Chanchan’s hand itch even more, but she held back and asked, "Shall I ride on your back?" Her voice was full of worry, but underneath there was a hint of excitement as well.
