CHAPTER 12: CHAPTER 12: THE EXCLUSIVE ROOM FOR AN AFFAIR

Sebastian Prescott’s cold and piercing gaze fell on her face, his voice low and somewhat indifferent, "What’s the matter?"

"I’ve gathered some evidence lately, but haven’t organized it. I’m afraid of accidents. Could I send it to you for safekeeping?"

The evidence she currently had wasn’t much, just some photos, screenshots, and recordings.

Sadly, she didn’t even have the courage to open and look at them.

She naturally feared that one day Caleb Sinclair would suddenly check her phone or computer, always feeling uneasy, thinking it would be more secure to keep it with her attorney.

Sebastian casually asked, "How’s the part about the assets coming along?"

"I’ve already checked the marital assets clearly. I’ll make a list and send it to you when I find time."

Sebastian nodded, "His personal assets can be investigated during litigation by requesting the court to check the other party’s property flow and asset preservation. But the details of the expenses he makes for the mistress should be clear to you."

Sienna Monroe pressed her lips together, lowered her eyelashes, the nighttime breeze somewhat chilly.

She was only wearing a beige coat and a turtleneck sweater, and while speaking, her nose tip became slightly red.

"Yes, I know." She asked, "Then how should I give you the evidence?"

Sebastian pondered for two seconds, tapped a few times on his phone, and held it out to her.

Sienna saw it was a QR code to add friends on WeChat, and her mind suddenly flashed back to his arrogant and aloof demeanor in the office that day saying he never adds clients on WeChat.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she took out her phone to scan the code.

Sebastian’s profile picture was a chubby little tabby cat tilting its head.

She found it quite surprising.

It seemed somewhat inconsistent with the famously aloof style of Leo Prescott.

She sent a friend request, which Sebastian promptly accepted, then put his phone away.

Both were not procrastinators, and after adding each other as friends, they said goodbye. Sienna got into her car, turned on the heater, and after a while, felt her cold and numb hands and feet gradually warming up.

Just as she prepared to start the car, a text message arrived: [Caleb Sinclair and Vivian Nash are staying at The Crestview Hotel, he never stays at Vivian Nash’s house, and has booked room 1408 for over a year.]

Sienna’s pupils constricted, the words felt eerily familiar.

Familiar hotel, familiar room number...

He went out of his way to accompany Vivian Nash yet still booked a hotel room.

Is he afraid of being spotted by the neighbors?

It does make sense, after all, many of the upper echelons from The Capital Circle live in Rippling Crest Estates, and The Sterling Family holds a high status in Imperial City, as a third young master, he’s somewhat notable.

So room 1408 at The Crestview Hotel has become their exclusive tryst spot.

Looking up, Caleb Sinclair and Vivian Nash walked out of the restaurant hand in hand.

Sienna’s grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly, her mind in chaos, watching them get in the car and speed away, before following them from a distance after starting her engine.

Though the evening rush had passed, there were still quite a few cars on the road.

Sienna maintained a not-too-close, not-too-far distance in pursuit.

Twenty minutes later, Caleb Sinclair and Vivian Nash’s car indeed entered The Crestview Hotel’s parking lot.

Sienna stayed in the car, watching from afar through the windshield as they got out. Caleb put his arm around Vivian Nash, holding her close, as they walked into the hotel.

Her eyes were somewhat lost, only feeling the piercing pain welling up in her chest almost engulfing her.

One scene after another.

All came too quickly, too suddenly.

Only when their figures disappeared into the hotel entrance did Sienna stop the recording.

Back home, it was already close to ten. The sky had started drizzling, adding a chill to the late autumn night.

The entire villa was dark and quiet.

She and Caleb both preferred quiet days; the babysitter and maids did not stay overnight, only worked during the day.

Previously she never felt lonely, but now it seemed less lively.

After parking her car in the garage, she passed through the mahogany gallery outside, looking through the rain at the two pear blossom trees in the courtyard.

Her footsteps halted.

Among all flowers, she favored pear blossoms. These two trees were transplanted by Caleb at great expense after their marriage.

Many of her perfume choices also centered around pear blossom scent.

The pear blossom trees, whether sprouting in spring, blooming in early summer, or covered in snow in winter, looked exceptionally beautiful.

She stood there for quite a while, suddenly realizing that her affection for pear blossoms had faded significantly.

Dragging her weary body back to her room, she stood at the door, looked around, and saw that every piece within carried memories of her and Caleb Sinclair’s married life.

During the decoration, everything was based on her preferences.

Especially the design of the dressing room, which she drew herself, and later from big items like the bed, sofa, table, curtains to small ones like bedding and towels, they personally chose them at the furniture store.

The sweetness of those days had turned into jokes and ridicule.

She tugged at her mouth corner, walked to the desk, glanced at several bottles of pear blossom perfume he had customized for her, then decisively picked them up and threw them in the trash.

Turning back, she found the bedding they had shared somewhat disgusting, and simply took out a new set to replace it, then went for a shower. While applying skincare, Caleb called as usual.

She didn’t answer, then sent a video call request to him after finishing applying hand cream.

The video connected after more than ten seconds, and came into view was a familiar face, the curtains behind him deep brown in color.

"Honey, just finished showering?" Caleb asked with a smile in his eyes.

"Yes."

Sienna couldn’t see any abnormality on his face or in the camera, but her heart secreted a surge of sourness again.

Still, she had to naturally ask, "When are you coming back tomorrow?"

"In the morning."

Just as he finished speaking, there was a sudden ’thud’ from his side.

Sienna tightened her fists, "What happened?"

Caleb’s gaze shifted, maintaining his composure with a gentle tone, "It’s nothing, just the document on the table fell."

"Oh, okay."

Sienna’s eyes dimmed for a moment and after several seconds of silence, she suddenly felt there was nothing else to talk about between them.

A smile lifted on her lips, "You’ve had a tiring day, go to bed early. See you tomorrow."

"Okay, you go to sleep early too. Good night, honey, I love you."

Sienna stared at his affectionate and tender eyes in the video, as well as the tone of ’I love you’.

She had once immersed herself countless times in such looks and tones from him.

Now, listening to it, she held back the choking feeling, softly uttered ’Mm’ without any response, and ended the video call.

Dropping her phone, she threw herself onto the soft and comfortable bed, closed her eyes, and the tears she had held back all day finally slipped down from her nose.

That night, she didn’t have insomnia but drifted into a long dream.

As if she was back in college when she first met Caleb Sinclair, his love was so passionate, dramatic, unrestrained, and free.

In the hotel room.

After Caleb hung up, he saw Vivian Nash with a pouty face, lips pursed, looking pitifully close to tears.

His heart softened, he walked over and gently wrapped her in his arms, but Vivian Nash resisted not letting him hold her, "Liar! Didn’t you promise to spend another day with me?"

"There’s an important meeting at two tomorrow afternoon, I can’t miss it." Caleb hugged her again, comforting gently, "Listen, don’t make a fuss."

Vivian Nash’s eyes were wet with grievances as she lifted her face in his embrace, "When’s the next time then? Another month, right?"

Caleb softly caressed her cheek with his fingertip, smiling slightly, "The cat’s eye sapphire necklace you looked at this afternoon, I’ve already bought it for you, it’ll be delivered tomorrow."

Vivian’s eyes widened in excitement, hugging his neck tightly, her thin nightgown straps slipping from her round, white shoulders, exuding a pure and charming atmosphere.

"Really? Honey, you’re so good, I love you."

Caleb’s eyes darkened, his grip on her waist tightened, and his voice grew hoarse, "Mm? Who was it that called me a liar just now?"

Vivian’s eyes glimmered with light, overflowing with tenderness, her slender fingers drew a circle on his chest, her voice sweet and coquettish, "How do you plan to punish me? The pose from last night? Or... try a new one?"
