Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!
Chapter 155: Slap in the Face
CHAPTER 155: CHAPTER 155: SLAP IN THE FACE
Sienna Monroe’s initially bewildered expression froze instantly.
Caleb Sinclair?
Why would he do this?
Is it just because of her partnership with Sebastian Prescott? Does he want to take revenge on Sebastian?
How absurd!
The issues reported not only damage the reputation of The Prescott Family but also Sebastian’s.
She and Sebastian had worked together for quite a while, and he had helped her so much.
Since she now knew it was Caleb behind it, she had no reason to continue covering up for him.
As she pondered, her astonished and bewildered look calmed down.
Returning to her WeChat conversation with Sebastian, she hesitated for a moment while looking at his messages.
She typed and sent: [The online rumors were orchestrated by Caleb Sinclair.]
Sebastian replied over a minute later: [Okay. Thanks.]
Concise, not asking any more questions.
He believed it so straightforwardly.
Sienna paused for a moment, then exited the chat box.
As for how he would resolve the issue, it wasn’t something she could intervene in or inquire about.
She also logged out of Weibo and didn’t check the report again.
Although she was a bit curious about The Prescott Family’s secrets, it wasn’t enough to delve into them.
The news disappeared from the trending topics without a trace in less than two hours.
Around eleven-thirty, a new account with the ID "Joyful Joy" posted a short message: Did I die young at twenty-nine?
Her identity was quickly uncovered, she was Eldest Miss Prescott, Joy Prescott.
This statement was a good way to question the report’s authenticity. After all, how could Joy still be alive and be fake?
Having Joy come forward was the most powerful clarification.
It was also a clever scheme.
In less than half a day, the rumor was dispelled on its own.
With Eldest Miss Prescott alive and well, how could anyone curse her death?
Caleb Sinclair, seeing the trending topics bought by The Prescott Family at his company, was enraged, vented his anger, and then pondered how to destroy the good image of Sebastian in Sienna’s mind.
He must make Sienna despise Sebastian.
However, this thought persisted until the afternoon, when he saw Joy Prescott in person, and all his strength seemed to be drained.
The Prescott Family claimed Joy and Sebastian were fraternal twins and indeed they didn’t look alike.
Joy had a straightforward and neat short haircut, her appearance exuded a heroic vibe, and her personality was quite carefree.
She stood in the first-floor lobby, apparently negotiating with the staff for a long time, yet still not allowed upstairs.
Upon seeing Caleb, she instinctively glanced him up and down.
Then she scoffed disdainfully.
A hypocrite with the facade of a person.
It really was a flower planted on cow dung for Sienna to marry him.
Joy smiled faintly, "It’s really not easy to get a meeting with Mr. Sinclair."
Joy seldom appeared in social circles, and when Caleb saw her, he froze a bit, somewhat puzzled, "And you are?"
"Don’t know me? You seemed quite adept at fabricating rumors this morning, how come you don’t even recognize me?"
Caleb stiffened.
A name flashed in his mind, matching the face in front of him.
Joy Prescott!
He never expected Joy to suddenly come knocking.
And she found out it was him so quickly.
How could it be?
He hadn’t personally shown himself in this matter, and he had acted discreetly, how did Joy trace it back to him?
Despite his confusion, he maintained a composed and placid demeanor, his peach blossom eyes beneath the lenses holding just the right amount of puzzlement and innocence.
"Miss, I really don’t understand what you’re saying. If there’s anything, please say it directly."
Joy sneered.
She felt again that Sienna was getting a raw deal in her heart.
"Afraid to admit what you’ve done? Since I can find you here, naturally there’s evidence, so stop pretending."
Seeing him about to speak, Joy raised her hand to signal silence.
Her cold and mocking tone was like a vicious slap in front of everyone, striking hard across his face.
"No need to be so quick to deny it. You know in your heart whether you’ve done it or not. After all, you are the Third Young Master Sinclair, you shouldn’t be living like a sewer rat, degrading yourself."
"I’d very much like to ask Third Young Master Sinclair, what exactly did The Prescott Family do to offend you? For you to personally have someone buy trending topics to comment on our family’s past affairs? Isn’t your reach a bit too long?"
Caleb’s face darkened from her straightforward words.
Yet he maintained a composed and calm demeanor while stifling his anger.
"The Prescott Family? You are the Eldest Miss Prescott?" He spoke with surprise, a slight frown on his face, "I wonder if there’s some misunderstanding?
Do you think the trending topic this morning about the kidnapping case 27 years ago was my doing?"
He then graciously smiled, "I consider myself having no interactions with your Prescott Family. Besides,
the kidnapping case 27 years ago, I only learned about it from the report today. If Miss Prescott wants to find the person behind it, shouldn’t randomly accuse me."
Very well.
Look at how his smooth-talking put the blame completely off himself.
How innocent he sounds.
But to do such sneaky and shameless things, he shouldn’t blame her for driving two hours just to slap him in the face.
"Over the years, I’ve heard a lot about Third Young Master Sinclair being graceful and gentlemanly. If you admitted to this matter now, I could still respect you a little and commend you as a brave one without fear.
But, what a pity, you disappointed me. You are fake and pretentious, despicable and shameless, sanctimonious, dark, and scheming."
Tsk.
What a pity for the good girl Sienna.
Should she advise Sienna to see Caleb’s true colors?
Though they say it’s better to tear down a temple than split a couple.
But this marriage truly had no redeeming value.
A lot of employees around them were watching this scene, hearing these harsh and unflattering words, Caleb’s face was losing dignity, but he tried to maintain it.
Yet he also got angry, "Miss Prescott, please speak with caution. If you have evidence proving that report this morning was my doing, I’ll personally come and apologize to you.
But if you don’t have evidence, please don’t falsely accuse here. The Prescott Family may be remarkable, but our Sterling Family isn’t to be slandered and trampled casually either."
He was confident he hadn’t left any traces or clues about this matter.
Although startled that Joy could trace it back to him so quickly, now with so many people watching, and it being inside his own company.
Once he lost his composure, how would the hundreds of employees respect him in the future?
What prestige could he possibly have?
Joy’s deliberate visit to the company to corner him was a reprehensible act.
Wasn’t it just to make the company watch him become a joke, to slap him in the face?
Joy genuinely admired his strong psychological endurance.
In such a situation, he remained calm and unflustered, even speaking this seemingly righteous and dignified speech.
She almost wanted to applaud.
Yet she was too lazy to engage further, gave a casual glance around at the employees, feeling somewhat avenged.
Otherwise, some ignorant people might think The Prescott Family’s affairs were for everyone’s entertainment.
"Alright, I hope that by then, Third Young Master’s mouth is as firm as it is now. We shall meet again."
With this statement, Joy left in a dashing manner.
Caleb watched her back, his fists clenching with a "grrk" sound.
The warmth in his angry eyes was replaced by a flash of malignity and ferocity.
