Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!
Chapter 39: Killing the Chicken to Warn the Monkey (Revised)
CHAPTER 39: CHAPTER 39: KILLING THE CHICKEN TO WARN THE MONKEY (REVISED)
Vivian Nash looked at her in shock and quickly persuaded, "Sienna... calm down, don’t be impulsive. The art gallery needs people right now, how can you fire someone? You know Charlotte’s work ability, she was indeed a bit outspoken just now, but she meant no harm..."
"Then what, in your opinion, is considered malicious?" Sienna Monroe suddenly interrupted her, "She uses vicious and despicable thoughts to presumptuously speculate about me, and you are the one she’s protecting, so naturally, you wouldn’t think much of it."
"I’m very rational right now! Someone who doesn’t respect their boss, I don’t believe she will do what I ask her to next. I don’t need people who pretend to obey on the surface but curse the cook while eating his meal!"
After saying that, Sienna didn’t give them a chance to continue talking and walked away with a cold face.
Vivian Nash stood stunned in place.
Her heart was pounding, but the hand hanging by her side clenched into a fist.
What did Sienna mean by this?
That last sentence seemed to be pointing at her.
Was it because of what happened yesterday morning?
Did Sienna really find out?
Everyone in the gallery knows how good her relationship with Charlotte is.
Now Sienna insists on making a big deal out of a small incident by firing her, what is this if not slapping her in the face?
She was uneasy, feeling somewhat apprehensive.
Meanwhile, the person involved, Charlotte, was stunned by Sienna’s words and hadn’t reacted until Sienna left.
She never expected it to be such a coincidence that those words would be heard by Sienna herself, and Sienna still wanted to fire her.
During yesterday’s lunch break, she saw Vivian Nash secretly wiping tears in the restroom and went to comfort her, listening to her grievances and sorrow.
At that time, she genuinely felt that Sienna was being too much.
This morning she had a chance to vent about the incident to others.
Vivian Nash came over, grabbed her hand, and reassured her with a heart full of concern, "Charlotte, don’t worry, I’ll talk to Sienna again, she might just be angry. If... if she insists on firing you, it’s because of me, I’ll compensate you."
Charlotte’s thoughts gradually came back, her heart was flustered and scared, and tears started falling down.
Sienna didn’t care how Vivian Nash tried to comfort Charlotte. She called for Nora Joyce and instructed her to notify management personnel to patrol the four galleries in ten minutes.
Vivian Nash was also among them, but she never found a chance to speak to Sienna alone.
Because after the gallery tour, Sienna returned to the office.
Ding!
The phone on the table suddenly chimed with a message notification sound.
[Vivian Nash is instigating Charlotte to cause trouble during the exhibition, when there are the most people, to pressure you for compensation.]
Sienna’s brow furrowed tightly.
To sabotage this exhibition and the gallery, Vivian Nash really went to great lengths.
As she was thinking, Nora Joyce knocked on the door and walked in, handing over two documents that needed her signature. After reviewing them, Sienna signed them swiftly.
"Go to HR and check Charlotte’s contract, see how many months are left? Have the finance department give her the remaining months’ basic salary, and make sure she signs the compensation agreement."
Nora was a bit surprised, then nodded, "Okay, I’ll go over in a moment."
Charlotte was probably already brainwashed by Vivian Nash, it’s not very meaningful to call her over for persuasion, and she didn’t want to waste more time on it.
Paying her a few months’ salary is just like spending money to avoid disaster.
Sienna instructed directly, "Additionally, have someone keep an eye on Charlotte until she leaves the gallery."
Nora understood her intentions, nodded, and left the office holding the documents.
At this moment, Charlotte, encouraged by Vivian Nash’s continuous regretful and unworthy remarks, felt her emotions rise, increasingly feeling that she wasn’t wrong, and that Sienna was being petty and intolerant.
Just as she was about to stir up trouble, she received a call from finance asking her to come over.
Hearing this, Vivian Nash frowned, having a premonition the plan might fall through again.
She suddenly felt a surge of irritation, and her patience with Charlotte decreased significantly. Although her face remained calm, her tone turned indifferent, "Go ahead. Maybe it’s something good. Sienna has always been very thorough regarding these matters, definitely leaving no loopholes."
Charlotte didn’t notice, her heart already filled with anger and grievance, she responded with an "Okay" and headed to the finance department.
Thus, when she saw the compensation agreement, she was shocked.
Sienna relaxed once she knew Charlotte had left the gallery with compensation.
Thinking of Caleb Sinclair’s surprised and expectant expression this morning, she looked down at her flat belly, after a moment of contemplation, she still felt empty inside.
She picked up her phone and ordered two pregnancy tests and some cold medicine, band-aids, and other items from the delivery app.
During lunch break, with a nervous heart, she used two pregnancy tests, and the waiting minutes seemed long to her.
The result surprised her, the first test showed no pregnancy with a single line.
But the second test indeed displayed two lines, indicating pregnancy.
Just as she was holding the two-line pregnancy test in a daze, the office door suddenly knocked. Before she could speak, Vivian Nash already walked in with two packed lunches.
"Sienna, come eat. I know you didn’t have lunch, so I specially ordered your favorite sweet and sour ribs. I heard the food from this place is pretty good, come try it."
Sienna was slightly stunned.
She found it somewhat unbelievable.
Whether it was yesterday’s incident or today’s, the rift between the two had already become apparent.
How is Vivian Nash acting so nonchalant about it?
She slightly frowned, "Why are you here?"
Vivian paused, placing the takeout on the desk, then looked up with a layer of hurt and grievance in her eyes.
She lightly bit her lip, her voice soft, "Sienna, do you have some misunderstanding with me? We’ve known each other for so long, if there’s any misunderstanding, we should just clear it up. I have a good relationship with Charlotte, but I didn’t expect her to think of you that way, if I knew I would surely..."
As she approached the desk, getting closer, she noticed the test in Sienna’s hand, and her words suddenly stopped, her pupils contracted.
"Sienna... are you pregnant?"
